Very unique place where coffee is served by a bot. You'll have to place the order from a kiosk in the coffee shop. Once you've placed the order, the bot starts making your coffee in the order it's placed. Once it's ready, you'll receive a pickup code which you'll input in another kiosk in front of the bot and it lowers the coffee for you through a pickup window. The experience by itself was very exciting and a must try. We had cap and chai latte and both were equally good. Would definitely visit when I'm back in the city

Cute gimmick. Good coffee at a reasonable price. Fun to watch the robot.
Be prepared to wait as much as a minute after you see the robot make your coffee before you get the pick up code. It can take that long for YOUR wireless provider to get the text to you.

Totally surprised with the quality of coffee this machine produced! Temperature and flavor are both on point. I highly recommend, not even for the novelty, this is just good coffee delivered fast. No absurd wait times. They even have an app you can order ahead.

Order from the kiosk and the robotic machine makes the ice mocha. Less than 2 mins. Fast and taste great! I will definitely try their other drinks next time like the matcha tea

Great coffee by a Robot Barista. You order your coffee through a tablet, then wait and watch the Robot barista make it. There’s a person in the coffee shop to help you with Q&A . Price was reasonable $4 for a small drop coffee. Totally diff experience down in San Fran.

Cool place - the hot chocolate is the best I’ve tasted here in San Francisco. The place was a bit hard to find, but it is inside the mall on the ground floor. Enter from the door closest to the park. Also, if you download their app you’ll get a free drink.

A good cup of coffee with a fun display of robotics.
I had a promo code and decided to try a cup on my way to work. Came in early today before the Metreon was even open and found them finishing up tuning the Intelligentsia coffee with one of the roasters. The interface was very simple and my latte was ready quickly. It was cute to watch the robotic arm making the coffee while I waited. By the end I had a latte that was just as good as any I've had in the city.
I'd be curious what's going on in the machine that actually dispenses the coffee and milk. Is the same sort of attention to detail (ground size, water temp and pressure, and milk steaming) going into it as when its made by hand? It'd be cool if some of those mechanics were see through to make the process even more transparent (sorry for the pun). Either way, it was a solid latte for way less than I can get at a regular cafe with a pretty high tech gimmick. I'll certainly be back.

This is a really fun experience! I love this cute little robot!!
The coffee is pretty decent - it's not the best in SF but it IS made by a robot which is pretty novel.
There is also a SECRET KIDS MENU - if you select no coffee beans, then you can get a hot chocolate or fluffy flavoured with syrups.
It's really cool to pre-order the coffee as you're walking there (they have an app and are offering $10 free credit on their website at the moment) and then see it waiting for you! The machine then picks it up and WAVES AT YOU!!
At the moment you can only pre-order one coffee at a time, but they said they are working on multiple orders.
The employees were really nice too - they went out of our way to ask us how their experience was and shared in our robot joy.

I was really surprised that a robot could make such a good coffee! No seriously... it was really good. And entertaining too. Their story is pretty cool is as well. They had coffee connoisseurs, who really care about their art, program the robot so that you get exactly what you are expecting... perfect roasted beans and your coffee served at just the right temperature.

Coffee: solid. It was good coffee, nothing mind blowing. You get to choose your own beans!
Entertainment: the robot arm only does the serving and setting up, the rest is an automated machine that pumps out espresso and milk. I wish it did more but it was cool to see regardless.
Service: great! You order from an iPad, get notified when the coffee is ready, and the wait wasn't bad.
Overall, I would get this coffee again if I'm at the metreon but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

By far the most unique and engaging coffee experience. I'm a big coffee critic and would regard their single origin and other coffee varietals as high quality as it gets. Not only unique but coffee that packs a punch on the go. Highly recommend!

Looks like a fun project from a science expo. Lol. Coffee ordering and pick up experience is so cool. It has the option to choose the type of coffee beans you need like peet's coffee, etc, quantity of sugar... I think you don't get any condiments to add by yourself, you just have to specify while ordering and the machine does for you.

On days that you're grumpy not wanting to talk to anyone, but still want your cuppa joe. You can definitely do it here. It's not staff by human so the chances for a mistake is quite rare. The robot like machine goes by the input you put in and follow it through till the end. It doesn't have recommendations as to what you should have in your coffee. Best deal about this, is that it taste pretty good. Tools for a drink are as follows: cellphone with texting availability and credit card. Just follow instructions and wait, as simple as 1-2-3.

What a cool experience. I used the POS instead of the app. I was impressed with the brand of beans offered and even more impressed with the speed, accuracy and taste of the coffee. I can see "Gordon's" siblings being welcome additions to airports, public transportation stations and anywhere that time is a factor.

Really cool, robotic arm that serves up cups of coffee inside The Metreon. I like the concept and the experience of the self checkout. There is a table with about six seats, but most orders are for grab and go. Also, there's a friendly human helper if you get stuck during the ordering process.

It is pretty cool to see a robotic arm making a hot chocolate for me. However, I feel like the price is a little higher than what I expect. I mean, since the coffee is made by a robot, isn't the price should be lower?

I had the hot chocolate and it was really good. I think price wise, it's acceptable. Cafe X should consider adding flavour shots to the hot chocolate.
I am from out of town, Canada (toronto), what are the chances of expanding your coffee X business in Canada, like Toronto based malls and shopping centers? I would recommend you look at Scarborough Town Center, Fairview Mall, York Dale, which all have lot of traffic (people).
Also, people from Canada would like organic type of products, such as your brands.
Thanks.

Wonderful presentation love this place. I visited twice in the same day. Great tasty coffee. Worth it . Try it ypu will love it too. The presentation was a live robot making your special drinks. Dancing, waving hello, great place.

Other than to harvest valuable consumer data (the combination of a credit-card and cell-phone number), what's the point of this service? It's an instant coffee machine that produces a dreadful cup of coffee, served via a robot arm whose environment is so controlled, whose scope of movement is so limited, that even as a demonstration of modern robotics it also fails utterly, too. Utterly pointless.

It’s a great experience! I loved it, it’s so easy, quick and the coffee is delicious!
