DELICIOUS! Quiet and serene energy upon entering. This quaint little place is a GEM! Everything was very tasty. Good portion sizes. Service was a little slow but the servers were all very kind. Will absolutely eat here again. Try the desserts!!!
Went to Amanda Fuara for lunch today and overall it was a good experience. This is a Vegan, Vegetarian, and Plant Based restaurant with modest decor and Indian themed. I appreciate restaurants that cater exclusively to a particular crowd because all vegan options are few and far between. Central located on Market Street near City Hall, this restaurant is easily accessible via Bart and has both dine in and carry out options. I ordered a Beyond Meat burger and sweet potato fries. Overall, it wasn’t bad. The burger was drenched in BBQ, which overpowered what should have been crispy lettuce and other veggies. They also have freshly baked sweets with a healthy twist, if you have a sweet tooth. I definitely recommend trying to place out. On a critical note, I was given the wrong order, walked back to my office, only to have to turn around and go back. This was I accepted, especially when I consider the heat wave and the fact that the restaurant wasn’t busy. Mistakes happen, but, if I wasn’t in a position to come immediately back, my review would have been far more critical.
From the moment we entered we were made to feel relaxed & comfortable. A great soothing atmosphere. My husband & I had brunch and the flavors of the food were excellent! Highly recommend the yogi tea
& lemon ricotta pancakes! The waitstaff was so attentive & helpful especially the young man who seems to be part of a family business. We can’t wait to come back for dinner and to bring our family & friends. Definitely a fantastic surprise in our neighborhood. Glad it’s here!
I've come here a handful of times now and have had good food and experience each time. The first time I went, I was warned by several friends who said they had a very strange and awkward experience with the servers, but I haven't experienced that myself. They are perhaps not the friendliest, but I get the feeling that they're going for a minimalistic and zen (maybe too zen?) level of interaction (i.e. they'll take your order and are helpful if you have questions or need suggestions, and they'll bring you your food, but they're not going to ask you how you are or anything like that).
I've enjoyed all the food I've had from here. The Neatloaf (made vegan) was amazingly delicious especially with the mushroom gravy it comes with. There's a reason the Neatloaf Dinner and Neatloaf Sandwich are some of their best sellers. The vegan carne asada (soy-based) tacos were really good as well, and bigger than I expected (you get two). I got the tacos with a cup of dal as part of their lunch special, and the dal was lightly spiced and really good, too. Together, they made for a very filling lunch.
Items that are vegan or that can be made vegan are clearly marked on the menu. I only wish it were easier to tell what's gluten-free, though. Only a handful of things are labeled on the menu as gluten-free, but the servers have been able to tell me what's gluten-free and what's not and what can be gluten-free.
Highly recommended. By far the best vegan carrot cake I've ever had. Definitely the best vegan cake I've tried in all of the bay area. The samosas are full of flavor. Veggie burger is delicious. Staff is diligent, kind, and attentive. Even though not everything on the menu is vegan, at Ananda Fuara you don't have to worry that you'll accidentally get served something nonvegan on accident. I ate here with a nonvegan friend and staff double and triple checked that the person ordered correctly and knew their items weren't vegan. So great to see. Thank you!
Restaurant offering vegan and vegetarian food. There were a lot of different different options and types of food ranging from sandwiches to entrees and desserts. There were lots of cakes too!
I had a salad with add on tofu with the lemon tahini dressing which was quite filling. It’s simple food but feels fresh and healthy. The smoothie was too sweet I found but tasted good as well.
Service was friendly enough and the dining area was clean and had good distanciation. The restaurant is associated with a guru so there’s a spiritual aura to it with spiritual music - can be either off putting or calming depending on how you feel!
I was at city hall for some business and decided to stop at this place I found on Google after searching "vegan food near me." The prices online are inaccurate, so no, the tacos and wraps are not $1! Lol! I walk in and am transported from the rainy, wet, windy, gritty San Francisco Tenderloin area into a tropical relaxing paradise. A waterfall on the wall is a center focus and soothing music plays quietly.
The service was perfect and I received a good amount of recommendations from my waiter. I went with his recommendations because they were what I was considering before we talked! I was slightly disappointed with my ensalada Mexicana. I could have gone without the vegan Carne asada. And the tahini lemon dressing was... not as flavorful as I had expected, and hoped. But, it was still good. It has some delicious salsa with a hint of cilantro on top. I also ordered the portobello wrap (vegan) and sweet potato fries to go. I ate them later in the day, cold.
Oh em gee! That wrap was the best thing I've tasted in a long time. So simple! Yet freaking delicious! The bell pepper paired with the mushroom and spinach and some saucy amazing sauce was fekking👌🏼!! There aren't many words to describe the deliciousness! The fries were amazing too! I was expecting sub par since they were cold already. I was so wrong. Slightly soggy, still a bit crunchy - and the flavor! There was a delicious dipping sauce for the fries too, like a sriracha mayo flavor. I will be back for another wrap and fries!! So so so delicious!
I can't wait!
Excellent vegetarian and vegan food. I had a Indian dal lentil soup with a greece spinach salad together with a mango lassie. All was very delicious and the service is relaxed and very friendly. At a sunny afternoon the restaurant was very warm inside.
Had lunch here because I was looking for reasonably priced vegetarian food and their lunch combos looked promising.
I had the the “Neatloaf” and Soup or Salad comb. I got a slide of Neatloaf and lentil soup. The Neatloaf was pretty good. I’d have it again but with sides. The soup was pretty good too. Overall it was worth ~$10 and was very filling.
It has a nice open dining space and has sunny seating options for lunch.
There are two restrooms. They’re nice with a unique look. They each have one step, so they are not wheelchair/ADA accessible.
What a gem! I wasn’t sure what to expect with this place being located near the Tenderloin. Great selection of vegetarian and vegan food. The portions were also a lot bigger than anticipated. We got the Curry dinner and the Neatloaf sandwich and were blown away by both! Not normally one to order meatloaf but the way they prepare it is special and unique. Would definitely recommend giving this place a try if you’re in the area!
