Review Bayou Bill's Crab House - Santa Rosa Beach

Marcus Clayborne
A great place!! We all had a great time and the food was very good. I had the stuffed shrimp and crab legs. We were sat quickly (especially with the amount of people in out party 12) and the waitress really took care of us. We have eaten at other locations on different visits and this is about ad good as you would hope for. Give it a try!!

I had a great first experience at Bayou Bill's. My family ordered a variety of appetizers plus Alaskan crab and peel and eat shrimp. Everything was delicious, but my personal favorites were the crab legs and the blue crab dip.

Great food and great service! We all loved the crab cakes! Fried shrimp and grilled shrimp were delicious as well. Full bar, too! We enjoyed the lemon drops!

We had fried alligator and onion rings for an appetizer. Main meal was blackened mahi mahi with french fries and green beans. Main meal blackened yellow fin tuna with french fries and green beans. Dinner was delicious - price was under $100. 😎 thumbs up!

Our family of 5 shared 1.5 pds of Dungeness crab, 4 pds of Alaskan crab legs, full rack of pork ribs and a dinner salad. Everything was excellent!! The service was great and the drinks cold and good. We’ll be back the next time we are in Seaside, FL.

We started off with the Alligator Bites and Paradise Shrimp both were good. 10. My wife had a fried shrimp and crab cakes and I had the fried shrimp and oyster dinner with a soft shell crab. We love them both! The service is great and will be coming back again.

The food was delicious. The portions are big and the pricing is right. I will definitely be back with the family.

The food is always great. My favorite tge chargrilled Oysters.

Dinner here was amazing. Our waitress was friendly and helpful with the menu wich is kind of large. Food was delicious and would definitely recommend stopping here.

Me and my party of 4 walked in at 5pm and were immediately seated. Amanda was our server and she was EXCELLENT! From her table manners to the food recommendations she was on it! The daily special of Grilled Snapper and Shrimp was by far the best grilled snapper I’ve ever had. And to top it off Amanda even hooked our group up with a delicious, fluffy, airy key lime pie!

Great seafood. We eat here every time we are in the area. Have been coming here for over 15 yrs and will continue to always come back. Beats all other restaurants.

Our last trip in ever to this tourist spot was the day the "chef" sent the message back from the kitchen after we chewed through a bucket of sand laden clams that "clams live in sand".

For the $$ they charged you would expect just a bit more than that. We actually got a good laugh and have never darkened their door since then.....about 10 years now. Too many other places who overcharge for mediocre to stellar food.

We've eaten here about a half dozen times over the past few years, and the food has always been consistent, including our visit this week. The portions are huge so my husband and I shared a platter. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. It's touristy but hey this is a touristy place! We'll be back, and that's the best you can say about a restaurant.

You can find Bayou Bill's Crab House at 4748 US Hwy 98 W, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459 - Highway 98 is along one of the main drags that travels East-West and bisects the high-ground between Hogtown Bayou and the Gulf. If you continue west you'll hit Mirimar Beach and then Destin. If you travel east you'll hit the access to Grayton Beach and Seaside. The building is single-story, free standing and looks a bit like a house, with a short front-porch. Parking is in the lot in front and it looked to have plenty to support the larger-than appearing seating capacity.

Crab dip is wonderful. Fries are so crispy and good. Ribs are excellent and shrimp were cooked very well. Will return when I come to vacation again

This is one of my Dads favorite spots to dine at when he comes to visit me. Menu is that of the typical tourist seafood places. Food is consistent and service is usually good.
Minidonkeymom
Softshell Crab. Very disappointed! On line menu had soft shell crab. Called to confirm that they were serving soft shell crab and was told "Of course". But when we arrived for dinner we were told no soft shell crab - not even on the menu at the restaurant.

Portions good but food is about expected at tourist restaurant. Marginal at best.

Service was excellent, glasses refilled prior to being half empty. Food was above average. Price was average for seafood in this area. Serving size was average to above average.

Char-grilled oysters were phenomenal and crab was fantastic. Nice, clean place. Short wait and the staff was very friendly. Best place I have eaten at while visiting the area. Prices are fair.

Good food & good service. The food was some of the best we've had in the area. Very short wait and our waiter was very accommodating. We have a vegetarian in our family and they accommodated him as well. Food was hot when it got to the table and everyone loved their choice. Would recommend to anyone.

I usually don't write reviews but I felt compelled to warn anyone from eating here. Frozen overpriced seafood - blah. Also, how can you mess up BOILED shrimp? Keep driving. Grab a Big Mac and feel better about that decision.

We've always loved it. We're semi-local and eat at Bayou Bill's 2 or 3 times a year. We've always enjoyed the food, and our last visit was no different. My wife and daughter shared a steamed bucket of crabs, oysters, shrimp, clams, and mussels (with corn, potatoes, and sausage) and really enjoyed it. I got my favorite - the stuffed grouper. It was outstanding as well. The restaurant itself is a cool place to visit - be sure to check out the bar area made out of coral limestone. Dinner is not cheap, but we felt like our meals were worth the money.

Very disappointing. Frozen, fried and OVERLY priced.

Stuffed grouper. Don't believe the negative reviews...part time local here. They have, so far, the best seafood I have had in Destin area. Large portions...Baked stuff grouper is to die for.

This restaurant is obviously centered on tourists. They seem to think that since you're a tourist, you will be willing to pay a lot for food. Their menu was very pricey, and the food was not good. The fried shrimp was very greasy, so greasy that it was turning to mush on the plate. The rest of the food was the same way. Also, our waiter was not very good. He took forever, and he kept trying to get us to order things we didn't want, much like that annoying, used-car salesman figure. Our food was nothing special, and they charged us a fortune for it. Overall, I was not pleased.

