A very special night out and our dinner at La Gare was the high point. Excellent service! The meal was perfect in all ways. If you are looking for a special night and a dinner you will remember, I highly recommend La Gare.

We dine at La Gare's at least 4 times a year. The food is wonderful and the servers are professional. A friend wanted to eat at another local restaurant which was loud and shoulder to shoulder people. I wondered why we weren't at La Gare's, where the food is better, same cost, and I can enjoy the conversation. I highly recommend La Gare's.

We celebrated my 47th birthday on Thursday night. OMG this tiny special restaurant makes one feel like they are dining in the chef's personal home. Roger and his crew make the most amazing escargot, crab cake, potato leek soup, and best salad in town with the most amazing dressing, ever. I should always buy a container because it is that good. My dad had the filet which he said was amazing. My mom had the beef wellington which she said was cooked to perfection. She was impressed with the size of it. It looked amazing, next time. My nephew and I shared the Chateaubriand Bouquetiere for two, cooked medium rare. We should have gotten it medium. The sides with all the dishes are fabulous, the fried potatoes are to die for. The green beans are crisp to the tooth, which I love. The béarnaise sauce, excellent. The table side craving always makes one feel special. We were greeted by a smiling Jackie who has done front of house for years, she knows her customers and she knows her job well. She is willing to help turn a table for the next customers. The wait staff are always on point. We did however have to ask for ice three times but we got it. I love going to this place because of how much quality food you get at a good price. I enjoyed everything about La Gare. We always know when walking in dinner and dining there will be fabulous, fun, special, and well amazing. Jackie and Roger thank you for making my 47th birthday so amazing!

Cosy and welcoming restaurant. The staff were very attentive and polite. The food was fantastic and served at an efficient pace. The entrees include soup and salad. It’s great for a date night or more formal dinner. Street parking but also walkable from the hotels downtown

Fantastic food and fair prices. Honestly we avoided La Gare when we come to town because we assumed we wouldn't be able to get in and since it is a French Restaurant it would be high dollar so we waited for a special occasion. Now we will make sure we stop in every time we are in town! Great wine selection with a low mark up and the dessert was to die for. We had the Veal and Lamb and almost ate the plates! Soup was on point but next time we need to try the French onion soup.

Our waitress was very nice and took very good care of us. Hearing it was our first time there, she was great at making sure she explained everything to us without making us feel dumb lol. The food was amazing. we tried the escargot and frog legs for apatizers, and both were very flavorful and cooked perfectly. Then we got the Ceasar salad for two made at our table, definitely one of the best Ceasar salads I've had, the photo and leak soup was very good as well, came out at the perfect temperature and didn't need anything else maybe a tiny bit of salt. Then, for our main, I got the Beef wellington, and my girlfriend got the rack of lamb. Both of them were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great French experience. The apatizers, the 3 course meal with 2 glasses of wine and 2 glasses or cider, came out to $207 before tip, which is what I would expect at such a restaurant.

Atmosphere was very quaint. Not a lot of room to maneuver to your table or if one was to & fro to the restroom. For my Hors D'oeuvres I had the Escargots de Bourgogne and the Cuisse de Grenouilles in bordelaise. The snails were perfectly cooked still tucked away in their shells. The flavor was authentic enough. The frog legs were flavorful as well even though they may have been a bit to soggy for taste. For my Entree I ordered Carre d' Agneau Persille. The lamb meat was cooked to perfection but the flavor was a bit overwhelming, as if too much vinegar or something was used, the little sauce next to it made it a little more tolerable. For the price the portions went away to quickly. I actually wanted more but I was fulfilled. I can't remember the wine I paired it with though, it made all the difference with the lamb. I also can't remember the soup, I don't think I liked it to much. Service was excellent.

Was treated to a very intimate and romantic trip to France at this special restaurant. We choose to sit outside and it was fairly quiet with soft background music and outdoor heaters. The service was attentive and timely. We ordered the escargot, which was exactly as we remember them in Paris bistros. Each main came with soup de hour and salad. The leek soup was very good and the upgraded pinion soup was perfect. The orange duck was delicious as was the halibut special with small shrimp burre blanc sauce. Definitely a special place.

Had a fantastic 60th birthday dinner last night. Everything was perfect. Best rack of lamb I've ever had, and I've had a lot. Had a beautiful bottle of wine with dinner that I regret not writing down the name of. Service was above and beyond.

This is truly a special place. The food is a class of it‘s own. The cesar salad will be prepared right by the table and it was the best I ever had. The chatauxbriand is outstanding. Unbelievable meat quality and preparation, 10 out of 10. Definitely! But what is really remarkable, it’s a place where you feel your self welcome. I’m visiting from Germany and I have never experienced a place like this. As I came back on my second day in town it was already like coming home. Thanks Jackie and John.

Had a wonderful meal. A lovely place for a lovely rustic French meal. No pretentious, ultra fancy, shirt and tie kind of place. This place is like dining with friends. Staff was very pleasant and the food was phenomenal. Linda was our server for the evening and she couldn't have been any nicer - an absolutely gem.

The food was delicious. My husband ordered Le coq au vin forestiere. (Chicken with bacon and mushrooms in wine sauce.) He enjoyed it immensely. I ordered one of the specials— salmon with rice and seasonal vegetables. Upon request, they were able to prepare it for me with absolutely no flour an no added sugar of any kind. They made a small change in the vegetables provided to accommodate this request. Entrées included a small bowl of soup and a green salad. The soup of the day (cream of mushroom) contained flour, so I was given tomato bisque soup. The moderately sized green salad was very freshly harvested butter lettuce, and was served with a wedge of tomato and a few matchstick carrots. Along with the meal, my husband had a can of hard apple cider. When all was said and done, we spent approximately $100, including the tip.

Cozy relaxing stop in Santa Rosa. No bar. Beer & wine only. The menu items we chose were well executed. The service was outstanding and the outside seating allows you to dine comfortably with your dog. We will definitely return again when we’re in the area.

Overall my wife and I had a great experience on our date night. The waiter was attentive and made great recommendations for our entree and paired it with a nice red wine. The crab cakes were good but a bit mushy. They could use a little more crisp and bite, but good nonetheless. The veggies were a bit overcooked for my taste and my wife's beef wellington was a bit soggy, but everything came out in a timely fashion and tasted very good. I ordered the spare ribs and can say that although it tasted very good, I would have liked the option of a different side as I'm not a big fan of mashed potatoes. The dessert, a chocolate dome, was fantastic and helped cap a wonderful evening. The ambiance in the restaurant was pleasant and the indoor dining room wasn't lit too brightly. We will definitely be coming back and trying the outdoor dining for a different experience.
