Stopped read menu on street & saw gazpacho. Went & pleasant surprise. There was a small bar, a pizza open kitchen, and a series of booths. A larger kichen o n the side prepared main dishes. Met at door and lead to seat. Waitress came right away. Took order for bowl of gazpacho & pita bread &
Have to thank "the ex" for introducing me to this go-to institution, I was unaware of it until we met. Now I've been coming here for 25 years. They've been here since 1958.
And in that quarter century nothing has changed except a few faces and the prices. The service is wonderful and friendly, very
The food was good, but in my honest opinion, just subpar. You can definitely make sandwiches like this at home, but prices are cheap and you get what you pay for. We got the Italian sandwich and the Sarasotan wrap. I would recommend if you work in the area, but don’t go out of your way to come here.
Brings back fond memories of coming with my dad for a French Dip with my dad some 50 years ago.. food was even better than it was back, then definitely a place to come to see an original Sarasota sandwich shop!!
This place is old Sarasota. It's where the locals work and eat lunch. My wife & daughter had visited before, but this was my first time. I was not disappointed. The food was great ( always THE most important thing) , the local diner ambiance was exactly what I expected and the waitress was as friendl
Great place for lunch, very inexpensive, quick service, and delicious food. What is not to love? The Sampler Platter was delicious with large cubes of feta cheese, olives, onion, cucumber, and oil and seasoning, served with warm pita bread. The Double Italian is even more delicious with mounds of cu
This sandwich shop is everything you want in an old school down right delicious sandwich shop. Decor from the 60’s/70’s. Images from the previous owner during their circus life. The service is quick, friendly, and inexpensive. Highly recommend for a quick bite to eat.
Old school, kinda dark, nostalgic vibe. Extensive sandwich menu, fantastic chili, hard working staff. Highly recommend. There’s a reason they’ve been in business 60 years.
Low key, excellent sandwiches and salads, and reasonable pricing. A nice reprieve that feels familiar even when it's your first time. Lots of regulars with many years of attendance.
Came here to waste some time before going to see a movie. I ordered the Aztec, my daughter ordered the ham melt. Both sandwiches were amazing!! Wish I lived here because I would come here every day!
I love this place it reminds me of the 1970s -80s and gives you that very northern and intimate diner setting. The food is good and again reminds me of a Northern type facility. The Mayan and Aztec are my go to’s and the cottage cheese is always tasting fresh when I get it. This place is sort of a h
This place is a great step back in time. The service was fantastic and the food excellent.
It's hard to find a nice assortment of soups. This place has them.. and every one of them is delicious too. Great sandwiches.. tons to choose from. An old Sarasota staple. I recommend a visit
Just ordered your famous Italian sub for my husband and he is absolutely raving! Wow! So happy we found you!
Really impressed with this restaurant. Stopped in for lunch. The atmosphere is really unique and comfortable for a sandwich shop. Dine in booths and a bar. Both the famous Italian sandwich and the chocolate chip cookie were excellent. The sandwich was hot on a nice crispy bread and the cookie w
Our server was fabulous. We would come again just to have her serve us again. The good was great also.
