Outstanding seafood great service. If you want genuine New England seafood this place is for you. Fresh lobstah and king crab , absolutely delicious. We have eaten at almost every restaurant on the island over 40 years. Definitely coming back.
Best seafood restaurant on Sanibel or Captiva. Wonderful menu of fresh seafood, clams steamed or fried, clams stuffed, best lobster roll outside Maine, fresh lobster, shrimp, scallops. Family owned and family run. Great service . Great prices. Music on the week end.
The food at the Clam Shack was delicious. I had the clams in the lemon and wine sauce and they were divine, not to mention the bread. We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful day and the service was excellent. Highly recommend this tiny restaurant.
I can't say enough great things about this wonderful restaurant!! While visiting Sanibel, I was in search of some fresh live Maine Lobsters for pick up for my sisters 50th birthday dinner cook out at our rented condo. I reached out to the owner for some pricing and information and she was over the top friendly and nice. I then was put in touch with kitchen manager Steve and he worked to find us 2 of the freshest live lobsters and steamers. We dropped in for a beer to do our pick up and decided to have Steve steam our seafood dinner for us. The beer was cold, all the staff was friendly, and Steve cooked those lobsters to absolute perfection! Its not often in Florida where a chef can cook them just right. Steve and crew we thank you for our wonderful food and a fun night memory! My sisters birthday was a great day and our dinner was awesome! We will be back on our next trip to Sanibel next Spring! I can hardly wait!
Our son discovered The Clam Shack last year when we were vacationing on Sanibel. It was immediately one of his favorite restaurants. It quickly became one of our favorites as well. The food is amazing and the service is excellent. There are a lot of really good places to eat on Sanibel, but this place has moved to the very top of our list.
We love The Clam Shack! It's great having some seafood variety on the island to choose from. Everything we've tried has been delicious. Don't skip dessert!! The rhubarb pie is out of this world!
Friendly staff and delicious food! A must! Everything coming out of the kitchen looked fabulous. We had fried clams, the lobster roll, and crab stuffed �. You won't be disappointed!
We chose this resturant from good reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not dissapointed! I am from Cape Cod and was extremely pleased with the Ipswich clams and lobster roll. The oysters and clam strips were a hit also. Great atmostphere and very friendly staff. Wish they would expand to Jacksonville, Florida! Would highly recommend!
The service AND the food are fantastic! The homemade onion rings are the best we've ever had, and all of us loved everything we got for dinner. The Clam Shack is definitely on our favorites list!

Great food, excellent atmosphere. I am down visiting from Rhose Island with my fiancé so we stopped in for lunch. It was nice seeing a little touch of New England here on the island, from the fresh New England seafood to the New England sports memorabilia inside. Great place overall. We will be back to the shack!
Really nice folks around this place delicious food, great staff. Feature several excellent local musicians. Got to have the rhubarb pie with ice cream!

Food here is spectacular! Tried the lobster roll (it was good, but I enjoyed the other menu items even more) with homemade onion rings (wow!) My hubby had the combination plate with fried shrimp & fried oysters and that was AMAZING! BEST FRIED SHRIMP & OYSTERS in SWFL. The batter is so good, not greasy with the perfect flavor and crunch. Perfectly fried seafood. The coleslaw was incredible as well. They also bring out several delicious sauces. Really recommend this place for lunch or dinner. It’s a much more relaxed/ casual vibe inside. The service was great as well : )
We drove by this place a few times and needed to give it a try! We tried a 1/2 pint of the clam strips, clam chowder, middle neck clams (clam shack style), and fish and chips (which came out as one big fish and a bunch of fries). The clam strips were meaty and breaded well. Highly recommend these! The middle neck clams were also delicious. The accompanying garlic bread was super tasty. The clam chowder was good, but not as good as the chowder I had in Boston. The fish and chips were a good portion for the price. If you’re in the mood for New England style food, this is for you!
Some of the best new England clam chowder I've ever had, and the fried clam strips were amazing. They have 3 dipping sauces: tarter, cocktail, and a sauce that's kind of like a spicy 1000 island dressing or "yum yum sauce". Service was attentive, polite, and friendly, and the establishment was clean. Plus, ample parking even on a busy day. Worth all 5 stars!
As we biked along Periwinkle way, we stopped at this place to try out their food. We had the seafood special for two (which comes with two chowders but we upgraded one to lobster bisque), lobster rolls , and two kids meals (burger). They have good quality food . The chowder is not the best I’ve had but decent. The lobster bisque has chunks of lobster meats but not as flavorful as the one at The Island Cow. The seafood plate for two has some New England clams that I love! The fish that was in the plate was a bit dry and overcooked. The presentation was grand. Lobster roll was very good. I would probably do the lobster roll again if I visit this place again during our stay in Sanibel.
The clam shack is a very family friendly place. I did not think the clam strips were good because of the breading every one else liked it though . There famous Ipswich calms imported from Massachusetts were just as good as the ones in Ipswich. The fried oysters are juicy and fat. The portines were plenty. The sweet potato fries were to die for most definitely worth the extra dollar. They had very fast service.
After finding this place on Instagram, we decided to try it during our vacation. The staff was very friendly and really knew the menu well. The food was delicious. We could hear our clam strips being fried in the kitchen for our appetizer. My husband and I also shared a cup of the lobster bisque. It was delicious! Quite a few large pieces of lobster meat in it as well. We each had out own lobster roll and they were amazing. So much lobster meat that it was spilling out, but so light and delicious! I had onion rings and my husband had sweet potato fries with his meal. Both were so light and tasted great! We will definitely be visiting again.

