Really good food. Get the flaming appetizer. Not over priced either. Very reasonably and nicely cooked. I'll get the fish next time. The gyro are great. They passed the taste test.
Terrific value. The food is delicious and the portions are generous. Gyro platter comes with 2 sides. I had the chicken lemon soup and the spinach/rice/feta sides. And, the gyro bread was fresh and the meat very tasty.
We will definitely return to try their lamb and fish entrees.
I was searching for a restaurant that was small and not noisy. Conversation is often so difficult in so many of our restaurants here in Sarasota. I had my birthday at Opa Opa. Very interesting restaurant in the Gulf Gate neighborhood of Sarasota. Lots of Greek staples. When I went, I had a Gyro, which was very good. Dining room kind of opens up to the street, creating a very interesting atmosphere. Server was polite and knowledgeable about the menu.
This small authentic Greek restaurant is the way to go in Gulf gate.I have not been able to make it past the gyro because they are that fantastic! The tzatziki sauce is fresh. The spanakopita is a large portion and is quite nice. I also like to indulge in the Greek fries. You may also get takeout. T
This is a really great place. The food and service is absolutely superb! The gyro is the best I've ever had hands down. I definitely plan on returning to try more of their fabulous menu. Thank you Sybil for the phenomenal service!
Reasonable prices. Best grape leaves I've had in some time. Stuff with meat n traditional spices etc. Usually get the rice stuffing, not so good. Had octopus and lamb gyro, excellent. People go go go. Snow people there are parts of Sarasota your missing out on. This is 5 minutes from midnight pass.

I don't know why this place isn't packed every night. Nothing pretentious here. Just delicious Greek food at a reasonable price. The Greek salad was fresh and hit the spot. Spanakopita is always wonderful. The staff is very attentive.

As a Greek girl I am picky about my Greek food, but Opa Opa doesn't disappoint. Their food is authentic and it's a great local Greek option. Gulf Gate is a hopping little area that has great shops and lots of food options so it's a must-do area if you are from out of town.
Loved this little treasure!! We made a reservation for 4 and changed it at the last minute to add a friend- very accommodating! Sybil took very good care of us and the food was AMAZING- will go back again with more friends!!
