Overall, Woodies Café was pretty good. They were busy and we waited a long time to get our food and I thought it was strange to pay over $20 for a plate and eat with plastic forks. The view was gorgeous.

Went here on Memorial Day weekend looking for a place to have early dinner and a view of the ocean. Every other restaurant on the pier had a 1 hour wait so I walked into Woodies and saw many empty tables overlooking the ocean. Great food and cafe like atmosphere. Probably the best kept secret in Santa Cruz. Amazing margaritas, bread bowl with clam chowder, fish and chips, great for kids and adults.

We ordered fish&chips and clam strips, and got these plates. I could not immediately tell which one was fish. To this date, I still don't know what was inside those tiny pieces. At least the ocean view was nice.

I wanted to like this place. Reviews were great and I was hoping it would be. However, the service was very rigid. I forgot my mask in the car and didn't realize it was mandatory at this establishment. I kindly asked the clerk if he had one I could have. He said no. He was going to refuse me service but I told him I would eat outside of course. He let me order and I ate outside. Grateful for that but when another gentleman came in with the same scenario, he kindly gave him a mask. He had masks all along to hand out if need be. I don't know why I didn't fit the criteria. So I ate outside. Yes I forgot my mask, no I wasn't refusing to wear one. The boardwalk was far from my vehicle and a disposable mask would have helped. Anyway. I felt discriminated. So with that said, the food was good. The clam chowder was very good, however I found peices of paper in it. Yes paper. I took it out and decided not to complain. Thats on me. It had already been an odd experience. So off I went

Really???? Ordered a Bloody Mary and it should have come with a prawn. It came out without one so we asked about it. Server asked if we wanted it, of course we said yes, so they brought it out in his hand. Seriously. Just holding it in his hand.
The food was not that great. Hamburger was not flavorful at all.
My wife found two hairs in her salad.
Glad I'm from out of town would recommend or come back here.

Woodies is the perfect venue for those who are looking for a easy-going lunch/dinner spot with some beautiful sea view.
Disclaimer: They don't cater food on the table as this is a place with casual boardwalk food, friendly staff, and a beautiful view.
Worth giving them a try!

Woodies Cafe on the Wharf was at its absolute best yesterday. Their Half Bake Crab Sandwich with Clam Chowder was “Out of this World!” My husband had the Cesar Salad which was superb. The presentation was …….well you can see for yourself. If you are looking for a family favorite, Woodies Cafe has the ‘best tasting,’ affordable menu, on the wharf, not to forget the gorgeous scenery of the ocean, while you dine!
On top of everything, we were fortunate to meet the manager Lance, who gave our group a warm welcome, making our day completely perfect. Thank You Lance! I’m bringing the whole family back for my Birthday on August 3.

Cozy looking diner located on the Santa Cruz Wharf with an awesome view of the Monterey Bay / Pacific Ocean. The food was not bad, but too much deep fried food does get a little nauseating. Still a good place to grab a quick bite. I had the seafood combo (basically calamari, jumbo prawns, and a fish fillet, all dipped in the same batter and deep fried), and he had the crab cake burger, both dishes come with a huge amount of fries.

Woodies Chowder doesn't disappoint. My 5 year old dips his french fries in it. The fried Prawns are my favorite in the seafood combo plate. Large prawn with a yummy sesame seed batter. My Mom always gets Prawn Cesar salad, she can't bring herself to try something else. Yesterday the service was a bit off for lunch though. The 2 girls working complaining as they cleaned tables and ran food from the kitchen of Firefly nextdoor, with the one girls shirt hiked up with her belly out wasn't too cute. Food great but they forgot my slaw on my plate- my favorite. But I'll be back because we love Woody's!

The burgers look impressive (a monstrous 4-5 inches in diameter), so we split it, but it was the most tasteless meal my husband and I ever had. It was a "Hawaiian" burger. The meat had no flavor, and the teriyaki was barely there. We hoped the teriyaki would save us from how dry the meat was, but that was completely futile. Oh, and the pineapple was flat and completely dry. The kids' dishes as well as ours came with an inordinate amount of French fries. (Tip to manager: spend less on French fries and more on flavor. PLEASE!) We HATE wasting food, but there was noooo way we could manage. We didn't eat even a third of all the fries we were served between our family of 4, and my husband and I had horrible stomach aches all night from the strangeness of the burger. The small cup of clam chowder was decent. All potato though. The employees looked like they were all young and had good intentions, but the service was disorganized and no one seemed to know what to do (i.e., they ran out of the bread they usually use for the kids' grilled cheese sandwich and the girl was truly frantic when she came to our table a full 20 mins after we ordered bc they couldn't decide what bread to use). Like I said, she had good intentions. But after all that, it's definitely in a "Never again" category for us. We regretted not just finding a fast food place instead. Odd, ODD experience.

Possibly the best clam chowder ever, perfect balance of clams, bacon, potatoes and creaminess. TY Woodies. Oh and the fish and chips were actually better than a well known fish joint down the road a ways.

The food is amazing!!!!! Beer is a good price, overall great place! The view is very nice as well! Clam chowder bowl is awesome, as well as the fish and chips!!!!

Worst 13 dollar burger I have ever had. California burger cooked ten mins past well done and bacon reminiscent of dry jerky.

My family and I love eating here. They have great food for a really good price. My family of 5 always eats for less than $60, and it's more than we could eat. Plenty of window seats with a view of the ocean. But the best part of it all is the staff! The friendliest, most welcoming place ever. The manager is amazing.. he always welcomes us, checks on the status of our order during the dinner rush, stops by to make sure we have everything we need and are satisfied with the food. This is our go to spot when we are in the area.

Its a nice view, clam chowder bowel could have been hotter,
Luke warm chowder,
slight hair in the calamari and fries.
They were having an off day this Friday.
Previous time was better.

The staff couldn't be more rude at the Café, but the food made up for it. The gift shop attached gets 10 out of 5 stars though. The clerk was amazingly helpful and great with my busy 3-year-old grandson! The prices were surprisingly low for a tourist area, and the products were quality.

Excellent food. Friendly and helpful staff. The view was awesome! It was my second time there and already can't wait to go back!
