My review and experience of “Trattoria Da Vittorio”
First let me say that its nestled away in the West Portal Area of SF right by Sloat Blvd and Vicente St – easily accessible by Monterey Blvd, Highway 280 and Ocean Blvd. We have known Vittorio for 5 yrs and have finally made it to his restaurant. What a great night! The wife and I had a blast, we sat at the bar counter which gave a us a great view of the entire restaurant and the pizza maker. We started with salad, Caprese con Burrata and Organic Beet Salad. Both of them very flavorful, you could smell the freshness as they were placed in front of us. Our second plate, I had the special which was Pappardelle with Crab Meat with a white cream sauce. The pappardelle was cooked perfectly and the cream sauce smooth, no separation of ingredients. I swear I had a least a pound of fresh cooked crab on the plate. The flavor all put together was perfect. It wasn’t inundated by sauce and pasta, the crab actually stood out and tasted great. The wife had the Beef Boneless Short Ribs, complimented with veggies and polenta. All fresh and cooked perfectly. No need for a knife, the short ribs melted in your mouth, the veggies cooked perfect and the polenta added the final touch. No overuse of salt and craziness. Mind you, we got in around 6 PM, and the entire night there was a line outside of at least 15-20 people waiting with Kids! BTW – the pizza maker makes Mickey Mouse shaped pizzas for the kids – so a definite treat. If your kids are old enough to sit at a bar stool go and sit at the counter and watch him in action. Red wine cabernet with dinner – followed by a Cannoli and Tiramisu and Double Espresso for dessert. Best part about it, we ordered two pizzas to go to bring home to the kids. Overall – worth the trip to SF, had a great time, no rush, fresh food, great atmosphere, and a repeat for sure. Thanks Vittorio D'Urzo - see you again soon.
Great place for dinner what was of friends got seated pretty quick new favorite place it's family-friendly
I love this restaurant and the food is just amazing. Travel to Italy often and this place has it covered with Authentic Italian food. The service is amazing as well. Big thumbs up
I always feel at home here. They have the best Veal Scaloppini and drinks. Thanks Vittorio!
Just hit the places to eat near me, on our way out of San Francisco. We did a u turn and drove over. One of the best decision we made. The atmosphere alone was worth the stop. The workers the patrons everybody around was so nice. The wine was excellent! That's what got it a 5 star from me! The food alone gave it 10 stars more!! So good, fast, and did I say good? It was out if this world amazing. There is no way I don't come back on my next trip out to California!
un must a San Francisco ! Non rimarrete delusi !
This is my favorite pizza place! I'm doing it a disservice by describing it as a pizza place. It is a wonderful Southern Italian restaurant! I just love their pizzas so much! They have a great wine selection too, love the Vermintinos.
The seafood pasta is outstanding. Perfectly prepared and Trattoria Da Vittorio doesn’t skimp on anything! You’re going to love it!
LVE! One of our favorite spots! Vittorio and his team are so caring, genuine and top of the line customer experience!!
Great food and great service. The staff was helpful and we weren't rushed through our meal. Get there early!
My lasagna was perfection! The owner and the waiters treated our large group like family ...
My family and I, especially my Dad (Rudy), love the food and the atmosphere! Great people!
Great food and service! Wonderful little neighborhood spot! And that Uuovo pizza is delightful.
Now if only I could get them to up their wine game...
Service was so incredible, professional and warm. I had the Papardelle with Dungeness Crab in a cream sauce and my husband had the Eggplant Parmigiano with Chicken Cutlet both were delicious. The pasta tasted freshly made, the crab meat was cooked perfectly and the cream sauce was rich but not too heavy. The most remarkable thing about this restaurant is that it truly was a completely pleasant experience. Chef Vittorio and staff is welcoming, warm and intentional with patrons. The service is outstanding and the food is exceptional, worth the trip to SF!
We had best Italian foods, wine and awesome and quick services!everything served fresh and the friendly atmosphere makes it more desirable ! Love it:)
A great comfy neighborhood Italian restaurant in West Portal. It's not super fancy but serves authentic Italian food and drinks. I'm like most places in SF, the portion is fairly generous, and the price is affordable.
