Had a lovely dinner here with friends and everyone enjoyed their meals!
I asked for the spicy fried rice which was exactly as advertised, very spicy!
The appetizers were delicious too and staff was so friendly

Amazing place the food is just great and very tasty. Location is great right on park street easy to get to I can't hear with my girlfriend. We had a coconut curry with rice and cheese. Or the noodles would be a little bit spicy was amazing. We have a tie beer and enter up our dinner with the coconut fried planting dish, a perfect cherry on top of the cake highly recommended if you are anywhere near oak street.
What a find. I came on a recommendation by a friend. We made a reservation for 3 at 8pm. They seated us immediately in a corner with a good deal of space. The ambiance was so classy and made you feel warm. The service was just the icing on the cake- they were funny and friendly, made sure we consistently had water, got us wet napkins for the wings, and gave my husband free ice cream for his birthday. Such a special experience. Food review below.
Appetizers: Golden Bags (A MUST HAVE), Murder Wings. Review: The Murder Wings had good flavor but the Golden Bags easily stole the show. So fresh and crispy and full of flavor.
Mains: Gra-Prao Fried Rice with Chicken, Pa-Nang Curry with Chicken and a side of Jasmine Rice. Review: Both were just incredible and not too spicy. The fried rice was devoured instantly.
My experience at Ben Thai Restaurant was a culinary voyage through Thailand, and it left my taste buds singing with delight! The Khao Soi dishes from Northern Thailand were a true standout – rich, flavorful, and the squeeze of lime elevated the experience to another level. The Larb White Fish, representing the bold flavors of Northeast Thailand, had a kick of fish sauce that might catch you off guard initially, but after a thorough mix, it unfolded into a burst of deliciousness. Ben Thai Restaurant is a must-visit for those seeking an authentic and diverse Thai culinary experience. The harmony of flavors in each dish is delivering an exceptional dining experience.
Overall 3.5 stars
We ordered pad kee mao and khao soi. Every other pad kee mao I have had, it’s always more spicy than I can handle but I love the kick it usually here but here it was not at all spicy. The khao soi was better and had a slight spicy kick to it but I had higher expectations of the place since it has such great reviews from others.
I enjoyed my visit here. I think it’s definitely one of the best places to run when Thai craving comes. The portions are huge and flavorful. Ofc it’s not a fine dining experience.
I think is great for group dinners and date night. Gets busy but if you’re one or two is doable to find a spot.
The service was great, only thing I wish is they were more transparent with the tip situation. Since they use toast is hard to know what just happened.
This place is cute. Came here with my friend we noticed the cute ambiance from outside and decided to give it a try. We waited a good 10 min before we got a waitress to come over. But once we got service it was super fast. Food was good and tasty tho my friend said there could have been bigger beef portions, and they forgot the tofu on my plate. The drinks didn’t have a lot of alcohol but still yummy.
Opted to try Ben Thai because of the numerous options not typically found in other places. Street parking, although not the safest of areas, was relatively easy on a weekend. The food came out quick which was appreciated since we were quite hungry. The staff was friendly and attentive and offered strong recommendations. I ordered the Khao Soi Deluxe with Oxtail. That dish wasn’t what I expected. The soup was creamy and sweet with a slight kick to it. The egg noodles were chewy enough. And the fried noodles and pork skin gave additional texture to the dish. But the oxtail pieces were IMO the star of the show. They were roasted, tender, and so flavorful. I would definitely come back just for this meal. The rest of the dishes we ordered were good but just average. But we have to try more of their specials probably. There is a Yelp check-in offer for 50% off non-alcoholic drinks. The aesthetics of the place was nice and the bathroom was also nice and clean.
phenomenal murder wings. not spicy but crispy and bursting with flavor. the yellow curry is so flavorful and good i could drink it forever. service is great. very friendly staff. cute atmosphere and lights inside
duck khao soi is amazing. flavorful, slightly spicy, fragrant broth with crispy duck and soft noodles.
Best Thai food in San Fransisco! Everyone who works there are so nice! The food tastes just like we remember from Thailand and they even have some specialty dishes we can't find anywhere else! Every time we get visitors in town we take them here and it's good for groups and families! Also they have lots of vegetarian options and everything is a great price for how much food you get!! 10/10
We've been craving thai food all week when we came across this gem in Polk Gulch neighborhood. We walked in as they were just opening for dinner service, but it soon became crowded with waiting line outside. We ordered Khao Soi and Gra-prao. We asked for just regular cut chicken than minced meat and they followed the instructions very well.
Pleasantly surprised with the portion size and their flavors! On top of everything the owner and the servers were extremely friendly and the service was impeccable. Definitely coming back to try other menu items :)
One of the best Thai restaurants I have ever consumed food at. If I could I would give it 100/5 stars. The food is immaculate!!! Atmosphere is super cool. Lovely decorations for the Christmas time! Not to mention…the service!!!! Wow!!! Aun and Pui took amazing care of my family and I. If I could, I would eat here every night!!!! Can’t wait to be back soon!!
This place was solid! The wings were good and I love that they serve them saucy and crispy (A hard combo). I knew the wings were good when I seen white people licking their fingers! The pad se ew was solid and very familiar if that makes sense. The waiter was fun and made us feel prioritized and cared for.
They will always get a mandatory visit from me. The atmosphere was basic and I actually liked it that way because obviously they care more about your tastebuds.
Best Thai place I've been in San Francisco hands down. Pad See Ew was on point, everything cooked perfectly and flavors balanced. Other dishes also tasted and everything looked good, they can cook any Thai food well. A bit on the pricier side for Thai, but still well worth it. It was only a single waiter there for a bunch of groups when we went, so he was struggling to keep up, but trying his best, which in and of itself is pretty good service for Thai food. Mango sticky rice was great presentation, but a little lacking in the rice quality.
This was the BEST food !!! I had the panang curry two times in one week because it was that good. Our server Anui was so kind and attentive. I highly recommend this place to everyone. It also has a nice relaxing atmosphere and was very clean.
