I love this place — favorite breakfast spot. Friendly service, delicious food, quality ingredients, cozy-chic ambiance — playlists and decor always on point! Hands down the BEST avocado toast in town, they really don’t skimp on the avocado!! Such a nice hot sauce lineup. I’m in love with the creamy habanero.
Breakfast burritos are huge, super filling. Prices are legit, baristas killin it, haven’t tried their Taco Tuesday yet but it looks good. So happy they do a turmeric latte! Wishing for matcha someday...
Tucked back in the Tannery, this is such a nice place to get a calm cup of coffee and do a little writing, grab breakfast after a workout - bathrooms need a code which always changes so be sure to check.
Rotating art displays from local artists, lovely and inspiring. Plenty of parking out back (take the back entrance to the parking lot, not the first one driving up River St). So chill. One of my happy places in town. 😊

If you know my reviews, then you know I don't give out 5 stars very often. I'm not sure this place really deserves a full 5 stars, but it's the most enjoyable place I've been to since I arrived three months ago.
Free ice water on tap. Clean. Good mocha. And great service this morning! The breakfast burrito was made well, just not the recipe I was hoping for. The cashier went out of his way to bring me 3 salsas, silverware, and cloth napkin. All things I could have done just fine on my own, but he went the extra mile and did so in a very unimposing way.
I'll be back with friends.

Arrived at posted opening time, and had to wait for staff to finish their opening procedure. Asked if croissant was fresh, and was informed that they just arrived. 10 minutes later and $6 less, I had a day-old croissant and small coffee. Decor is cute and clean, and staff were friendly.

Good coffee, great vibe. Wait staff seems always eager to please. The baguette sandwiches can be a steal if you're not on a low-carb diet. Not much in the way of salads. Free wifi, plugs and both indoor and outdoor seating.

Sorry to say that the bahn mi chicken sandwich I ordered was a complete miss. Served on a dry (stale, even) sourdough (!) bagette, with limp vegetables that tasted more of sourkraut that the sweet, spicey flavors I expected. Overall very dry and unpleasant, without a hint of mayonnaise or Sriracha sauce anywhere about the thing. Hopefully, this was just an off day.

Delicious food made from quality ingredients. polite and helpful staff. Made fresh to order, so a bit of a wait, but well worth it. Planning our next visit!

Holy cow that's some good cake!!
Had the chocolate mousse cake, and it's outrageously good -- light, not too sweet, and 100% tasty. Kids had red velvet cookies.
Also recommend the flatbread - caprese was brimming with pesto flavour.
The owner is friendly and helpful, and came to our table to chat.
Would frequent again.

Splendid. The owners are delightful, the food is delicious, everything is affordable, cozy and quirky space, vegan and meat eater friendly, and located in the center of the Tannery Arts Center. Go here.

Chef JP and Chef Shannon are fantastic. A great new addition to Santa Cruz - and an easy pre-drive back to the Valley place too.

Every time they participate in an event at the Tannery. At the last one JP and Shannon served rice, black olives and potato salad. The fried chicken and fried mushrooms topped it off. Very tasty!

JP is, quite frankly, one of the greatest chefs in SC. I am so thrilled to get to be a part of this new culinary endeavor and to make the charming Dead Cow one of my number one constant haunts! Amazing, amazing, amazing!
