More than enough food for one person, and really fresh tasting
I had Hawaiian BBQ before but first time at Ono. Generally, I had a good experience and I'm open to come back.
I got
- A plate of Hawaiian BBQ mix (which is a mix of beef, pork and chicken). It comes with rice & macaroni salad. It's pretty good. I like the flavors of all the meat. I like pork most, then chicken then beef. I like cabbage too but I wish it has less oil.
- A side of salad: I like the dressing that comes with the salad, helps balance the meal.
- Young coconut: decent. You can't use the plastic spoon to scoop out the meat but if you go home and use a silver spoon, you can. It looks thick but it's surprisingly not hard. It's probably still better if it's a little bit thinner though.
My friend got the plate with seafood mix which came with fried shrimps, fried white fish and chicken. I tried it and the plate I got was better.
Service was good. The receptionist was friendly and willing to answer all of my questions.
I love my # 2 the macaroni salad is so good and the chicken once you eat it you cant stop.
I loved this place. I’ve been in many Onos and always and they never let me down. I ordered chicken curry-Good size, taste, maybe too spicy but overall very good!
It was very good, between 3 1/2 to 4 stars. The portion was generous, I couldn't finish my plate. About $10 per order without drink.
wow I'm sad it took a pandemic for me to find this place.
the aloha plate comes with plenty of veggies which makes me feel a bit better about scarfing down sauced or fried breaded chicken. the veggies are also pretty good. some edamame bits in there and not too heavy on the dressing.
proteins are delicious too. love the katsu.
went today and my plate earned me a free smaller plate for some promo! (til may 02 2020 I think)
Say aloha to good staple food, island style. I had the grilled mahi mahi, which was fine, albeit a little on the dry side. It came with steamed rice and veggies, which were nice, and surprisingly a sort of macaroni salad. Hawaiian macaroni? Anyway, there are lots of other choices, and my friend said the barbeque chicken was good. He's from Oahu, so that's a good sign of Hawaiian authenticity. Order and pickup at a counter, and there's a small casual dining area inside. They apparently get a lot of take-out business, since even the dine-in orders are packed to go, which is handy for taking leftovers home. The prices are on the plus side for lunch, but fine for dinner. Portions are plentiful enough for two people with lean appetites to share.
I don't know if the fire BBQ has always had a ridiculous amount of seasoning, but I'm trying it one more time because I like spicy foods. I think the +3.99 for a drink and side is a little bit pricey. Easily a 15 dollar meal at that point. This place also needs that detailed cleaning. It definitely gets the once-over from the crew, but needs a deep cleaning. The fire chicken was better the second time as it had a reasonable amount of seasoning and more sauce

First time. Had the Island Fire Chicken and Chicken Katsu. Was yummy... exceeded my expectations.
Came here for lunch today. There was such a nice friendly young lady who took my order. I believe her name was Emily or something like that. She had such a great attitude, helped me decide what I wanted. I’ve nerve been here and she recommended musubi rolls and fire chicken. And it was just that, FIRE! Because of her kindness and friendliness I recommend this place 100 percent.
The aloha plate with chicken teriyaki and island fire chicken is pretty interesting - try it!
