Top notch spot, my favorite seafood in San Francisco. I really like the fish tacos and the $4 pacificos are on point. Really close to the beach and the staff is really friendly.

Flew in from Texas to SF for a Napa wedding. My husband found this gem for me on our way through as we were pressed for time. I had the grilled Rockfish and chips - amazing! My husband's tacos had him talking about it the rest of our trip. I could have flown in just to eat here and gone back home feeling content. The location, atmosphere, style, food - all made for a perfect food experience. AND - as busy as it was, I don't feel like we waited too long for our meal. The staff hustled the whole time.

If you're looking for fresh and local fish, this is the place. Friendly staff. Small communal dining area. Will be going back to try other things on the menu.

Great spot for seafood! We had four adults in our party; Hook Fish Co. is a walk-up restaurant with outdoor seating only. The seating is quaint and the road was not busy so it was pleasant. Highly recommend the fish and chips, fish was flaky and light with crispy batter similar to what you would get in Ireland or England, the fries seemed to be double fried and have a great seasoning; malt vinegar is available and a perfect accompaniment to both fish and chips. Also recommend the shrimp ceviche was tasty and unique with salmon chunks and pineapple. Grilled fish tacos were flavorful with many ingredients that blended well together. Smoked fish salad was good but the other dishes we had were preferred. They have a good selection of beer and wine. Prices are reasonable for most of the dishes since they provide decent portions for the price, only exception was the fish tacos, but it’s the catch of the day, so probably an acceptable price for fresh fish, which was delicious.

Ordered: Fish and chips- a must, the crunch on the fish fry is 🔥🔥 and the fry seasoning is delicious. Hamburger- satisfying, not my favorite Chips and guacamole - chunky guac(which I like) and the chips were solid and structured. Crab cakes - a light dish to share. I did like the dressing on the salad. If you're a diehard crab cake person, go for it. I can see myself coming back for sure. Some of the freshest, flakiest fish I've tried in the bay area. High quality and worth a visit. 4 stars because there's still more Id like to try.

Great little fish / seafood restaurant! There is no seating inside, all the seats are outside. The street is not busy at all so it was a very confortable environnement. There is not many seats, so you might have to wait a but at rush hour to find seating. The food was great! The fish is super fresh and well prepared. The side were also fresh and tasty. Recommended if you are in the neighborhood.

Such a great place! Definitely a gem! We took some take away fish and chips and tortilla with guacamole and ate it on ocean beach. Would highly recommend to take it away to eat it on the beach during sunset! The fish and chips was delicious and the sauce they put with the fries is also really good. The tortilla with guacamole were average and wouldn’t take it again. But just for the fish and chips and the location I highly advise to try this place! If you go on the beach it’s highly windy to be well covered!

A hidden gem that is right beside Ocean beach. It is a casual, laid-back outdoor restaurant perfect for a quick bite or a leisurely meal. The decor is coastal chic, with maritime accents that enhance the overall experience. The fish is as fresh as it gets as it gets, the fish and chips is what we ordered with a side of local beer. 5/5 would recommend.

Amazing fish and chips, don't forget the malted vinegar. Good beer selection. Awesome staff! The only bummer was the lack of seating. That said, it is just a demonstration of how great the food is so I can't be too sad about it. I will 100% be coming back.

Went here on a Sunday lunch rush and it was packed. We took our food to go and ate it in the park instead of their outdoor tables. We ordered the Fish n Chips (good) and Guacamole n Chips (amazing) as well as their soup of the day (not my favorite). They don’t have indoor dining so I guess it’s best to dine here only when it’s warm out. They have a restroom and the staffs were very friendly.

OVERALL - 5/5 Food - 5/5 Drinks - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Ambiance - 5/5 What an amazing neighborhood place!!! With such fresh seafood. Food - We tried the Tacos (fried rock cod) and the bleached fish sandwich. Both were mouth watering food. One could see the individual spice on the rub for the blackened fish. So yummy. They also sell fresh fish. Great selection of fresh local caught fish for sale. Drinks - Limited drinks menu, but good choices. Great IPA options with some wines. Service - It was order at the counter, get a pager and find your spot kind of place. So not table service, but the staff was helpful and friendly. Ambiance - Loved the vibe. Extensive parklet seating close to the ocean. People standing around for their orders or trying to find a table. Almost a quarter of a block seemed to be taken over by the restaurant and the waiting foodies. A must try for all fish lovers. 7-21-2023 - Dinner - Table for 2

Hook Fish Co. was really good, I really enjoyed my experience, for the most part. The employee taking my order was very nice and helpful, he knew it was my first visit. So he was very patient and knowledgeable. The employee who gave me my food was nice as well. The only issue was that I ordered and paid for salmon instead of the regular fish they had that day. Well, my burrito didn't have salmon. Unfortunate that it happened and that's the reason for not giving 5 stars. I have to admit, the burrito was still really good. Great flavor with the ingredients...I could only imagine how much better it would have been with salmon. Overall, I liked my experience. As I previously mentioned, the only bad thing was that my order wasn't entirely correct. Still, I'll return. I look forward to returning and enjoying the food, scenery, and the nice employees.

One of best restaurants in SF I was. After I paid I got a little thing, which blinks red and vibrates when food is ready (clever!). I bought fish and fries plus rise and beans. 👌👌👌 It‘s cheaper there and the food taste better than some other places in SF. Ambiente is also great. In german: „Taugt extrem“ 🤣

My Girlfriend and I were around Ocean beach and wanted to have something really good to eat. So we headed to Hook Fish because it was well reviewed in Google. Great choice for us 😁 Food very delicious, fast and friendly service and comfy location. You can maybe wait for 2-5 minutes for a seat, but it's worth it.

Such a great lunch stop. No regrets!!! Vibes were immaculate. Great fish. Nice version of a cafeteria lunch. Would recommend 10/10. Soup of a day was a curry coconut albacore. Poke burritos, plates, kids plates.

I ordered the fish&chips, it was delicious, freshly made, and the fried fish’s coating was light and crispy, I liked it a lot. Just a little bit pricey for fish and chips, but it’s my problem (I’m a foreign tourist, haven’t get used to the local price yet🤣) Would recommend to any of my friends if they plan to visit SF

Small burrito and fried fish place close by the Ocean beach in SF. Great place to sit down outside and unwind after visiting the beach. The food was decent and the service was very nice and speedy. The tuna burger was very tasty.

Food was pretty good :) the ceviche was excellent, fish with the fish and chips was excellent. The batter was light and delicious. The chips were nothing to write home about. The fish of the day was beautifully cooked. Everything was fresh :) it was a very busy day and we ended up waiting about 45 mins before we got our food, so if you're in a hurry I would recommend coming back when you have some time to spare.
