I recently visited this place, expecting the usual hustle and bustle associated with tourist areas, but I was pleasantly surprised. The location is fantastic, easily accessible yet not overrun with crowds. This made the experience much more enjoyable. What stood out the most was the service. The staff was extremely attentive and helpful, ensuring that our visit was comfortable and memorable. It's refreshing to find such dedicated service, especially in a touristy location. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful yet vibrant spot in the area. Great job!
I spent the afternoon here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. She wanted seafood with a view and we accomplished that. The atmosphere was amazing, we felt casual with a touch of class. The views were amazing, staff and service was exceptional. The sea bass was cooked just right and the vegetables added just the right amount of complimentary flavors. My wife truly enjoyed her dish, the only complaint was having to use her hands for the crab but I got a kick out of it!!! The cheesecake with the raspberry drizzle and ice cream was definitely the icing on the cake!!! Will definitely be back!!!
The seafood is incredibly fresh. Don’t sleep on the calamari, it was so soft and delicately fried. Pastas are also amazing. Really enjoyed the visit and staff are so nice!
Lovely food, lovely service and amazing view! Highly recommend seafood lovers to come here. I was served by Michaela who was really friendly and tentative. Really enjoyed my fish and chips, the sea food here was so fresh!
Nice views, good service. I like the old look and decor of the restaurant. Ordered wedge salad for lunch. Portion was on the small side. Bar Drinks were good. Dessert was vanilla custard ice cream. Portion was definitely for 2 people. Decent restaurant overall, would likely return when I'm in SF.

Great view in a great location! Definitely pricey and the crab was okay. Started with house salad while hubs enjoyed the chowder and we shared 2lbs of crab which was a bit dry. Very good service though!
After catching up on some of my Google reviews, I realized that I never rated/commented on this restaurant so unfortunately, this is an extremely late post. My family and I visited this restaurant while we were in town sightseeing and in anticipation of watching our team play (and win) against the "Oakland" Raiders. Needless to say, we had a great time visiting the bay area and this restaurant was a major contributor to that experience (we still talk about to this day). We currently live in Las Vegas so visiting a restaurant right next to the ocean is always an appreciated experience.
We ended up ordering the crab cake, clam chowder (of course), 2-lb whole crab, shrimp/crab combo, salmon with garlic lemon caper butter sauce, crispy roasted mixed potatoes and vegetables, and another entree (I can't seem to remember what it was). Regardless, all we can remember is that EVERY entree that we ordered were spectacular. Sitting right next to the window and being able to see the water/Alcatraz from our table was amazing. Also, there's something about eating seafood while staring at the ocean...just makes the whole experience very relaxing and at times, seems to make me love seafood even more (if that's possible because I've always loved seafood). The food quality was outstanding - definitely comparable to my experiences in my home state of Hawaii. The food quantity was adequate...I mean, if you want to have 62 lbs of crab right in front of you for under $50, then go buy some frozen seafood at Wal-Mart or something. The price to quantity/quality ratio at this restaurant is outstanding if you ask me. Not to mention, you are sitting next to the water and you're dining in one of the most expensive cities in this country (why we don't live in CA). So I don't understand why people are complaining about the prices (which you can research before arriving), and the quantity (you must be a world class buffet eater or something).
The staff at this restaurant were very friendly, professional, and attentive - I/we appreciated that! To be transparent, I'm not sure if we'll ever visit this restaurant again since I don't anticipate visiting San Francisco or Oakland any time soon. BUT, if we do, then we are definitely eating here again! Thanks for the phenomenal, first experience!
Enjoyed a visit to the Franciscan Crab Restaurant with a group on a recent trip to the Bay Area. Food was all very tasty (including the calamari, crab and spinach fondue, and crab fettuccini) but is priced at a premium due to the location. Well worth a visit once though to take in the sunset and views of Alcatraz!
Outstanding views, tasty seafood and ok service. We went here for a birthday dinner and had indicated that in our online reservation. No one asked if we were celebrating anything and the birthday was not acknowledged at any time during our visit. In addition, the carpet was vacuumed near us during our meal, which took away from the ambiance. However the view was spectacular and the food was good and came out quickly. We started with the crab fondue (which was very thick, like pizza cheese) followed by a Lotsa crab, medium mussel/shrimp, bread (not complimentary) and fish and chips (sweet potato bites). Dessert was a shared chocolate mousse cake.
We come here for the view. You can see Alcatraz right from your table. The fish here has always been fresh. The best time to visit would be 2pm-3:30pm to avoid the dinner crowd.
This place is decent. The decor is very retro and they play 80's music. I liked it, but it almost seems like it just hasn't been updated in a long time. There was no wait, and it wasn't crowded at all the crab was cooked perfectly.
The fish, clam chowder were amazing. The crab melt and crab enchiladas were okay. Our waiter was incredible. He made the experience a good one for our family. We will be back.
We got a whole crab and the presentation was great! The views are just amazing and I could spend an hour checking out all of the celebrity photos.
What a beautiful scenic seafood restaurant. I had the crab avocado appetizer and clam chowder. Cioppino for entre was loaded with seafood!! The bread was especially good for dipping into the soup. If you’re in the mood for seafood or romantic evening, go to Franciscan Crab Restaurant.
Ordered Crab Salad, it was s little bit on the salty side, that takes away one star. Seems like soy sauce dressing which is a bit strange. Veggies were fresh and portion of crab meet was okay.
If you love seafood like I do the Franciscan Crab Restaurant is definitely worth visiting. We arrived right at opening time... The hostess seated us promptly. The first thing we got was a Bread Bowl Clam Chowder. The bread was warm and fresh and the soup was without equal. The view of San Francisco Bay is spectacular. Finally our main course came. We ordered Crab, Shrimp, and Mussels combo. I can not overstate how impressed I was with the food.
Had time to kill before an evening cruise. Love a place with history, drew us right in. Great view, food was fast and fresh and Yuri was the best. Thanks for a great time!
Absolutely hands down my favorite restaurant at Fisherman’s Wharf. The view of the Bay is incredible. The ambiance and decorations are top notch. The restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. The service, drinks, food and dessert were all amazing! I even love their mermaid tail designed silverware. We went the first day on the way to the Red & White fleet sunset cruise but ended up eating elsewhere not realizing what a gem this was right next to the cruise. So the next day we went back for a full meal. The Dungeness crab was so good! And the clam chowder in a bread bowl is a must try! Busy place but we never called ahead for a reservation and were sat immediately. Although in busier months, I would verify. I’m sure this place gets packed as good as it is!!
