August (1) Five - San Francisco - Photo album

Almost missed this place, I had to drive by a couple of times. I went here with about eight friends for a birthday dinner and was shocked on many levels. The food was diverse and incredible. So many different flavors and the quality was off the charts. My friends who had been there a couple of tim
August 1 Five, like it's name which represents India's Independence Day August 15, attempts to provide freedom to the Indian food from its traditional recipe, taste and presentation. The place feels upscale and modern with subtle hints of tradition and royalty. The cocktails are carefully crafted to
August 1 Five was a phenomenal experience. A bit overpriced for the portion size but this is great place to spoil yourself or enjoy dinner for a special occasion. My personal favorite was the lamb chops. And the toffee cake was so so amazing. May come back just for that!
Fun cocktails, fusion of Indian and Californian cuisine (that's how it was explained to us), yummy desserts. Very attentive service. Multiple gluten free choices. Will visit again!
My first experience of Indian fusion--at least that's how my good friend described our experience. Delicious starters. Cocktails were aesthetically pleasing and yummy. The main was especially filling and made for hefty leftovers. Service was exceptional!
Might be one of the best Indian meals I've had in a restaurant - the food was amazing and the service was great For our appetizers course, we ordered shammi kababs, chicken kababs, dahi kababs, and paneer kababs. All were amazing except the chicken which was just ok. I'd strongly recommend trying a
Overall good place, I wouldn’t say it was the best. Food: Gol Gappa: This was really good! Must try. Chicken Tandoori: Chicken was tender but was really warm. Lacked flavor a little. Tandoori Prawns: These were king size prawns and taste was really good. Bison Keema: My favorite dish of the night w
Indian fusion food. They are fairly well executed western food with Indian tastes. Even the mocktail I had, tasted like I am drinking curry. I personally would prefer to eat more traditional Indian food.
Brunch here is damn good. They serve Indian food with an interesting take. The Pani for Pani Puri is served in little carafes. Highly recommend the lotus and taro root salad, not something you find often on the menu in Indian restaurants. They have added little touches to Indian food which sets it a
This place definitely deserves a 5 star review , such an amazing ambiance and food taste . Fusion food with Indian curries. Ordered their tasting Menu so literally tried everything. Presentation was marvellous. Can’t compare any other Indian restaurant to this . Must visit when you’re in SF
Had heard about this fusion Indian restaurant from long time and thought will try for our wedding anniversary. Man, I must say the food was very very delicious, hot and freshly served. Dahi kebab for appetizers, their naan/roti basket with chutney(out of this world taste, but very small quantity tho
Nice Indian fusion place next to City Hall and the San Francisco Symphony. The cocktails are delicious - I had the tulsi boba and it was great, with basil seeds soaked in aperol (similar to chia seeds). I wasn't that hungry, so I shared the bread sampler plate, but my friend had the sweet potato sid
The restaurant has an overall nice ambiance . The appetizers we ordered were not that great and were bit salty ( specially the buffalo cauliflower ). Main course was amazing ( spinach paneer and assorted breads ) . We initially thought of trying chef special menu but the menu didn’t seem very exciti
Best modern Indian cuisine in San Francisco. I'd still rate rasa higher. Palak chat and masala omelette were the best. Everything else was great too.
The Indian brunch at August 1 Five has one of the most unique and delicious brunches I've tried in SF! I highly recommend it! The Lassi cocktail was delightful!
Upscale sort of Indian place. Very good service. I quite liked the decor too. Details: The aloo poori is definitely let’s-come-back-here worthy. Waffles in the waffles and fried chicken was too dry. The dessert was more visual impact than taste. The Gol guppa was a very sanitized version, but still
