Stumbled upon Mama’s during our visit in December and on a Friday morning we waited about 45 minutes outside getting there a little after 8 am. The food was absolutely delicious - I had the cinnamon French toast with a side of bacon and grapefruit juice. My wife had the Monte Cristo and a pancake with berries, and her’s too was delicious. The staff are very friendly and polite and the food hits your tables almost right after you sit down. Was back visiting this weekend and had to take my daughter. We went on Sunday and got there about 9:30. We waited 2.5 hours but the food was well worth the wait. We both had French toast, me the cinnamon with fresh fruit & my daughter the chocolate cinnamon with fresh fruit. We both had bacon, and a side of scrambled eggs. I normally don’t eat eggs but these were so fresh & delicious. My daughter even skipped adding ketchup they were so good. Once again the staff was exceptionally friendly and provided great service. Talking to a staff member outside, if the line reaches the back door of Mama’s you’re looking at 45-60 min wait from there, so you can gauge your wait looking at the line. I’ll be going to Mama’s for breakfast every time I visit SF.

Okay okay okay... so the other reviews on this place are pretty spot on. We came here based off the 3.5k reviews and 4.5 Stars on yelp. The line was long but we met locals in the morning who told us what to order. The French toast sampler is basically to die for. Who ever thought to make banana bread into French toast!!?!?! This place was yummy and worth the wait. Kinda sucks that they don’t take credit cards though... especially for the price of all the meals (~$14 a plate).

Mama's opens at 8am and we got there at 7:10am and we were the 10th people in line. It was well worth the wait. My husband got the Dungeness crab omelette and I got the Bay shrimp omelette and we shared the French Toast Sampler. Everything was amazing, including the best raspberry jam I've ever eaten. So happy we decided to have breakfast at Mama's!

Food is always fresh & tasty with a great range of choice on the menu. Staff are excellent, well mannered and fast service too. As a visitor to San Francisco it’s always my first port of call for breakfast or brunch and make it a point to go as often as possible

Worth the wait to stand in line! I promise next trip it'll be the first breakfast I have and maybe lunch!

Yummy! The eggs Benedict were fantastic .. I had the “North beach” ones. The pancakes and French toast were awesome too.. the wait was a bummer but if you are not in a rush and are a patient person... worth trying!

A good brunch place but can’t agree more to other reviews that place is a little cramped, but it’s definitely worth it to queue for less than an hour The crab benedict is good and french toast is bomb! The unpeeled potatoes were perfectly cooked and crispy still, and the sweet jam sauce was a perfect pair - taste like a cranberry sauce in the sweeter side. However, parking is a bit hard too so might need to get uber or try your luck to find one.. Worth the hype and good brunch place!

The space was a little cramped, but it made the whole experience feel like you were eating on the kitchen at your childhood home and I think that vibe made up for it. The eggs were somehow fluffy and creamy all at once, and the fresh orange juice was addicting. Everything tasted amazing. Highly recommend going first thing on a Saturday before the line gets too long. That being said, there wasn't much of a wait when we arrived (9am on a Saturday).

Food is awesome, staff is also really friendly and thoughtful. We had our two baby stroller inside together with our pup (seated at the end of the restaurant so our dog wouldn’t disturb other customers as well) they gave us the best service and our dog got so many good doggy treats too. Our go-to brunch place when we’re in town.

Came here based on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The Monte Cristo sandwich was amazing. Perfectly cooked, light golden brown and just the right temperature inside (not cold). Service was quick and staff was very friendly. They even treated us to an anniversary carrot cake which was fantastic. It's a small place but we managed to find a seat right away. Overall a terrific place to have a meal.

Had a great brunch here with my boyfriend. I had the dungeness crab Benedict which is quite pricey being a local crab, but delicious nonetheless. My boyfriend had the breakfast sandwich, which was also a great meal. Depending on when you go you'll be seated in less than 20min, however, during rush brunch hour it can take some time to get a table.

Deserving of its award of best breakfast. Such good, rich food. The bread for the french toast is what made the dish a true 11/10. Delicious pancakes and the best fresh fruit. Also nice coffee drinks. We had a little bit of a wait to get in, but the staff were quick to get tables bussed for the next group. Food was a bit of a wait, but for how small the kitchen is and packed it was, totally understandable.

First time eating here and the food definitely did not disappoint! I had the Lox and Bagel with smoked salmon which was so refreshing and so delicious and my husband had the Norwegian smoked salmon eggs Benedict and both were amazing! Highly recommend this spot for breakfast/lunch. Make sure you go super early because there will be a line for breakfast! Lunch time usually does down and isn't as busy and they still serve breakfast items which is great!

Mama's deserves a higher rating over 4.5. The southern border might be a mess these days but I had a south of the border omelette and it was really good. I really like the Spanish chorizo in it. There was one smiling nice and warm server that made the service high level. If you're in the north beach area in SF and craving some good brunch, visit Mama's and you'll love it.

"Mammas" is undeniably a top-notch choice for breakfast in San Francisco, and my wife and I had an exceptional dining experience there. The moment we stepped inside, we were charmed by the quaint and homey interior, which exuded warmth and comfort. The open kitchen added an exciting element to the atmosphere, allowing us to witness the culinary magic in action. Now, onto the star of the show – the French toast sampler. It was a breakfast dream come true. This sampler allowed us to explore a range of delectable flavors, from the comforting banana bread to the more adventurous options like the cranberry and orange. Each slice was perfectly cooked, achieving that ideal balance of crispness on the outside and a melt-in-your-mouth interior. To complement our breakfast, we ordered vanilla lattes. The coffee was expertly brewed, and the infusion of sweet vanilla added a delightful twist. It was a harmonious blend of flavors that provided the perfect caffeine boost to kickstart our day. Leaving "Mammas" was bittersweet, but one thing's for sure – we'll be back. This charming eatery left an indelible mark on us, and we can't wait to return for more French toast adventures and those heavenly vanilla lattes. If you're in San Francisco and appreciate a warm ambiance, diverse breakfast options, and exceptional coffee, "Mammas" is an absolute must-visit.

Mama's is known for their Monte Cristo sandwich and it did not disappoint! Big servings, responsive service, cozy ambiance. We chose a table al fresco to enjoy the lovely day and greenery of Washington Square. Will come back for the Monte Cristo!

We waited well over an hour to eat here. Once inside, you wait again but it wasn’t too bad. We ordered and I could t beleiveniced tea was $5.50. (We were told they give refills, but we were never checked on for a refill.) Two omelets, pancakes and 2 Teas was $76. FYI. We found a table outside which we were very happy about! When the food came, the girl said “this is our homemade jam we make fresh w wry day.” It was only on one plate, and she said “do you want some too?” Ugh yes, (obviously). IT NEVER CAME! We def won’t be back

This is my favorite breakfast spot in the world, hands down. The service is great, the ambiance is great and homey, and the line is worth it. But the monte cristo man, the MONTE CRISTO is out of this world. And the jam. You really cannot ask for a better sandwich than this. If I could I’d made the 6 hour drive up for this sandwich alone.
