A coworker told me that she had been checking out British pubs in the city because she was preparing for a trip to England. I thought to myself why I had never thought about looking for a British pub. I am constantly reading all things British. After a hike I stopped by and wow, yes it was absolutely worth it. I absolutely love the Shepard’s pie. I love the ambiance. The bartender was great. I really am looking forward to stopping by again.

The Pig and Whistle is as good a British pub as you can find in the City. The front room where the bar is can get loud, but there is a quiet back room where you can eat, drink and talk if you don't feel like bar energy. The fish and chips were fantastic. The fish was firm but moist and its batter was crispy and delightful. My friend had the Chicken Masala Curry which hit all the right flavor notes. They make a fine Manhattan.

I was taking the long way back from Saragosa and did a flip flop on Geary blvd so I could see my old pal'et from my stompin days, Ol Hybiscuss Trotterdale. She's got a speakeasy there on Geary, so I thought I'd pop in for a pop and spotted The Pig and Whistle right up the street...how convenient, I can grab a quick dinner too. Ol Hybiscuss wasn't in, so I went straight to the Pig and Whistle, I went in for fish and chips but when I saw the beef pie on another table, that was it for me. It was spectacular! ☆☆☆☆☆

Great English pub with the yummy pub food. Came just for drinks during our last visit. Lots of folks eating dinner at the bar. They have outdoor seating for when the sun decides to come out. Have been coming here over the years. Great place to watch a game, a meal, or a drink. Not pretentious. Heartily approved by my expat husband and friends.

The Pig & Whistle serves goujon sized fish & chips $13.75. I would have preferred one whole piece like how they do it in London. The ratio of batter and fish was good. The outside was crispy and soft on the inside. This was delicious. Too bad they didn't have mushy peas or regular peas as a side. The sausage rolls $6.75 were also terrific. Bonus points for having HP sauce on the tables. They have a great selection of beers on tap. I enjoyed my few pints of Firestone Union Jack IPA, London Pride and Stella. Great job bartenders and chef at The Pig & Whistle. This is a fun bar.

This place has a pretty authentic full English breakfast. Admittedly it’s missing the pudding, but basically no American place gets it all right. I noticed that they did have HP brown sauce, for you Brits and Anglophiles. They also do a really good, spicy bloody mary.

Cask ales, proper fish and chips and football. This English pub is just class.

Came in on a random Tuesday afternoon after doing errands and really enjoyed the vibe. Locals were already there, more came in, good ebb and flow, great staff, had the premier league on while I got there and changed to darts after it was done. Ordered the fish and chips and they were some, I’d not the best I’ve had in the city. Very cozy and awesome.

The setting evokes an Irish feel. Beers on tap, sausage rolls and fish and chips. Stop by if you have medical appointments at Kaiser at Geary. That’s what we did and we were happy with our choice for lunch!
