I’m parked somewhat precariously at a 10-minute-only stall in front of a 7-Eleven near San Jose State University. Joe, the manager at Happy Dog next door, says it will take seven minutes to prepare my pork pineapple sausage. The good news, then, is my dog will be made to order.

The go-to place for hot dogs. Wide selection. Tasty. If you're bored and the owner is manning the boat, you can chat him up (but he'll leave you alone if you're not in the mood).

Woof! Dog Treats!. Ok, the Calabreze is to die for. Roasted on the grill, sprinkled with cheese. Served no a grilled french roll. Takes me back to the street food of Brazil.

The Red Hot Cajun dog is delicous too.

All the dogs are grilled. The service is the most laid back (but highly efficient) on the planet. "Whadda ya have, want cheese, what kinda chips?" He looks behind to see if it's on the grill. He looks under the counter for the chips. chances are, they won't have the kind you want because they buy these big boxes of assorted single serving packages at Costco, and everyone else snatched the good chips. But where else in San Jose can you get Ginger Ale? My companion likes the chili but suspects it isn't homemade.

Cheesecake dessert is locally famous. It's good enough, and I'm glad they're promoting the bakery, but I'm not impressed enough to have a piece on every visit.

Look at the funky tile walls while waiting, or drool over the cute college dudes who wander in from SJSU. Or step outside, a pleasant garden even though it is like eating on furniture made from old telephone cable reels.

Got the Kielbasa and Pineapple and it was good. Guy was really cool and the outdoor seating was nice. Wasn't busy on the Saturday night, but I can see that parking might get tight when people come through to go to the 7-Eleven next door.

You may have to drive a but to get here, but it is worth it. Choose from different sausages or ask for a recommendation.

Upon entering the store, my order was taken, and after a short wait was ready. Everything was perfectly grilled, drinks were cold, fries are crispy and hot. Enjoyed my meal on the patio with a soft breeze. Great spot for people watching, menu boards were updated recently.

Who would've thought a Vietnamese guy would serve such good hot dogs? Love the patio out back... Also, a decent beer selection is available. Does this place do live music? Awesome location.

Perfect place for a quick bite. Really helpful staff too. EDIT: If you could define scrumptious, it would be these hot dogs!! Perfect crispy french bread with sausage cooked to perfection. They have vegetarian options too!

This place ignited my love of hot dogs and hamburgers I had lost over the years as the fast food places keep needing to reinvent the wheel and making burgers only worse! Yesterday I tried some of their chili, and omg! It's A M A Z I N G!!! The chef is an artist! Admire him greatly :) ! You need to try it if you havenot been there! SJSU students!! Attention!!! Out panda/taco bell/Boulanger/and the other new place aside for a bit, and give this place a shot! You may be swayed!! I'm so glad to have discovered Happy Dog !! Cheers!!!

Best hot dogs and sausages in the Bay Area. Hands down. Limited parking. Definitely try their kielbasa and pineapple sausage!

Very good sausages on French bread. Garlic fries didn't have much garlic, but regular fries are fine.
