The taste is okay, the bread is delicious, and the reputation is getting bigger, and the price is the same, but the amount of soup keeps decreasing. It's a clam chowder restaurant that represents San Francisco in its own way, so I recommend you to visit it at least once. But I am going to get from here only bread and baguette
This is the cutest little location on the Wharf at Pier 39! It can get so busy! They have outdoor seating and inside seating. The contactless ordering as opposed to waiting in the long line is a time and life saver! I ordered the Rustic Tomato soup paired with half a grilled cheese. Yum! They were perfection! The soup was so delicious and warmed me up o na cool fall day by the ocean. I should have ordered a drink!
Easy to find location. Great selection of sourdough breads (see photos). The clam chowder in a bread bowl was the highlight. Plenty indoor & outdoor seating spaces. Prompt service & customer care made a lovely dinning experience. Do get there... it's worth it.
Thanks!!!

Having Clam chowder is a must at Fisherman’s Wharf. We tried that with one of the reputable restaurants in Pier 39 but it was disappointing compared to the rest of the seafood dishes.
Our tour guide recommended Boudin and so we came here specifically for the clam chowder. I don’t quite know the history of this restaurant but I am glad to say that my expectations of an excellent clam chowder has been restored after having it at Boudin.
The best clam chowder bread soup in SF…
A must try dish of sour dough….
We also had the crab sandwich,, it was amazing..
Nice atmosphere and staff.
The best soup ever !! Really. The crab one was amazing and everyone recommends the clam chowder one. It comes in a bread bowl and super fresh. The cheese sandwich is very good as well. Match your soup with a drink and enjoy!!! Recommended !!
The ever popular boudin’s express store. Don’t be mistaken between this and the main boudin bistro. This is the smaller cafe that opens earlier and sits by the entrance of Pier 39. We loved the simple but amazing grilled cheese and bacon sandwich - the bread was perfectly crusty with enough filling making it a perfect bite. We also had the turkey sandwich which was also refreshing and balanced. The famous clam chowder was a bit of miss for us. We barely had any clams in ours and the taste was just fine. Seating was easy as we came around 10am on a weekday.
Dined at their flagship store at Fisherman's Wharf about 14 years ago. Chose this location as it wasn't as crowded and had plenty of indoor seating to get out of the cool evening air that the other store does not. Chili beef in sourdough breadbowl ($12.79) is just as good as I remember. Huge portion size, you will be struggling to finish it. The bean to beef ratio seems to have changed since last visit. Bulking it up with cheap beans. Service was a little slow given it was only 5pm and where to order and pickup needs more signage as it was confusing.
Fast service, beautiful atmosphere. Had the clam chowder in bread bowl was very good well made. Just really hard to find seating. Overall a good time. Thank you Manny I love you so much 🪶♥️🎃
A HUGE operation here making some of the best sourdough bread in San Fran - they say! I'll admit, despite being known to as a LOVER of breads, I can't say their sourdough tasted particularly special to me. We tried just a roll and then the bread bowl. I for sure wanted WAY more clam chowder in the bread bowl but it was a great chowder. Love the belts carrying bread around and the atmosphere.
They have the cutest and most tasty sourdough bread animals you’ll ever bite into! Even the canned clam chowder is thick and not watery. I opened 2 cans for 5 and there was still plenty more!
I stopped by Boudin for lunch while walking around Pier 39.
I ordered clam chowder with sourdough bread bowl. I had clam chowder in another Boudin location before a couple years ago and thought it was just okay but the clam chowder I ate here this time was really good. I'm not a sour dough bread so can't comment on it but I like the idea of using the a bread bowl. I wish they have white bread bowl too.
Service is okay. I ordered from the self-serving kiosk and then picked the food up.
The restaurant is quite small. Tables are very close to each other. It would be hard to get a spot during lunch time. They seem to clean off the table quite quick.
Casual ambiance. Can be loud and crowded.
Great fresh bread! Crab chowder bowl was nice more bread than chowder.. Roast beef sandwich was very good! Prices were not bad at all..
Good food. The bread bowl soup is a classic and must try. Its a good location to take a meal break while exploring the tourist spots in SF. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating available. You can walk in and place your order, then pick up in a different line.
You can dine both indoors and outdoors at the restaurant. There were several options available, but I chose the crab chowder bread bowl and a cheese pizza. The crab chowder was incredibly delicious.
Stopped on a Friday morning to get a quick breakfast before heading to Alcatraz. I believe it was open earlier than 9:30 but not positive when we got there. Food was reasonably quick. The addition of mayonnaise and lettuce in the breakfast sandwiches was off and not a good addition. The wrap was good and had a tasty side dip. For a bit lighter but filling breakfast, either the wrap or sandwich could serve two.
Boudin Bakery proved to be a delightful dining choice during my recent visit. I opted for the salmon dinner, and I must say, it was a culinary delight. The salmon was cooked to perfection, tender, and bursting with flavor. It was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality.
Despite the bustling crowd, I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional customer service. The staff was efficient, attentive, and managed to provide great service even during peak hours. Their dedication to ensuring a pleasant dining experience did not go unnoticed.
The ambiance of Boudin Bakery was also noteworthy. It offered a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere that added to the overall enjoyment of the meal.
In summary, Boudin Bakery is a great restaurant to dine at. The delicious salmon dinner, combined with outstanding customer service, makes it a standout choice. Whether you're seeking a satisfying meal or a pleasant dining experience, this establishment delivers on both fronts. I look forward to returning for another memorable meal in the future.