Prices reasonable, food tasty, service fast and friendly. They even let us keep our car parked there while we checked out the excellent book store next door!
The food came out hot and fast. The whole lobster is really good and juicy. It was steaming hot and with butter. The fisherman's platter as seen in my photos was also very good. It's not really over breaded or suuuper greast which can be an issue sometimes. I've never had fried scallops before but they were pleasantly sweet and soft. Everything was perfectly cooked and had a lot of unique flavor.
The staff was nice and attentive.
There was live music out front when we were there and it was pleasant and the sound quality was surprisingly good.
If you order a glass of water be aware that its purified water and it tastes a little weird. Similar to well water almost? Not sure how to describe it- just be prepared.
Tried this place out after doing some shopping on the mainland. It was good, but boy was I regretting not getting the lobster roll. It looked amazing! We got the calamari, a burger, and the haddock sandwich. The burger was a mistake. It was overcooked and Mediocre at best! The Haddock sandwich was great though and the calamari was good too. It was a bummer they didn't serve liquor... beer and wine only.
Great place for seafood and drinks. Atmosphere was awesome and the server was informative and friendly. Definitely a Bostonian flare for those from up north.
Had live music our night there and kept with the flow of where we were.
Crab legs were pricy, but our seafood platter was about what you would expect. Food and drinks for 3 hit $$$. All in all a wonderful place to hit in Sanibel.

Went in to dine at a later hour, I was relieved to not be inside and have it overcrowded, the waitress was awesome, friendly and helpful..the food was delicious, I had fried shrimp and fries, not greasy and shrimp not over covered I'm flour....the big surprise was the fantastic clam chowder, I also tried the lobster bisque, it was good, with a touch of sweetness..the clam chowder salty and creamy..being from the barrier island's of NC I've had my share of seafood, so the Clam Shack has earned my patronage and I'd recommend to all to check it out, casual, family friendly, and with the gentleman playing on the guitar it was a nice atmosphere for dining ..(on top of the fact he played all my favorites) also, thanks for a clean and stocked bathroom ..as well as a reasonably priced, tasty meal..we'll be back..til then keep up the great meals..

In Sanibel for a baby shower and decided to get my nails done next door at Cape Nails when I stumbled on this lovely place. The service was outstanding, the chef's signature hot sauce is remarkable(try it in the clam chowder).. And the lobster roll is simple and absolutely delicious. If I'm ever in Sanibel again I will have to stop in.
Awesome clams with unbelievable garlic bread to die for! We also enjoyed lobster roll and scallops roll! They should include garlic bread with lobster meat on the menu!

The entire experience is about New England in Florida. The food is amazing. The service was outstanding. The atmosphere is unique. Astonishingly great lobster roll, clam strips, fresh onion rings, cole slaw. Not cheap but worth every penny.
Great seafood in an easy to find location on the heart of Sanibel. Lobster roll was perfect, fresh and packed with lobster meat. Kids meals were some of best we've seen, portions and quality.
