My first time there,I ordered the dozen Top neck clams on the half shell,to my surprise the clams were opened to order, the absolute freshest, opened perfectly without any damage to the clam inside, cold and delicious, firm and excellent flavor!! AMAZING ! Then I ordered the Blackened Grouper with sautéed spinach with garlic, the Grouper was cooked perfectly, firm texture, moist and delicious mild flavor!! Spinach just right delicious also!! What a wonderful pleasant surprise. I’ve eaten a lot of oysters, clams, and fish in Sarasota restaurants and this meal was definitely #1. Also the entertainment was excellent, and the staff and other employees friendly, very accommodating and professional. Then on top of all that the prices were so reasonable for the freshness and quality meal. We will be back soon and I hope often. Thank all of you at Captain Brian’s for a great experience! Ken Hiler and Cathy Brand. PS I forgot to mention great salad bar included lol
In the past, I have enjoyed halibut only when visiting in Seattle. I was so pleased to see it on the menu at Captain Brian's. I ordered it (grilled) and it did not disappoint! The portion was generous and perfectly prepared. The salad bar is always wonderful and the seafood chowder superb. I will mention that the waitstaff are polite but somewhat curt--rushed maybe, but it wasn't particularly busy on a Monday night. I used to think that perhaps I was a little sensitive, but then a friend whom we dined with also described the waitress as "curt". That being said, Captain Brian's is still among my favorite restaurants in the area. With the addition of a little "service with a smile", I'd rate it a 5+!
The freshes seafood, extensive salad bar. Mussels were delicious, larger than most we have eaten elsewhere.
Had lobster for special event. Yummy.
Our waitress wasn’t too attentive. The restaurant is a favorite of mine.
I have been looking for a good seafood restaurant since I returned to Sarasota/Bradenton in January. Little did I know it was right around the corner from me. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. The wait staff fast and friendly. On the moderate price range but worth every penny.
Nice place to visit near the Airport. The mushroom crab bisque was amazing!!! It should be on the menu everyday. Enjoyed the Lobster Roll. My wife loved the Fried Shrimp.
Captain Brian is a dear friend of my family. Have been going here for 20+ years and the food, service, staff, and overall environment is consistently immaculate. Never a dissapointment. Not a fan of seafood but always love my meals when I come! Fish always fresh and staff are always friendly. By far one of my favorite restaurants!
Seafood and service was very good. Got the seafood platter with scallops, grouper, shrimp and an awesome crab cake $21. Will definitely be back!!
The food was incredible and the service was excellent. We highly recommend the Block Island Swordfish and Crab cakes.
Staff is Wonderfull. Bang- bang shrimps, clam chowder, snappers are delicious, fresh and tasty fish. Salad bar is amazing. Will recommend it to everyone.

Great food, service was excellent. Everything fresh. Best Seafood in Sarasota. I really recommend
We have been eating there for years and have never been disappointed! Food portions are more than enough! I always leave with a take away box! The salad bar alone is worth the trip!!!!!
Best seafood offerings in the area!
Made a second visit with four friends. All were very happy with the menu offerings and the delicious seafood. They loved the dining atmosphere and the display of fresh wild caught delicacies of the sea! We all shall return with others to discover the treasures of the sea!
Dorothy is a very excellent waitress!
A third dining experience with friends. The lunch included the delicious seafood chowder, shrimp salad plated with various goodies, the fried oysters, calamari, and the tuna steak sandwich; ate all but the plates!
Waitress Karen gave us excellent service!
Check out the fresh seafood market section!
Amazing experience, my server was absolutely awesome; brought me out two sweet teas immediately so I had enough drink. I’ve had snow crab legs in Alaska and the ones I got from here totally beat those out. So good all around and highly recommended!
They have great fresh seafood from the Gulf to Maine & Alaska. The seafood chowder was probably the best I've had. Mussels were great. The steamers were great.
I would have been 5 plus stars but a little skimpy on the portion size of the steamers.
The seafood is delicious! Highly recommend the fried oyster basket. I have been visiting this restaurant since I was a kid and still attend as an adult. The seafood chowder is good as well. I would like more done with the French fries but the seafood is good so I keep going! Wait staff hangs out chatting at the bar which is a bit unprofessional, the place definitely could use an update as far as decor and look. But if you like fried oysters definitely visit!
WOW, amazing place here excellent food and price very fairly. Portions are bigger than others 👍. GREAT SERVICE since we walked in. Has a special feel to the place where everyone one knows the customers by fisrt names Thanks Jim, anna and a thanks to Chris. Congratulations
The owner was a very nice man and he shared the story of how he wants to keep Brians legacy going! The food was good and cooked well. The service was excellent! And the place needed updated. But a wonderful good experience! Thanks we will definitely come back for the fresh seafood!
Blackened red snapper sandwich and a cup of Manhattan clam chowder.
Good tasting chowder, not enough clam.
Slightly overcooked bland fish.
Fries were ok.
For the price, don't think I'll be back.
First visit. New England clam chowder was awesome. Smaller portions than other places we have been. The fish was extremely fresh and delightful. Husband had platter, all great (shrimp, crab cake, scallops, grouper). I had fish and chips. What I liked the best was batter was not heavy and oily, nice and light on everything.
Guy was singing with guitar...was nice background music, not too loud.
The seafood is really fresh and the staff is very friendly. It’s my sleeper favorite in Sarasota. I def recommend the seafood chowder and New England steamers.
Easy to find and we were seated quickly! Got the lunch menu here at 3 pm. Seafood chowder, grouper bites and grouper basket ordered. The salad was unique with beets and lotsa fresh veggies.
Capt. Brian sold the place to the employees and occasionally helps to filet the fish, as they are shipped here whole. Delicious.
Next time will try the key lime pie!
Servers were efficient and friendly and attentive. Menu Prices in line with other similar offerings. Drinks were moderately high as a LIIT was $12.
Ambiance is very seaworthy. :-)