Good. It was solid vacation food. The bisque is what made the meal worth it! The service was great!

I make a trip here every vacation just for the blackened yellowfin tuna, very tasty. Not a fancy place but typical nice Florida seafood restaurant. I'll keep coming back

This was my favorite place before I became allergic to shellfish. The crab is great. Now, they have been kind enough two years in a row to help me choose a delicious seafood platter that is shellfish free. I like it even better. Love the stuffed swamp monkey head sitting on the front table :)

Good But Pricey. We had a local recommend this place to us. So I was curious to see how well the food would taste. As far as seafood goes, it was pretty good but I don't know if it was worth the hefty price at the end of the night. The big portions did make it easy to share. It's a little outside of the Destin area. Being 100% honest, I think I liked getting Donut Hole on the way home a little better and it was cheaper.

Not Bad. Nothing inspiring or great, but our family had a pleasant meal here. One of our group had the fried shrimp platter and was pleased with it. Another had the fried soft shell crab and oyster combo and was generally pleased with that dish. The service was good, if not charming. Overall, an OK experience. B-

Awesome place for snow crab! Our waitress was really nice and very prompt. My friends and I shared the crab dinner for two ($69) between the 4 of us and it was AMAZING. Fabulous crab. Also: the crab dip is delicious as well. Anyone who writes a bad review for this place is just snooty and expects candle light and harps playing. Great for great times with friends and family!
Scott Vidrine
Horrible food horrible service. Not worth the short drive. Snooty from the moment we were seated. Be aware that the servers add the tip to the ticket and will NOT tell you and get nasty when you catch on to their little trick. Will defiantly never eat or recommend this place anybody local or tourist.
Stephen Roberts
Best place in Destin area hands down! Any negative review about this place is from people that can't be made happy! A must eat, we will be returning! Ask for Maryanna!!!
Saintseester
Soggy, mushy fried shrimp. Also, for an $18.00 entree served with fries, it's off-putting when the menu insists on NO substitutions. Really?
Mike Johnson
Great Job. The service was incredible but the crab was even better! Can't wait to come back to Santa Rosa Beach.

Me and my family's experience was excellent. We went to bayou bills at early dinner time. The atmosphere was friendly and not loud. I'd recommend the crab corn chowder as well as the crab claws. My family and I had blackened grouper, 1 lb snow crab legs, fish and grits, and a grouper and vegetable special. By far the blackened grouper was the best out of all of our entrees. The 1lb snow crab legs were delicious and full of crab meat. The grouper special and fish and grits were good, too. Overall I'd recommend his Restraunt.

Server was very attentive and gave advice on selections. My wife got the blue crab, which was the first time she had ever had it. The crab were very small and were more trouble than they were really worth. Maybe just the type of crab... not the rest. Fault. I got the Orleans Grouped. It had okay flavor, but was overpriced for serving size. My Dad got the special of the house and loved it. Overall, the experience was okay, but I just walked away feeling like I overpaid. Kind of typical touristy type place to eat.

Bayou Bill's Worth a Visit. Having eaten she-crab soup at numerous fabulous restaurants in the Charleston, South Carolina area, I ordered the crab and corn bisque with high hopes and the soup surpassed my highest expectations. I should have made a meal on this appetizer along with some of the best hot crab dip and chips i have encountered (which is an appetizer I order quite frequently). I had the fried fish platter and found the fish and clam strips better than average, the shrimp were average, and the crab cakes a complete disappointment. I don' t like oysters, so no big surprise that I found the fried oysters barely edible. Side dishes were better than average with an excellent double-baked potato and super sweet corn on the cob.

We had a party of nine adults and two children. We were seated right away and had excellent service: well-worth the 18% automatically added to the bill for a party of 6 or more. The lazy-susan in the middle of the large round table was very handy in passing salt, pepper, sour cream, and sharing of appetizers with others.
Jim
Nothing Special. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is relatively quiet for a touristy place.

The food is nothing special, in fact it is rather bland, even the Cajun grouper. We wanted to substitute something on one entree for oysters. Sorry NO substitutions. They left the oysters off and sold them to someone else no doubt.

No repeat business here.

The food, hospitality, & environment were great. The prices were average. I was visiting from Louisiana where I am a above average seafood eater. Loved my experience at Bayou Bill's Crab House.

Not bad. I'd stick with the crab though.
GuyJS
Fast service. Food was average and seemed over priced.

Nice staff. Terrible food. Wasn't fresh at all. Avoid this place unless you like microwave seafood.
Brianne Belzer Mosley
Awesome cajun grouper- hot dang, that's good!!
Lisa Guest
Very dissappointing, read reviews here and gave it a try. The Stuffed Grouper was inedible, incredibly fishy and the parmesan sauce was like glue. The service was pleasant and prompt but for a $100 bucks we left hungry.

New building after fire destroyed first building. Food is still as good as ever.
Women Who Doesn't Cook
Nothing special. Alot of fried fish - nothing out of the ordinary.
Creddick
Tuna. Still the best grilled tuna I have ever had. Large portion and done just the way you ask for it. I like it medium and just grilled - not blackened, which is also excellent.
Jeff P.
Great food, served up by friendly staff without all the pretense. This is a great family place, yet grown ups will NOT feel like they are at a chucky cheese. If you love crab, they serve great portions of steamed snow crab.
Robyn
Wonderful!!!!!! Great food and Great service!!!! Best food we had while in Destin! Drinks and Crab legs are VERY tasty!
