House made and fresh, creative food. A real gem in a land of chain restaurants that continually serve mediocre food. Stop by and see Joe and John. You will not be disappointed!

I've never been to Southside Deli before, didn't even know it existed. Driven by it thousands of times but, well, no excuses.
So when I found myself with a hungry tummy and a desire for a good sandwich, I didn't expect Google to show me a place a block from SMH.
Parking is tight in the area, 4 spaces right in front and more on Hillview but busy times are going to be .... an entertaining excerise.
Or you can call your order in and pick it up at the drive-thru window. A drive-thru at a non-fast food restaurant? That's nuts and terrific.
The menu is displayed on several flat screens above the counter but they change kind of quickly so it took a few passes to read everything and make a decision.
To say my muffuletta panini was 'hot off the press' is both an understatement and a terrible pun. It was delivered to my table within 2 minutes of ordering and I couldn't pick it up for a minute without risk of burning my fingers. This place is a well-oiled machine full of friendly staff. And it is really clean, it looked like it just opened at the start of the lunch rush.
Once it cooled down a few notches it was a tasty sandwich. The olive tapenade was milder than on other muffulettas I've had but still a good, fairly light lunch with a pickle spear on the side.
And now that I know they're there, I'll be stopping in again.
Plenty of space for the walker & wheelchair crowd to navigate. The front door is wide and the tables seem well-spaced. Might be a touch tight getting to the bathrooms, though, as cases of drinks line the hallway.
Good quality was actually really great and you can taste that it’s fresh! The staff was very friendly and inviting. The hot sandwiches are delicious and we got the Gelato which was excellent and made in house. Definitely recommend
Can honestly say this is the #1 deli in Sarasota. The atmosphere is so clean and welcoming as is the staff. Always greeted with a smile and a pleasant welcome. The gentleman who runs the place is so kind and works so hard you can just feel it in the air. The food is always delicious I could eat every meal of my day here. 10 out of 10!
Good spot to stop in for ice cream and snacks. We came with a large group and the gelato was really good. It’s in a good location but a bit off of 41. Great outdoor seating as well. Stop in if you are in the area.
First timer at SouthSide Deli, and the food was Tasty and Yummy! Absolutely, love the Corn Beef sandwich! My New Favorite Deli❤️
This place has great food! I got a patty melt with fries and it was delicious. My whole party enjoyed their sandwiches. We got crumb cake and a milkshake for dessert, which were tasty too. Nice atmosphere and clean.

Great neighborhood deli. Homemade soups, great salads, and wonderful sandwiches, too! Eat-in or take-out (drive-thru window).

Everyone working there was super nice. My sandwich was served quickly. I wasn't super impressed with the NY corned beef. Rye bread was awesome but the slaw and 1000 island dressing we're mediocre at best.
We really like Southside and have been coming here regularly for about 4 years. It's locally owned. The food is always fresh, reasonably priced and the service is friendly. There's nothing flashy about this food; just simple ingredients and simple recipes...which we really love. We'll continue to visit!
