When I go on vacation, I have a rule for myself to never eat at the same place twice, and that's simply because I love trying new places and I want to experience the breadth of cuisine an area has to offer. This gelato shop caused me to break my rule. The gelato here is some of the best I've ever had, and easily the best dessert I've had during my trip to Los Angeles. The wide selection is flawlessly rich and the flavors are bold and dynamic. The fig and ricotta, which I got twice, is their flagship and one taste will demonstrate why. Lastly, price is incredibly reasonable compared to most anywhere else and the amount you get is generous. If you are even the slightest fan of gelato/ice cream, you need to come here to experience perfection.

Ice cream is so nice and the crispy waffles cone and very rich chocolate and delicious strawberry flavor. The attached picture is having some bite already. I would come again for another one if I visit Santa Monica in the future.

Very good gelato with outrageously large portions at $7.50 for 3 scoops (about a pint). Loads of public parking about 200 ft away for $1.25. They have about 20 options with 4 vegan, allow sampling and have ample outdoor seating. They have also won multiple awards for being the best frozen dessert shop and most loved small business in Santa Monica, and I can see why they got it :). Of the ones we had, my favorites were the dark chocolate sorbet, ricotta & fig and wild berry.

Delicious gelato! I love and always order the ricotta fig with salted caramel. Excellent large portions for the price. On the Third St Promenade you will pay the same price for a teeny tiny scoop. My favorite treat in Santa Monica!

My friend and I stumbled on this place accidentally and now it's become a staple for whenever we visit Venice Beach. The friendly staff, decadent gelato, and chic vibes makes it the perfect place to meet up with friends. I love that they have vegan options as well.

Grate find, great discovery parking can be a bit challenging. The flavors are varied and taste like they're made in Italy.

Very good, authentic-tasting Gelato! I lived in Italy for years, and Gelato was very popular in my household. Dolcenaro's Gelato tasted very similar to the Italian-made treat that we loved and miss.

Very good gelato bar, the sizes are very big if you get the cone and the flavours are present and delicious. Parking is free nearby (a 2 minute walk) and anybody can stop by for a quick ice cream. The staff were also very kind.

Delicious gelato that reminds me of my favorite gelateria in Milan. The mixed berry is like a classic Italian Fruti di Bosco, and the ricotta and fig is quite remarkable with delicious bits of fig. Those two flavors went really well with the chocolate. And the guy who scooped it was really nice and made sure we got pieces of dark chocolate drizzle, too. The servings are generous- my husband and I split a medium and had plenty to enjoy!

My wife and I just returned from 3 weeks in Italy on the 21 of November, and we started craving our gelato fix after only 10 days home. We looked online today (Dec 2) and found a place only 4 minutes walk from home. Of course, having just returned from the old country, I was a bit skeptical of finding anything like ice cream in the U.S. that isn't loaded with hfcs and lists of unpronouncable ingredients that leave you expecting crash out from the insulin spike. Not so here. This place gets all of its ingredients from Italy. If you understand nutrition, and if you've lived outside of the U.S., you'll know the difference in the foods and why diabetes mellitus is so rampant (in the United States) and why liposuction is such a big deal here as well - but not so much in Europe. Anyway, back to the gelato shop. Dolcenero Gelato is like being back in Italy, including the Italian owner who works this place: great work ethic, with excellent customer service and delicious product. No corn syrup. No fructose (which fools the body into thinking it's hungry). If you want a light snack that feels heavy, hit this spot. I guarantee that you'll be satisfied.

Gelato was very good! Employees did not have much emotions and were very numb-like. Its probably because we came at 10 and they just wanna go home and rest! But overall, very good!
