So we went on a Black Friday (11/24/23) around 6 pm and expected it to be dead, seeing it was the day after Thanksgiving. Turned out there were some patrons when we arrived and the place was about 60% full when we left. Food is served "Asian style" meaning they bring it out when it is done rather than all at once. Although I was the only vegan in the party of 4, everyone enjoyed the food. They served the food relatively quickly and the restrooms were fairly clean too. The price was decent considering it was SF and close to the theaters.
I'm not sure what to think of the dish bird's nest, it feels like you eat uncooked instant noodle soup noodles. Definitely the sauce helps to soften it and the taste after is nice but it should be way more of it on the plate. I really loved the veggie and mushrooms but the noodles was tough to eat, especially when the waitress was constantly watching me choking up my meal like if they were closing and he waited for me. I understand that it could be ment in a good way but I haven't felt like it is the case. I'll come next time because the taste was really nice and I don't want to give up on this restaurant. Prices are reasonable, menu is large and all vegan!
A delightful experience! I’m visiting SF for a few days, and I ordered Golden Era for takeout last night. I ordered the spring rolls and the fried rice. Both dishes were tasty, and I appreciated that the portion sizes allowed me to have both dinner and lunch from a single order. I also love the concept of a fully vegan Chinese restaurant. We don’t have anything like it in Minneapolis, and it’s an excellent idea. I would definitely try more items on their menu if I were in town longer.
Ordered the spicy noodle soup to go, requested extra spicy. The portion was HUGE - it can extend to two separate meals.
I’d definitely be back for a dine in experience next time I’m in the area!
I enjoyed this lovely sit down vegan Chinese spot! I've never had vegan ban xeo before, and the one here was delicious! Can't recommend the mango sticky rice enough, it's so good 😭
Be sure to order a side of rice, some dishes didn't come with it (like the orange chicken)
This place was delicious, the service was good and the atmosphere was nice. Their menu is entirely vegan and it was hard to choose among so many good options. Definitely recommend!
The exterior obscures what's inside! The restaurant is very bright and airy, exactly what you want out of a vegan restaurant. And the food was delicious. The Pad Thai was a little heavy on the lemongrass for my taste, but my husband thought it was excellent. And the Eggplant and Mushroom was rich and savory. We'd definitely come again to see what else the menu has to offer
I HIGHLY recommend trying golden era even if you're not vegan or vegetarian. The food and drinks are always so fresh and flavorful and I haven't tried a dish I haven't loved.
The inside is very clean, has a bathroom, and tons of tables, so it's a good place for larger groups (it's not super busy usually but call to make reservation just in case for groups over 5)
It's hard for me not to write down almost everything on their menu as a recommendation but here are some dishes you can't go wrong with:
-Mamas clay pot (organic tofu, eggplant, and soy fish with house special sauce) I usually order this along with spicy Thai fried rice or Indian fried rice which are both amazing and pair well with the curry
-Lemon grass deluxe and drumsticks
-Asian wraps, the paratha is so buttery and these wraps make a perfect meal for lunch
-iced Vietnamese coffee
-iced mango smoothie
The curry okra, miso kale and the sour and spicy soup are really delicious!
Heard that their avocado smoothie is also good too. Will come back again to try more dishes!
I can’t believe it’s vegan, so tasty and flavorful
My favorite was the lemon grass deluxe
Amazing! Wow
