A truly authentic Greek restaurant.. The food was absolutely amazing. We started off with the Saganaki and then had the White Bean Soup. Both were terrific. I could have taken a jar of the soup home!
My husband had the Moussaka and even though he was full could not stop eating it. I had one of the specials of the day, Giouvetsi. My husband, as full as he was, kept taking bites of my supper once his was finished. I have never tasted lamb that was prepared so well.
The service was fantastic. George, the owner, made sure we enjoyed our meal. His daughter was our server and very helpful and extremely nice. George's wife does ALL the cooking herself.
We cannot wait to go back!
A nice dinner. Our meal began with Saganaki, a flaming cheese appetizer. It tasted good but was too small, probably because I had to share it with my wife. The small Greek salad that followed was fine. For my entrée I tried the Lahano dolmades with cream lemon sauce. It was three cabbage leaves stuffed with a beef mixture and covered with a liberal amount of the cream lemon sauce. I know little about Greek food and can’t attest to how it compares to the same dish elsewhere. I can say the predominate flavor was the lemon sauce which I liked, and therefore I liked this dish.
Service was informal and personable, helping us understand some of the menu items. They also had roast pork and lamb specials tonight.

I loved this restaurant. The food was amazing especially the flaming cheese and Greek salad. The waiter/owner was very nice and very Greek. El greco doesn't even come close to how delicious this food taste. Definitely coming back.
Truly wonderful Greek food. The best Moussaka that I’ve had In years. Could actually taste all the intricate flavors of the dish. Also, had a wonderful sauce over the cooked octopus appetizer. Salad was tasty and fresh. Loved eating the authentic homemade dishes with the Greek music playing in the background.
We were the only diners on a Friday night, which i will never understand. The food was absolutely delicious—one of the best spinach pies I’ve had in my life. The house salad was fresh and had great flavors and presentation. The server was friendly and attentive. Clean, welcoming, and super yummy! We will definitely return!
I found the Greek Taverna when I first moved to the area and was homesick missing my Greek family’s cooking. I was so happy to have found this place, it made me feel like I was right back at home. The food is amazing and authentic coming from a Greek. I will be back again soon!
Quaint little restaurant with very delicious Greek food. Service was prompt and courteous. (I believe the waiter was the owner) Only two other tables were occupied at the time we arrived. (Sunday evening). I chose the Octopus and Pasta and my wife ordered the Greek Giouvetsi. The octopus was cooked to perfection. (Not rubbery). This dish was FLAVORFUL. The roasted chunks lamb my wife ordered said it was very tender/tasty. All the Greek restaurants I have dined, this is one that I will return for dinner. For a small business, this place packs a punch when to comes to Greek dining. Give it a try, I believe you will not be disappointed.
We had dinner at the Greek Taverna tonight and it was awesome! We had traditional Greek food from Greek Country bread to moussaka, spanakopita and for dessert a decadent piece of Galaktoboureko. It was warm right from the oven. It is made of phyllo dough, a creamy custard filling, and an unbelievable syrup, made with sugar, water, honey, cinnamon, and lemon zest. We will definitely be back.
Absolute hidden gem, delicious food! Tastes homemade, very filling and flavorful!! The waiter that was there was lovely, excellent service. Will be back if we come back to Sarasota!
My husband is Greek so we always look for the Greek restaurants. We were visiting from Ohio and found this little place. We loved it. My husband said it’s the best meal he’s had in Sarasota. They have all of the traditional home-style Greek dishes he loves. He had the Plaki (fish) and I had the Dolmades (like grape leaves, only made with cabbage leaves.) They even had non-alcoholic beer for me, which is a rare find at a small restaurant like this. Opah!

The lamb there is so perfectly cooked! Saganaki was good but oily. We loved how they light it right in front of you though. The best thing on the menu is the rice pudding!
Outstanding everything!!! Relaxed atmosphere, great service and food! Lemon orzo soup and spanakopita (spinach pie) followed by lemon custard baked in phyllo - so delicious. Will definitely go again next time we're in Sarasota.
Delicious very authentic food Shhhh…the food is even better than my grandmother’s! The Greek Taverna is a go-to favorite for my parents who take me there when I visit . Vanessa is a warm and welcoming manager who knows the regulars’ order by heart. Lamb Gouvetzi, Greek salad, grilled octopus and souvlaki are winners. The shopping center looks run down but step inside to enjoy this gem!
We discovered this late in our stay. We only got Carryout but the food was delicious. The person on the phone was helpful & courteous. We had Dolmadakia (stuffed grape leaves) very tasty. The lamb gyro were full and fresh and had a good flavor. The tzatziki sauce was terrific not just sour cream. A Greek salad to round out the meal. A neighborhood gem with mostly chains or only bar food available. The interior had table cloths & looked inviting. We will be back.

Food, service and ambiance were wonderful! The broiled octopus, Greek salad and lamb entrees were delicious!! As was the galactobouriko! Yum!! Highly recommend :)
Went on a Thursday night with my wife on a whim to sit down to eat with no expectations other than a meal. Normally we order their gyros (which are excellent) for take out. But tonight we wanted a sit down experience to try some of their other authentic greek dishes and we were absolutely blown away!
From the service to the food, they did not miss a single beat. Everything was excellent. I was floored. Our host/server was on point. Every suggestion he made was spot on from appetizer to entree to dessert! The chef was on point as well. Everything was cooked perfectly and was flavorful. We will absolutely be coming here again. If you haven’t gone here to sit down to eat. Absolutely do it!
Good food, friendly staff, and even though the space was small it was was nice! Baklava was $3 and amazing. Will definitely go back!
I got the lamb gyro..........amazing. seriously delicious. I am debating on driving over and getting another one right now.