Very great food and great staff. Very busy inside as usual on a Saturday night, however the waiter did a great job and food still came out high quality as well as on time. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re going through 19th avenue. No reservations needed.
Really delicious and authentic Italian food! Service was great! Will definitely go back again!
We were looking for a lunch spot around the zoo when we came across this place. We got here and were immediately greeted and seated. We chose to sit outside, so we didn’t see much of the inside. Service was prompt and attentive. My husband got a pizza and I got the chicken Parmesan. Both of us enjoyed our food immensely. The portions were large and I had plenty to take home. The next time we come to San Francisco we will definitely try to come by again!
Excellent flavor, good drinks, terrific presentation. A little pricey but meets expectations for the prices.
Very good italian cuisine. We order the spaghetti and meatballs. It tastes very good and the meatballs are perfect according to my taste.. we also ordered the pizza.. it taste good too.. And don't forget to order the tiramisu and profiteroles for thr dessert..
This is by far my favorite Italian restaurant in the city! The location is really nice and safe, there’s parking, there’s outside seating area (for hot days) and so many options in terms of food including for people with dietary restrictions (I.e. gluten-free, dairy free) and the food NEVER disappoints in taste! I love coming here regularly, they’re so worth every penny! 😋
Was my first time there and was truly amazed! It’s rare nowadays to be able to walk into a bustling restaurant and be seated immediately. The food was incredible and the staff were so warm and friendly. This will be one of my favorite spots from now on :)
Dog friendly with only a few outdoor tables. Everything overall is good. The meatballs were a bit too lean for me but the flavor was good. We both like how thin the pizza crust was, reminds us of NY pizza. But the middle part was a bit soggy. We got chocolate souffle but it was more like a chocolate lava cake, which we didn't mind, it was good, not too sweet.
Food was good, as usual, with a few small letdowns. The tomato bruschetta was soggy rather than crunchy, the zucchini was fridge-cold, the eggplant parmigiana was smaller and a bit burnt on the edges, and they didn't offer the usual bread and oil to nimble on.
Otherwise, very nice and fast service. I loved my much needed carbonara fix.
We have been here several times and we are always extremely satisfied. The service is great, the food is amazing, the wine pours are generous, the outdoor seating is comfortable and the bathroom is clean.
Fresh ingredients. Fantastic service. Definitely a restaurant to go back to. Favorites were the pizza, eggplant parmigiana, ox tail pasta and the fried Nutella and tiramisu dessert was great too.
Very nice Italian cuisine restaurant. Fresh food, reasonable prices, and nice service.
Love this neighborhood Italian place with awesome pizza 🍕 (for kids, try the Mickey Pepperoni one) and delicious 😋 pasta too. Plus the team of waiters is awesome 👌!
Unacceptable lasagna, smothered w/ bland watery meat sauce. For $20 a plate it should taste better than the frozen stuff from Costco. Same for all the red sauce pasta dishes. Pizza is still very good here and the carbonara is some of the best in SF.
Went here for lunch today. Overall, decent Italian place. Service was meh- we had to ask for hot water with lemon 4 times before the waiter finally brought it.
We started with the organic kale salad, which was average, nothing special. For entrees my friend got the porcini mushroom raviolis, which were good, but the order only comes with 6 raviolis on the plate. My grandma had the spaghetti with meatballs. They have gluten free pasta for gluten free guests. I don't eat meat, so they created a truffle cream sauce pasta, gluten free for me, which was very good.
Portions aren't huge, so definitely recommend ordering a couple things if you're really hungry.

There are too many good restaurants in West Portal & Trattoria da Vittorio is one of them.
It's delicious & has a great wine selection & always a good vibe, service is excellent. Dessert is good, too. Highly recommend.
It's West Portal gem.
Unplanned weeknight dinner out for 2. Slightly more affordable italian food with generous servings. Would go again.
