Excellent sushi! A long wait to get and they do not take reservations. But the sushi is worth the wait. Servers are not so friendly but again the sushi makes up for it. Farming Sea Bass is off the charts!!
Best. Sushi. Ever. Get the flaming seabass roll. Salmon and yellowtail is on point, melts in your mouth. Also a fan of the Ya Man Roll.
This has been, hands down, the best sushi I've ever had! Excellent taste! Fish was so fresh and soft! Also, the service was great!!
Everything we had was amazing. The flaming sea bass was a cool experience and our favorite. It's a hopping place, get their early or be ready to wait.
Ultra fresh fish that melts in your mouth. And the ambiance brings you back to that time you were in Kyoto eating shirako watching the cherry blossom float into the sutorīmo. 5 stars!
Best sushi I've ever had! Long wait but totally worth it!
Food was super tasty and complex. Service was incredible: fast, nice and always smiling. Wait was minimal for a 10 seats restaurant
I've been here since the opening night. It's consistently been extremely good. I prefer sashimi and nigiri and basics. But in that regard its phenomenal.
Went for a work dinner so got to try a big portion of the menu. We ordered exclusively sushi, and it was all really really delicious and fresh. Hard to say what is shown in these pics because I didn't order it, but honestly I feel like you can't go wrong if you order sushi that optimizes for quality fish.
The one everyone remembers is the flaming sea bass roll! It's so cool, they bring it out to you on a tray of oil that they light on fire to cook it. It's sooo good. Get it if you can!
Will definitely return if I'm back in SF soon.
Very delicious meal. The miso soup was amazing. Each roll seems very intriguing and interesting. I got the White Dragon roll and it was really good. It doesn't seem like a lot of food, but honestly 1 roll was more than enough. Service was super fast too. Nice for a quick bite.
Sitting at the bar was great, the sushi was crafted in front of us and the chefs were very thoughtful. The food was amazing.
Great service and solid rolls. Highly recommend the Negi Tori, White Out and Ya Man rolls. The spicy salmon and naked scallops were not as good. We also received Hamachi Nigiri on the house which was so nice! This ended up being our group’s favourite dish from the night. One thing to note is that the rolls are not as flavoured on their own and require some soy sauce to taste better.
Visited from GA for the first time ever spending a day in San Francisco before driving down the coast. Stopped here for sushi based of the previous reviews, and OH BOY were we not disappointed. The place is small, but you are guaranteed excellent service. Fast, courteous and helpful. We got the Rei Ginjo sake ( SO GOOD), best Miso soup I've ever had, "Couple of babes" to start and then the Chef Ochko roll, Ya Man, and the Flaming Seabass roll. Each one was better than the first. Seriously, go here. Don't bother trying somewhere else. You will absolutely NOT regret it.
Food was fantastic, really great sushi selection and super fresh. Enjoyed our dinner! Service was a bit slow, it was a busy Friday evening though. Definitely get a reservation.
Came here for dinner. Put ourselves on the Yelp waitlist while we had a drink at Habibi Bar down the street, which was super convenient. Rolls are great! We had the negitoro (each piece has some uni on it, super worth it); white dragon; ya man; chef ochko; and naked scallop rolls. Everything was fresh and delicious and came out fast. Servers and host were all extremely kind and friendly, and clearly working hard since the place was packed. Definitely use Yelp waitlist or call ahead for a reservation because it does get busy. We were there Friday night.
Really nice little place in the hub of a few well known restaurants. Made a reservation, and let them know it was my daughter's 22nd birthday, they were so nice! Food is excellent, and service was too. Lovely, younger crowd, and a lot of fun.
Would definitely recommend.
Really great sushi! Highly recommend the flaming sea bass 🔥🔥
Great sushi in a tiny little restaurant!
Food was delicious, but the kitchen and service staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. We waited for a table that had been cleared for at least 10 minutes. Despite this everything else was great and well worth it!
My hubby and I came here for dinner before a symphony performance. The cocktails were on point, the sushi was pretty good, but the service was really slow. It took a long time for the hostess to show up to the front and check is in for our reservation and everything else took a really long time. It may have been they were short staffed due to the holiday weekend and perhaps some people called out. Because this was our first time here I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
I really thought this place was going to be overrated since I had heard it's hard to get in on a weekend night. We came in on a Wednesday early evening (just past 6pm) to avoid the crowds and a long wait and were so pleasantly surprised by the delicious and inventive food, attentive service and cute and cozy atmosphere. Can't wait to be back!
Wow! Friendly staff and awesome sushi! Staff even gave us some free tastings. Rolls were fresh and great quality. Couldn't recommend more
The best sushi I have had in San Francisco. We ordered a Ya Man roll and the chef roll, omakase, and nigiri omakase. Chef Ureil gave us complimentary sushi appetizer and it was delicious. Can’t wait to come back!
We went here before the symphony; it's perfectly placed for the symphony, opera and ballet. The menu is very appealing, with both innovative offerings and familiar favorites. The tempura was perfection, as was the chicken karaage. The spicy salmon roll was amazing, and the sashimi my husband had, was a lovely fusion with garlic and capers, an original revelation. The kitchen staff are working with quiet, careful precision; they could have been wearing lab coats instead of aprons. The sushi chef bestowed his latest experiment upon us, innovative and delicious. The bartender worked with equal focus, turning out beautiful, and delicious drinks. This is a talented and dedicated crew. And, it was refreshingly affordable, a win all around. Sadly, I didn't take pictures; the artistry of the food deserves to be shared.
I almost never write reviews but this was such a great place. Located on the top of Russian/Nob Hill, with cable cars passing by. The staff is super friendly, if you’re there early, there is no need to make a reservation.
We had a minor issue with our food but they were so nice about it and overcompensated with extra Sashimi and and an additional Maki roll.
Very good Sushi and Sashimi.
Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Live right around the corner and always walked past this place without eating here. Sushi was very fresh and made right in front of us and each roll was absolutely delicious. Must try!
