Absolutely me and my wife’s favorite Shabu spot in the bay for AYCE Shabu Shabu. We’ve been coming here since prepandemic and the server Teresa would always take care of us and offer friendly service. It’s easy to make a reservation through Yelp. The interior feels cozy and has stuff animals on the bench seating with pictures and details of the broths they offer on the right wall.
The numerous broths they offer are all flavorful and unique which you can’t find at most shabu/hot pot places. Our personal favorites are:
1) Szechuan spicy pickled cabbage which is peppery and sour with a bit of a kick.
2) Sukiyaki broth which is savory and sweet that compliments and enhances the sweetness of the nicely marbled wagyu beef they offer. This is the broth we miss from Japan that this place satisfies our craving for.
3) Spicy miso which is common amongst shabu restaurants but they add more miso in theirs which taste more flavorful and is actually spicy.
We always order the wagyu beef which they slice thinly and the meat is well marbled so it melts in your mouth, our second favorite is the New Zealand lamb which always taste fresh and not gamey at all.
Here are our favorites from the menu that’s included in the AYCE:
Vegetable platter - Can’t decide? It comes with a variety of their veggies
Tsumire Bamboo Rolls - minced wagyu beef w/ negi(green onion) or corn
Chicken Kara-age - nice and crispy to get the appetite going.
Takoyaki fries- comes with the sweet and slightly tangy Takoyaki sauce topped w/ bonito flakes.
Cilantro Wagyu dumplings - flavorful dumpling to go with their broth and not overpowered by cilantro.
House sake- check-in and you get a bottle for 50 cents
Lastly they offer you a complimentary dessert at the end of your meal which is a bowl of vanilla ice cream with a brown sugar syrup and kinako powder and it is SO addictive and delicious.
If this place was near where I lived, I'd go here at least once every week. This place was able to satisfy the shabu-cravings I've had since I moved to SF. It's a shame that I didn't take more photos (because I was busy eating). The food was great and the price was reasonable. There are about 8-10 tables inside, but it wasn't super busy or packed on a Friday night. You could reserve your seats in advance, which I always appreciate.
Wow! My favorite shabu house hand's down. And it's not just because they have cat-themed decorations everywhere (including framed photos of cats along the wall and cats all along the menu). The place is so quirky and cool. There's not a lot of space, so I heard there's usually a wait. But we went on a Wednesday at 5:30, and it was pretty easy to get a table.
It's all-you-can-eat, and if you like alcohol, you might as well go with the premium. You can have two broths so we got the umami sea kelp and the spicy garlic miso. The umami sea kelp was a bit bland - the spicy garlic miso was perfect. The orders were fulfilled quickly, and I loved how easy they make it.
I would definitely come back and will recommend to all my friends when they ask for the best hot pot place in the city.
The service is warm and very nice
Food quality excellent+. The veggies are fresh fresh and proteins are pique
Make a reservation, they do get lots of parties on weekends so be patient
It’s my go-to for shabu and I live on the other side of town
Awesome hot pot place with lots of cat pillows and cat themed stuff (which is a major selling point for me). The service is excellent.
Would recommend the spicy garlic miso broth and the fresh watermelon juice for a drink. Also if you wanna try something little unique, the soy milk miso was really good and interesting. I'd put leafy stuff like cabbage and black fungus in it.
Most amazing shabu shabu :”0 All you can eat option, great pricing, whimsical cat themed atmosphere, great tasting food and drinks and great selection of choices. Very kind staff! Not crowded either when I went which I love. All the 5s.
One of the better AYCE shabu joints in the area. Fresh ingredients, super savory soups, awesome service. I recommend getting the garlic miso and tonkotsu broth, and the JIn Pot Tsumire was BOOOMB! Def coming back!
I’ve been to Jin Pot Shabu with my girlfriend several times and I haven’t been disappointed once. It’s all you can eat hot pot style cuisine and it’s delicious. I highly recommend!!
