A real gem in the Mission. I like the specificity of their menu - ramen for dinner, Japanese curry rice and a small selection of bar snacks for lunch. It reminds me of a small food shop in Japan. I had the curry for lunch with an Asahi beer - comforting and filling. The sesame dressing on the seaweed salad was delicious. The jellyfish salad was average. I loved the homey atmosphere. It's the type of place that attracts a regular crowd.
Pretty good vegan ramen, it's great that they have vegan noodles to do with it.
Ramen was pretty good. The pork belly could have been cooked longer to make it more tender, it was a bit tough to get through. The marinated egg was cooked well, it was still soft to blend with the broth to make it creamy. The noodles still had a bit of bite to them, which I appreciate. My friends also got the soft shell crab, which was pretty good, but you only get one crab.
Very friendly staff with great food. The curry for lunch is awesome and filling. Their seaweed salad is massive and very tasty. The ramen ingredients are great, the pork is plentiful and cooked to perfection. They lose serious points for the broth though, which is fairly average. Not a ramen broth that leaves you drinking from the bowl at the end of the meal.
The bathroom is really cool and funny.
Had the shoyu ramen, was not disappointed. delicious, savoury and slightly piquant broth, perfectly cooked eggs and pork.
they put arugula in, something I've never had before. loved it. it adds a bitter and crunchy element which sets off the savoury aspects nicely.
good value for the price, I left very full. I did wish there was a larger helping of noodles but definitely not a big issue.
decent beer selection as well, with rotating tap from black sands.
decoration is also great, very interesting and cozy in the back part.
definitely recommend as an intimate lunch/dinner spot for visitors to the area. will be back for sure!
This is some of the best ramen I've had. I'm a big fan of their soft boiled eggs they are perfectly cooked and savory, not over cooked. This is a great place to eat with friends. You will have plenty to talk about from their delicious broths to their plant life wash room.
I only eat here for lunch. I've never had dinner or the ramen. I've had the vegetarian and the pork Curry. But I must admit that I prefer the half and half with seaweed salad. It gets me every time. They're consistent in quality and service. If you time it right, you can miss the lunch rush as well. It's a shame they closed down unexpectedly.
This was my first introduction to ramen style soft boiled eggs, and holy good god, they are so good. In the mission, this is probably the best ramen you're gonna get. On Fridays and Saturdays the line can be significant (like most decent places in the mission).
Also, this has nothing to do with their food, but their bathroom is amazing, and potentially one of the coolest I've been in.
Excellent staff, always amazing specials for cocktails (even holiday themed), ramen was TO DIE FOR. They have exactly what you're looking for, just ask the server what is right for you. They have different thicknesses for broth, vegetarian, vegan, and even for meat lovers. I HIGHLY reccomend this place and I can't wait to go back. Oooo we also had a tofu salad that was SO good, it could use more tofu but I only say that because I could eat a pound of tofu in one sitting
The ramen is decent, the atmosphere is great - very funky bar area, nice dining area, and fun bathroom. The ramen miso was better than the yuzu, which was interesting but had an odd sweet peppery flavor which was good to taste but I didn't want a full bowl. Make sure to get there early if you want the Tan Tan - they were out by 8pm when I was there).
What a fantastic hidden gem! Such delicious authentic ramen and the setting is fantastic; authentic Japanese decor mixed with modern minimalist style. The restroom is a jungle! Really! Great choice of sake and appetizers at the bar too
Best ramen in the mission, but the lines are often quite long and I don't believe this place takes reservations. Make sure to ask about the daily specials. The menu is good, but daily specials are often better. Also, good, inexpensive sake selection.
Note: ramen only served during dinner service and on weekends and specialty ramen are only served on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Japanese curry here is pretty authentic and legit. Ask for their special garlic and chili sauce if you like your curry with some extra kick. I also like their jelly fish salad here - crunchy and tangy, perfect summer day dish.
No ramen served for lunch but their curry makes a great meal. And it is decently priced @ $8 w/tax. Only the bar at the front is operational for lunch (about 10 seating) plus a 4-people table next to it. Pretty much only curry is served, with pork in it or a vegetarian version. The pork is cooked in the curry in small bits (as opposed to having the curry poured on top of tonkatsu). The curry is not too thick and is really tasty.
Good ramen, especially unique in the Mission. Long wait though, 45+ minutes, and they were already out of miso by the time we sat down. Service was good, our waitress was very friendly. Some kinks to work out, but I think it will keep better better with experience.
