How can you not like a student run restaurant where they are honing their skills to be the best in F&B. And they try harder. This visit I had the special soup of cashew and snap peas with coconut milk/cream. The asparagus salad had a light crunchiness with a bright lemony dressing. The grilled tri-tip was a little miss in that it was not hot, but other than that, the flavor and texture were fine. For dessert the special angel food cake with macerated strawberry was a delightful end to the meal. I highly recommend supporting Educated Palate, but be mindful that it is a learning place and the pace is a little slower, but I prefer to call it leisurely.
We come all the way from Stockton to enjoy this wonderful little restaurant. The food always delicious and the desserts are amazing. I always marvel on how much the students learn in such a short time. I only wish I lived closer.
Thank you for the tasty food and service! I tried the carrot soup and the fruit tarte. I'll definitely be returning soon.
Everyone was super friendly and the food was brilliant. Come support up and coming superstars in the food industry!
First visit was delightful! Their fall buffet reception costs $30 (tax included) and was worth far more. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious, and the presentation was perfect. The highlight of lunch was the dessert room. I can only describe it as dessert heaven! Dozens of different miniature bite sized pastries and parfaits and baked goods. I wish I had a separate stomach for dessert so that I could have tried everything.
It was my first time here. Looking over the selections, it's definitely one of those places where the sooner you get there, the better buying options you have. At least I have one more chance next Thursday(last time this year) to buy what I missed this time.
Great menu, great service from the SF City College Culinary School students. Ate here three days this week and the quality of food and service was consistently excellent. One of the days I did try the Chocolate Mousse desert and it was amazing. The menu has a reasonable amount of variety, but was the same during the entire week. I highly recommend Educated Palate if you're looking for something a but different, relaxed, and very conveniently located at 4th and Mission.
Loved this place! The food was fantastic. The atmosphere quiet and quaint. As others mentioned, the staff is in training and will stumble through your order, but they are earnest in their quest to learn and desire to serve. We all start somewhere. Be patient with the little foibles and have a fabulous meal at a great price. Highly recommend!
As part of San Francisco City College's culinary training, students obtain first-hand experience in participating in a restaurant business by working in this facility. I feel as though we have received 5-star quality food, service and ambiance for very reasonable prices, whenever we have come here. I recently had a perfectly cooked poached salmon entree followed by a scrumptious pumpkin mousse. All I could say is - "YUM!".
The staff is attentive to your needs and make you feel very special. We plan to come back soon!
Really good food, and service that tries very hard to make you happy. I will definitely go here again. It's genuine fine dining at half the price (or less). No alcohol on the menu, and there may be mistakes, but you will feel like kindly tolerating anything that happens.
Great food. Very tasty and different from the common food standards, while stile in the reasonable price range. The pan-seared salmon was just right, and the chocolate mousse dessert was perfect.
The students are super cute (serious and nervous) and pay a lot of attention to the guest. Food was great, but it took some time for it to come out, so, not the best place if you are in a big rush.
No better bang for your buck in SF. Great location and while this is a student run restaurant, you wouldn't know it. Try it!
Food and service was amazing. Cheap and delicious. My favorite restaurant.
