Shanghai House Restaurant - San Francisco - Photo album

The lady owner is very friendly and hard working. All the baos and wontons are homemade handmade, if you want to try authentic Chinese food, with a affordable price, this is the price. Chicken wings are quite big than all the other places I been to, even some famous lined up restaurant is no better
Stopped by for the ShengJian Bao with my girlfriend. Owner wasn’t the friendliest at first but definitely warms up to you(maybe because i shared that i lived in Shanghai for a while). Overall food was authentic and delicious, has two menus, one more authentic and another cater to American customers
Sheng Jian Bao is so good, you definitely need to try it! And the dry fried wings, better than all other places I went. I ordered take out, sheng Jian Bao still so good even I reheated it after I got home!
Saturday 11/25/23 Lunch at Shanghai House in San Francisco with my cousin, niece, and nephew. Delicious Shanghai foods; pand fried dumplings, dry chicken wings, satay beef clay pot, and shedded beef & Napa. David Young Restaurant Enthusiast
Very authentic dishes. Sheng Jian Bao is so good, you definitely need to try it! And wings, better than all other places I went. I ordered take out, sheng Jian Bao still so good even I reheat it after I got home in 20mins. So glad they survived the pandemic. We definitely will be back!
Note: Cash only. Shanghai house restaurant is a hidden gem near golden gate park (Spreckels lake). The restaurant is tiny (fit 8 tables) and easily to miss. I can understand why everyone complain about the service, but bare with it the food is definitely worth it. The wait for food was a bit longer
I’m almost unwilling to write a good review of this place out of fear that they’ll get really popular and I won’t be able to get a table anymore. That being said, though, this place is legitimately delicious. Dumplings for days.
This place once got shut down by health officials but I keep coming back and so do other customers. The only service there is the boss lady who can come off as rude to non-Asians but I find her just fine. Sometimes the quality is inconsistent depending on the month but it comes back around later on.
The extremely uncommon, at least on San Francisco dumpling menus, Sheng Jian Bao or pan fried Shanghai dumpling, is a must try. A cross between a soup dumpling and a potsticker, they are have a wonder flavor and great textual contrast between chewy wrapper, crispy wrapper, and a moist pork filling.
Enjoyed hot and spicy soup, garlic chicken, green beans and prawns. Owner isn’t socially outgoing but food was good.
The best XLB Dumpling in San Francisco... I'm saying it's the greatest thing ever in my mouth.... in the dumpling world 🌎 there back too in door dinning
Had a great meal tonight. Our favorites of Xiao Long Bao, clay pot rice, dried fried chicken wings and Shanghai Meatballs were delicious! Love the crispy edges of the rice and they have the best XL bao in town. (Google had it mislabeled as Temporarily Closed. )
Best xlb I've had so far (yes, even better than Din Tai Fung),and amazing pork belly!
