Excellent steakhouse. Varied wine menu, albeit a bit pricey with not too many affordable options. Steaks were terrific and service was top notch.
Everything was really great except for how they cooked my steak. Class place. Servers really know their stuff and all work well together. They all make sure you are taken care of as their customer.
I ordered the Filet Mignon medium rare, wife ordered the New York steak rare. Mine came to me rare, really red and cool in the center, and hers came medium rare. You would think for a $50 steak it should come perfect. I didn't have any time to send
back.
Lobster salad was awesome!
Highly recommend the prime rib.
I like coming here. The salmon and grilled chicken is good. Come early dinner it's not busy. It's a nice quiet place to have a meal
East coast dark wood bar and grill feel. Great happy hour. Nice juicy burgers and steaks. Good cocktails in a lively atmosphere make it a great place to stop after work.
This is a high-end steakhouse. The prices are very expensive. The food is very good, but you will pay dearly for it. The service is good and the decor and atmosphere is opulent. I had the Ahi Tuna. It was very good and came with a small amount of ginger, which of course was reminiscent of sushi.
I went here twice: one in June 2021 - my high school grad. month - and on November 11, 2023. I admit that they have a kind staff and they care about their customers. Though their menu changes frequently, I admit they serve a very delicious side dish of creamed spinach, my favorite.
However, I couldn't take another bite when I was told - in my dining group - to eat more than they can chew. Perhaps, it's the delicious appetizers/starts and creamed spinach I had. On the plus side, I didn't feel sick from the meals; no food poisoning after. Overall, this place is a great place to eat like a fancy fellow.
The dry aged ribeye is fantastic!!
Asparagus is also amazing!
Wonderful cheese cake as perfect ending!
Although a little pricey, this was another great pick. I chose Crab and Lobster Cake with saffron aioli, herb oil, lemon vinaigrette, fennel salad, apple, and popcorn shoots (starter as a meal), with a side of Roasted Brussels Sprout & Broccolini.
My trip to this place was mostly great. The food was outstanding. I ordered a medium steak but got well done. It did taste marvelous though. Super tender. My date was satisfied with her salmon as well. The service was a little lacking in my opinion. I felt our waiter was being snarkey because we didn't order any drinks. He was somewhat passive aggressive throughout until I tipped him well (the food was great) then he became civil again. Food though... outstanding. The atmosphere was pleasant as well. It was empty when we went, so we got to take a look around.
The quality and taste of the steaks are no doubt excellent. Love the grilled asparagus.
Selection of beer (for people like me from Europe) is too thin.
Went for a nice steak dinner and was blown away. Started with calamari and crab cakes. The calamari is not your standard rings deep fried, they are thick cut calamari steaks and out of this world good. Our main meals were too notch. Alan was our server and he was amazing. Nice work.
The Grill - review
This is a great alternative to Flemings. You’ll love it here if they are fully staffed. The food is really good and the ambiance is great. You can also sit outdoors for a sunny meal with a breeze. This is an anniversary dinner type of place. It’s a place where you have an important meeting. Lots of lawyers hang out here. The prices are such to attract a certain crowd. If you’re looking for exclusivity, it’s your place.
Drinks are very strong. Highly recommend the old fashioned
Bread is hard and butter is not softened.
Ordered lobster bisque but not much lobster in it, not even one small tail of lobster. It is very tasty and rich. It’s delicious.
Crab cake looks awful but tastes amazing. Very poor and lazy plating. No pride was taken in the presentation.
Pinot Grigio tastes delicious.
Parking - little to none
Time to be acknowledged immediately
Time to be seated - 5 min , very understaffed
One group of four gentlemen sat down and then actually left before even getting service because there’s only the bartender helping out everyone in the bar area. Currently 7 customers. They would have made 11. Missed opportunity.
145p arrival on a Monday
The host got there at 1:51pm
Time to take my order 10 min later
Time to get water 10 minutes
Time to get drink 13 minutes
Time to get appetizer 2:06pm
Time to get bread and crab cake 2:08
I will return here but only for a special occasion.
I normally do not visit San Jose but I had the opportunity to be there this weekend. After looking for different options we decided to visit The grill, we did not do much of a research but we were happy to find this place. The service was great, everyone since we got there had a positive energy and a welcoming smile. The place was clean. The service was on point, the food for to us fast. And they kept checking on us while we were eating. Great place to stop by for sure. Like a said, I normally do not visit San Jose so I am not in touch with pricing but I have be honest and this is a nice place and price comes a long of how nice it is, not a bad thing but you should be aware of that. The menu had a lot more sea food than I anticipated but for some that could be a good thing. Besides that I would love to stop by and have another meal in this place. Thank you and I will see you around!
Service was excellent with all staff attentive. Ordered a blended cocktail topped with coffee that was very nice. Food was good, lamb chops cooked well with an excellent sauce, ribeye came out tender with good fat ratio cooked to a perfect medium as ordered, and sides were a good companion, au gratin potatoes were a little dry. Also ordered the dry aged New York Strip, flavor was good and cooked pretty close to a perfect medium as ordered but was surprisingly chewy. Both steaks paired well with the mushroom butter, upon next return we will order the ribeye again but will stay away from the New York Strip, dry aged or not.
Went for happy hour. Service was slow, however, (in their defense) they only had one server on and he was also tending bar. He had about 5 tables and made all the drinks. The happy hour prices were reasonable and cocktails were good. The calamari and oysters were also delicious!
4.75 stars Nice place. Good cocktails, bartender was willing to try something new and look up a recipe and give it a shot, turned out great. Would have given 5 stars for slightly more professional service, a little too casual...maybe that's the ambiance (we normally go to The Sea). Need to step up their beer game, more craft beers...plenty of local choices. We will be back.
Hands down best service, best staff and quality food! Seared diver scallops and ribeye were on point!! Not to mention the drinks! (Old fashioned and Moscow Mule!) will be coming back for Happy Hr!
wonderful experience with a wonderful staff. the food was amazing and never felt rushed. they were great about the birthday in my group and were super accommodating with a gluten free allergy.
I came here on a business trip with a friend due to it being one of the only places available for sit down that is open during the COIVD crisis. Our server was professional and you can expect a fine dining atmosphere. The food was delicious, prepared well, and they definitely care about the look with beautiful orientation and each plate wiped clean before being served. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is not budget conscious since it is on the pricer side.
Best NY steak on the planet. Of all the great cuts on the menu, the dry aged version with umami butter is the best. Nothing else quite like it. The seafood tower is great as well and a perfect appetizer for groups of four or more.