I sincerely don't understand how this place could have less than five stars average rating, unless people deduct half a star for the fact that it's noisy and the tables are close together, but...
The menu selection is incredible, the quality of the meat is phenomenal, the broths are freaking exquisite and they have TONS of options, and the wait staff were literally one of the nicest and most helpful I've ever experienced.
The price is also more than fair for AYCE.
I can't wait to eat here again. Maybe with a party of four instead of two in order to get a more spacious corner table.
they stop serving at 8, you will get refused.
the spicy miso soy milk broth is one of the best broths i’ve ever had
the markers need to be replaced, they have no ink
good quality food and produce
my go to hot pot so far
Great atmosphere, presentation of food is thoughtful. Karage chicken is so tasty, as well as the sweet broth and lamb shoulder. My partner and i are addicted and wait all day without eating so we can stuff our faces when they open in the afternoon
Great AYCE options, try to go at an off hour so there is less of a wait.
Super high quality meat. Great unique broths. Ice cream and appetizers are included. They have an all you can drink option. 31 vs 41 not bad at all. Definitely worth trying. I'd say top tier for shabu in SF.
We’ve been here multiple times and we love it every single time. I have yet to find an all you can eat hot pot place with better quality meat. Their meats are fresh and tender and perfectly portioned. Like I mentioned it’s all you can eat so there’s no limit on how much you can eat. There is a 90-minute time limit, however we have not run into any issues with time. I would recommend going on a weekday night. It’s a small restaurant so it’s packed on weekends. They do have a yelp waitlist that you can join, and you can also make your reservations through yelp as well. There is a parking garage nearby but they have odd hours so I would recommend planning on street parking. The downside of restaurant is that they don’t have a sauce bar. They only offer one sauce that comes out pre-made. Another downside is that you can’t order specific seafood items by itself. They do offer a seafood platter which is good if you’re with a group but not for smaller parties. They have a delicious dessert that they serve at the end. It’s vanilla ice cream topped with brown sugar powder. It’s super light and refreshing at the end of the meal. For anyone who has not yet visited this spot, I highly recommend them!
The AYCE is the best! The broths are delicious - recommend the Spicy Mala. For the sides, the Vegetarian medley and Mushroom medley had a good mix of everything. Loved the Black Garlic Tsumire! The outside section is quite cozy even when it's cold out. The wait staff are super nice and remember to check in on you when sitting outside too. The inside looked quite lively as well.
The house sauce and spicy mala is amazing. Service has gotten faster and the ice cream is a nice finish to the meal.
Solid place for shabu/hotpot all around! I'll admit I stumbled upon this place after one of our go-to shabu spots was no longer taking walk-ins for the evening. Well guess what? Jin is now my go-to spot.
I've probably been visiting this place weekly since the start of the 2021 NBA Finals. My whole family loves it here. Before I start talking about the food, the staff here makes this place amazing. The gentleman still seems rather new but is slowly getting the gist of things. Service is on point and the staff is extremely patient. Requests from turning down the music, changing the tv channels, and slight modifications to the food, they do not disappoint.
One of the reasons why I like this place so much is because they offer the lean wagyu. Believe it or not, not a lot of places serve it because they feel that the fattier the beef, the better. Well not for me and my family. The lean cut they serve here has just the right amount of marbling and not chunks of fat. I don't have to pick off the fat for myself or my kids, which constantly complain about the excessive fatty pieces. I like to taste a bit of fat but also taste the beefy flavor, the perfect ratio.
Jin is a must try, from their beef to the housemade meat balls! Jin too will be your go-to shabu spot!
Shabu House is one of the best restaurants in the entire city! Their all-you-can-eat shabu with beef is one of the best things to eat! For not much more than the cost of the one plate of beef and veggies, you can have as many plates as you want - I think it's $39.
Their green tea ice cream that comes with it is really good as well.
Outdoor dining was cozy while the hot pot burner was running and the staff was good about checking in and refilling even though it requires a lot of back and forth from them. I definitely recommend the soy milk base. It's really delicious!
