This place is theee best ramen parlor in the Bay hands down!!! The broth is what really stands out as the best IMO. Its light and flavorful unlike most other ramen establishments.
Noodles and various types of broth made me love this place. Thanks to my US collegues who introduced me to Santa Ramen. Stewed Belly Pork, extra Seaweed and extra kimchi with Sake was my regular order.
Unless you are a local, you will definitely need waze to get here. However, upon arrival, you will be happy to see many Japanese slurping away. The shoyu ramen, gyoza and chicken karaage are good options.
This ramen is unlike the ramen at other places. The soup is full of delicious, lip-smacking flavor. I recommend the pork flavor ramen (both white and black are amazing, yet very different from eachother, but my favorite is the white). Whichever you try (and love) first, you definitely need to try the other next. My taste buds are already salivating just thinking about the pork ramen at Santa Ramen! You HAVE to try it!
Best ramen I've had since Japan. I'll be making a point of going every time I'm in San Mateo.
The first time I ate in this ramen restaurant I totally fell in love.
Best Ramen in the Bay Area!. Santa Ramen is by far the best place for Ramen in the Bay Area. I live in San Francisco and I frequently go down to San Mateo just for the Ramen.
The place is pretty big and it is always crowded. For lunch they are only open a couple of hours between 11:30 to 1:30 and for dinner they open at 5:30. Get there early or you will be standing in line a while. Believe me there is always a line.
Unlike other places, Santa Ramen only serves Ramem. Yes only Ramen, nothing else which speaks volumes to the quality of their ramen. I don't know many restaurants that can do just one thing and be successful.
They have 3 basic choices which really is just your basic ramen dish and your choice of broth, but they have plenty of choices for additional toppings, and that is a beauty. You end up with a completely customized dish.
Hmmm. Getting hungry just writing about it.
Authentic Authentic Authentic Authentic Authentic Authentic Ramen Shop!
This place is packed full of Japanese speakers and local Sony employees!! The Shop is only open for as long as the broth will lasts. As it should be! Waits can be as longs as 45 minutes and seating is generally full by 11:15.
If your home sick for Japan a quick lunch at Santa's will bring you home again.
Yum! Santa Ramen in San Mateo, CA is my favorite ramen noodle restaurant. I just crave their ramen all the time. To be honest, I have gone to Santa Ramen 6 times in the past month. Their ramen is 10 times better than Iroha in San Francisco’s Japantown. Wh
I have been pestering DDR and P for literally years to go to Santa Ramen, and somehow JT finally coordinated an expedition for last Sunday. We agreed to meet there at 11:00am sharp (they open at 11:30). Mr. K and I got there early and I took the picture t
In A Nutshell:
-Santa Ramen has been around for a very long time.
-It was one of the very first Japanese ramen restaurants in the Bay Area before they exploded in popularity & now you find them all over the place (just like how sushi started out in the 80's, poke & boba in the 2000's, etc...)
-I am so glad that their timeless broth hasn't changed.
-$13.50 for a bowl isn't too crazy either especially in inflated 2022.
-They did have a soft shell crab version for under $20, which sounds interesting.
Overall, if you are looking for an authentic, belly quenching bowl of hot noodley ramen, you need to grab a seat here at Santa Ramen.
Ramen and Chicken Bento were delicious. This place is good for easy eats without the frou frou. At this time however, Santa Ramen has limited menu and may not have enough options for some. They do get busy but try to work fast to serve their customers. Good portion is decent to generous. Price is standard for San Mateo. Definitely worth going back to especially if you find their ramen flavors to your liking.
I ordered a Santa Ramen with Tokyo Tonkotsu (soy sauce base) and not spicy. It was good. I like how the spicy level is defaulted to not spicy if the level is not specified!
Most of the tables were filled on Saturday around noon.
I do find it odd that there are so many items crossed out on the menu. It felt like they could have been left out?
The Super Hawaiian is without a doubt the best pizza I've ever had and all I do is eat pizza. 10/10. I usually prefer blue cheese with my wings, but this ridiculously divine garlic ranch sauce they created just melts my brain.
Had the santa ramen with Tokyo tonkatsu mild spice. Great flavor but mushrooms were listed in the items yet not included. Still good.
Excellent Ramen and great service.
I had Miso and Tonkotsu based broth blend ramen.
Soup(broth) varieties are amazing!!!
Soy, Miso, and Pork(Tonkotsu) everything rich and flavorful, definitely you’ll find perfect match-ups fits to your needs, Also you can choose the spice level of your soup. Spice lover will love it.
Best ramen in San Mateo, maybe in the whole Bay Area. There’s always a line, so be prepared to wait a bit before getting to enjoy the goods. The space is intimate and the food is straightforward. They’ve introduced a few new items including some seafood based ramen, but the classic pork (medium spicy) is the clear winner for me.
In a city with dozens of ramen shop, Santa ramen is definitely among one of my favorite. Yes, there are better places, but I'm honestly not interested in waiting for an hr+ for ramen dojo or other places. Got here and was seated in under 5 minutes. My delicious bowl of ramen arrived in another 5. Finished my ramen and left the restaurant in less than 45 minutes, with enough time to go back to ramen dojo and be told that I still have another 15 minutes to wait. Lol... 😂 Don't get me wrong, I do like some of the other ramen places, but if I'm hungry, I will go to Santa ramen each and everytime.
