Harbor Fish & Chips - San Jose - Photo album

I've come to Harbor Fish and Chips for years and years. Before, it used to be called H Salt Fish and Chips and was on the corner of Fruitdale and Meridian. They moved some time ago and the same family owned and operated it, until it got sold to a different family I think. The food is exactly the sam
We were craving some fish and chips, and there aren't many of these places left. Now this a mom and pop shop, and pop is in the back frying up the food. If your looking for fancy, this place is not it. The food was good, but the ice machine didn't work for our soda and the ketchup was watered down.
We ordered takeout for 10 pieces of fish and fries on the side. We asked for no salt on the food. My husband used malt vinegar on the food. Mike and Lynn gave us generous portions of fries.
Place recently changed owner but food was delicious. Happy to see management cleaned up the place nicely. Friendly service and welcoming atmosphere.
Ordered fish & chips combo and I enjoyed his special cocktail sauce with the hot and tasty fried fish, shrimp and fries. Portions are a bit small but at a fair price.
So good! I go here at least once a month. Walk in, order, 10 minutes later walk out with some amazing fried fish. I've also tried the shrimp and the onion rings...also good but I always go back to the fish. Staff is nice. Lots of parking in the strip mall lot.
Fish and fried zucchini, good for a little hole in the wall place. Mom (95) was snacking on hers on the car ride home 😉
This is the old H. Salt Fish and Chips from Meridian Avenue. They've been in business almost 20 years (as of this review in 2019)... Excellent food and we're always very satisfied! It's family owned and they are always very friendly and courteous.
My go to for fish and chips around here. Especially after I get off of work. Try to order ahead as they do get busy. Fish and fries are crispy and crunchy and best of all, it's not as oily as other places I have tried!
Okay, this review is complicated because I’m trying to be as objective as I can, but let me start by saying that even on a bad day, I prefer Harbor Fish & Chips to anyone else I have tried in the Bay Area, and therefore I give it 5 stars. That’s not to say the place is perfect but I’ll explain later
Fish and chips were great. Very hot and crispy. My girlfriend also enjoyed the calamari. The one piece 5.95 fish and chips is a pretty good deal if you're not super hungry. Will return in the future.
Try the combo. Gets you fish, shrimps, onion rings and chips. The shrimps are great. Even better with the cocktail sauce.
Really good fish and shrimp, fair chips good onion rings. BIG pieces of fish too. Hubby says best clam chowder he's had in a long time, even better than in SF! Been here twice in last couple of weeks and was good both times, might try the calamari for him next and the large chowder, he liked it so m
Tasty food. Good and quick service. If I had to nitpick, maybe a bigger food tray but would come back!
Last time we were there owner was talking to prospective buyer so they may be sold by now. Fish and chips always delicious
