Family-owned, charming Japanese restaurant with lunch specials in Santa Monica. Came here for lunch with a friend on Friday at 11:30am and we’re the first people there. The waitress was super friendly and checked in frequently to make sure we were taken care of. There are lunch specials where you can get miso soup, an appetizer, and an entree for about $16-17. I got the deep fried dumplings (gyoza) (4 pieces) and the Hulk burrito which had salmon, crab, spicy tuna, and a nice katsu type sauce on the side. My friend got the avocado roll (which added another $1) and the sesame chicken. The gyoza was on the smaller side and very well done and the sesame chicken came in 6 pieces and came with a soy sauce based sauce. We also split an order of edamame ($5) which is your standard edamame. The hulk burrito was a smaller size than I was expecting but it was still filling. I really liked the sauce it came with. They do take credit cards but there’s a minimum amount (I believe it’s around $15) and maximum 3 credit cards per table. It’s all indoor seating and primarily street parking. They also do delivery. Overall a cozy spot with friendly service and further from the hustle and bustle of third street promenade.

The Sashimi was fresh and tasty! The service was great! Would be a 5-Star except for the price. Easily 30% more than I expected.

This is a great spot in downtown Santa Monica to pick up a reasonably priced sushi meal with all the various menu items you would expect. I particularly like the specials that they have on the board and had a very enjoyable experience with a fatty tuna sushi and fatty tuna hand rolls. This is a very laid-back atmosphere, with sports games playing on the televisions but said to mute. The staff is friendly and attentive. The turnaround time was surprisingly fast every time that I go there. I'm thankful this place exists particularly at the end of a work day, such a luxury to have a nice meal with some white rice and hot tea. Definitely worth checking out.

5 star for value. 4 star on food. 3 star on vibe. The food was plentiful and good enough but not outstanding. BUT it was a terrific value at $11.95 for a lunch special. My husband and son liked their rolls very much. My spicy tuna was fine but not fab. They were not especially nice or welcoming. Kind of sad clown. We will not return.

Great fresh sushi. Walked in and ordered 3 rolls to go and they were ready in about 5 minutes. Atmosphere feels like where a local eats. The sauces over the rolls was unique and full of flavor.

This sushi place was amazing! The service was fast and everyone was so kind. Our sushi was noticeably fresh and delicious. Wait was not long at all!! I highly recommend this place to anyone. The prices are reasonable. Close second to sugar fish in my opinion.

This place was a small but quaint. We tried a bunch of things on the menu and every one of them was amazing! It was also great that we were the only patrons in the restaurant so it was very quiet. The service was superb, the whole experience was amazing. I definitely recommend this establishment.

The food is really good for the price. It was a nice sit-down place with lots of options for people who love sushi and also for those who don't. The alternatives include rice and chicken. They serve excellent fresh seafood on top of their sushi if you prefer to eat sushi.

Happy Hour 5p.m to 7p.m prices are reasonable and choices that please the pallet. Tempura sampler is just RIGHT. Limited parking at rear of building. Big blue bus route 5 stops nearby.

I would definitely consider this place a hidden jewel. Eventhough it's located in Santa Monica and faces the blue line tracks, it's not on a major street when you consider Santa Monica Blvd being just a few blocks up the way. The food was very good! I initially ordered the vegetable roll, but by the time I was down to only 2 pieces left, I requested another order 😋😋 And the entire menu was reasonable with a good happy hour too. This place has a cool vibe and ambiance. The iPad played all the Top 40 hits (Cardi B, Drake, Shawn Mendez, Dua Lipa, etc. ) so you felt super good while you were eatinv.

Ninjin is primarily a sushi restaurant that serves up Japanese and Korean dishes alongside the Expo Line. It is close to the Santa Monica Pier and the customer service is friendly. I've been to Ninjin several times for lunch with colleagues, however, the price of the lunch special recently increased to $13.95 and I ordered the Dragon Roll, which added a $4 surcharge. This is fairly high for lunch in the neighborhood. What I ordered: 1. Miso Soup - small amount of tofu, but hot 2. Steamed gyoza - fantastic, fresh, hot 3. The Dragon Roll - amazing presentation, but okay on taste. The eel was tasty, however, the roll was mostly packed with "imitation krab" meat. My bill for the lunch special and a water came to $24 including tax and tip.

Great price for lunch sushi. Walked here a few times for lunch, above average sushi for a below average price. Service is quick, never experienced a wait, but it's quite small, so it could easily be crowded.
