This place was kind of a delicious surprise.
I passed by a couple of times and never thought to go in, it looks fancy but it’s actually nice and casual.
At first the menu is a little bit overwhelming. All of the items are fusion and if you’ve never been there before can be a little overwhelming, that’s remedied by some quick research and reading each item carefully. I’ve included a screenshot of the menu to help that along before you go.
At a new lunch spot I generally like to start with whatever their famous dish is. In this case, The original KoJa did it for me.
It’s a delicious mix of Korean short rib chopped lettuce wedged in between two disc shaped patties of rice. I must say the patties of rice or a little odd but fit the meal at least.
For a side dish I ordered the kamikaze fries which were awesome and worth every penny.
This is a great spot to take a risk and try for the first time. The food is delicious and neutral. Not too hot not too sweet not to, anything. Just perfect.
Love the concept. The KoJa’s, as they’re called, have crispy garlic rice as the bun and are filled with meat or mushroom and topped with various toppings. They also offer, and recommend pairing the KoJa with, waffle fries that are again loaded with meat and toppings.
I felt like the combination of KoJa and fries was way too much food. I saw that they also offer ice cream sandwiches that look amazing, and I would have much rather tried one of those than eat the contents of a KoJa on top of waffle fries. The KoJa (I had the original) was good and had great flavor combinations with the meat and toppings. My only complaint is that once the toppings are consumed, you’re left with a somewhat monotonous flavor profile for the remaining 3/4 of the KoJa.
Pretty tasty items. Braised pork was very tasty and well balanced. All the beef based items are too sweet for those of us that are used to traditional Asian foods. They’ll tell you that the dmz wings are super spicy, but they’re not that bad.
It was great as usual -- the spam musubi were great as was the original Koma burger. The fries with the truffle aioli were great.
We also tried the new chicken burger which was surprisingly tender and juicy. They use thigh meat as opposed to chicken breast which made the sandwich so juicy and tender.

Nice place to eat Asian food. Great quality , just a little on the expensive side , about $15 per person average with a fountain drink. You order food and pick it up in about 5-10 from the counter.

The wife had been to the Koja food truck back in the day at an Off The Grid event. I guess the owner has gotten popular enough to be able to open a brick and mortar location. This place is just down the street from my work. So when I told her about it she got excited and wanted to stop by as she had liked her experience with the truck.
She recommended the Short Rib Koja for me. So that's what we both ordered along with a chicken taco and an order of their Kamikaze fries to share. I asked the cashier if their chicken was breast meat. She went to the kitchen and asked one of the cooks if it was breast and he said "yes". Our order was ready in about 5 minutes. I went up to the counter to pick up the food, looked at the chicken taco and sure enough it looked like thigh meat. I asked the cook if it was breast and he again said, "yes". I figured that maybe the marinade made the meat look weird. So I took it to the table and looked at it a bit harder and was convinced that it was thigh.
I start to get up to bring the taco back and I see a manager looking guy peering in my direction. The cook must have talked to him about it because as soon as I walked up to him he apologized and said that the chicken was indeed thigh meat. So I got a beef taco instead. I don't know the manager's name but he was a cool looking Filipino guy with a septum piercing. I meant to thank him for helping us out with the food when we left but he wasn't around at that time.
As for the food, everything was very good. The short rib Koja was sweet and tasty. The rice "buns" were a bit strange. They are crispy and work well with the meat but they kinda have the texture of the burnt rice at the bottom of the rice cooker. The taco and fries were also good.
About the only bad thing I can say about the place is the prices. I think the prices are a bit high for what you get.
I love KoJa Kitchen. Everything here is delicious. I usually order the ahi tuna bowl. The ingredients are fresh. The tacos are awesome also. My son enjoyed his Chicken KoJo sandwich and Kamikaze fries. My husband devoured his chicken bowl.
Still flavorful and good but fries very cold..... not as busy as before, so you can eat comfortably now.....

If you've never been here, you really owe it to yourself to try this Korean Fusion restaurant.
My favorite items are the Korean BBQ beef Taco and the Miso Braised Pork Tacos. Equally enjoyable are the Korean Spicy Wings and the Umami Fries.
Today was part of their soft open, I believe. I ordered the original Koja "Burger", which is their short rib beef in between two rice patty buns. Delicious! I also ordered their Umami Fries, which were very good as well.
Don't think. Just go. Don't look back. Know you made the right decision.
The umami flavor. The richness. It doesnt get any better than koja kitchen.
Kamikaze fries are so gooooooddd!!! But the kojas themselves were just ok. Meat was good but the buns lack flavor and texture.
Great food and service! The atmosphere is great and KoJa Kitchen will not disappoint you!
It's amusing that people who come here lament that this place is expensive, but given that this foodie chain originated in San Francisco, Koja Kitchen is a relatively affordable affair--at least next to the artisan, organic, hand-crafted, etc. foods and wares of the city. This place delivers the same fabulous crispy rice burgers in a nice la, modern, polished setting, a welcome addition in a bright corner of a suburban plaza that houses a few other popular fast-ish food chains like Five Guys and Chipotle. I would pick Koja every time.
Not a college student, not their typical or target customer. Very clean . Very efficient. Expediter was clean and focused . Seating was spacious and tables were clean!
Beef bowl. Fast and delicious. Sleek & uncluttered dining environment is nice.
