Hole-in-the-Wall with GREAT Mexican!. Another Sarasota hole-in-the -wall Mexican that gets it right. What is it? Are all the good authentic Mexican restos in Sarasota now?
I happened in here upon randomly seeing them on the road while driving. Credit to me that I took a chance and stopped in there for lunch to go. The tacos al pastor and also with carnitas were really good along with the gorditas con lengua. I came back two days later for some more gorditas and a torta.
The torta was especially good, with its thick spread of beans, goodly layer of avocado and Mexican cheese and all the lettuce and wonderfully ripe Florida tomato. The gorditas can best be described as "stick- to-your-ribs".
If you want a meal in itself, get the Torta Milaneza (Mexican fried meat sandwich), It's gigantic and only $5.75.
The guy at the counter is as nice as he can be, and the head chef, the one with the red chef's toque is really an artist who could only be appreciated in a place like this.
This is DEFINITELY a place to head to whenever you find yourself in Sarasota and are looking for good, inexpensive AUTHENTIC Mexican take-out.
Barbacoa burrito or Barbacoa quesadilla
Real coke or Real fanta
That is all. Personally I get no beans. But man, it is perfection. The quality does drop a bit later in the day, but earlier in the day, like around lunch, is peak. The service speed is typical for places that make REAL food. And the prices are super good, like 6 or 7 dollars. So it's very worth it. It's a very small, tight space, yet the environment is always relaxed. No yelling from the kitchen, nice TV, good ceiling fan coverage, and everyone typically talks quiet and I've never seen a baby while there. Of course you can just take the food to go too. Orders come with a free side salad, though I've never really been a big fan of it. It comes with a good blanket of parmasean cheese over it but is pretty bland over all. Recommend putting their green or red sauce on it. Speaking of the red and green sauce, that's their specialty I think. They're in bottles on every table and really good. Use as much as you want. They're pretty runny, yet they're full sauces and stick very well when dipping. Reminds me of taco bell sauce but even better. But yeah. Amazing place
Live close by but never been in before today. Mostly a market with a small restaurant tucked in at one end. Three tables for eating in or take it to go. Staff not wearing masks or gloves. The picture of the dirty tables is how they were when I entered. 20 minutes later the refuse was cleared away. All the people were waiting on takeout orders like me.
The line to order is not noticeable and the only menu is above the register & in Spanish. There are a few dishes in the hot area, today is pork chops, chicken & a couple things I didn't immediately recognize.
With only 2 people working at 2 pm on a Wednesday the service is a bit slow. Took 25 minutes to get my order. Once I did, wow. Ordered 2 burritos, one carne, one chorizo. Each came with an order of rice & refried beans. After I finished them I only had room for 1/2 a burrito. They're huge. And delicious.
If the place were less of a mess, and the service was quicker, I would've gone with 5 stars but as it stands, 4 is all it gets.
Delicious Mexican food. Here you will find Mexican food in addition to Latin products... best quality meat at very good prices.
Love this store so many products to choose from lots of very friendly people 😊 very delicious Carne asada
Decent tacos for Sarasota. I'd get them here again, but not quite as good as La Primavera Supermarket, IMO.
Amazing food!! Only place we'll buy "Mexican" food! Fresh, great meat & wonderful customer service!
Friendly staff and good prepared food. Guillermo makes the most amazing guacamole you have ever had. I was suggested it a couple of months ago and now I go specifically for it. Last time he made it on a Saturday I bought two huge containers of it. I almost don't want to share how good it was so I can make sure I get some but it is amazing. They see me come in and know what I'm there for lol
Place overall was good, had a vast variety of Hispanic products. Not just Mexican products, but others as well. Although it is very small and cramped. So it's a bit clustered up with product. The food was ok, tacos were decent for the price. And the staff was great. Definitely not a bad spot for quick convenience.
Found what I was looking for, staff were very nice, upbeat atmosphere and as a bonus, their prices at the register were consistent with the prices on the shelf, unlike at La bodega! (other Hispanic store in the area that tried to rip me off, stay away)!
No a bad place. They have authentic Mexican food and it is good. It's a grocery and restaurant too. They actually sell the taco meat raw so I cook at home sometimes. It's good since it's right by the house but the produce isn't in great shape and is expensive too. I get better price and quality at Publix. Is worth going but shop elsewhere for your produce.
Love this place. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Great ready food prices as well as butcher meat prices.
Great butcher, hot food and small grocery store. Great service and good food
Excellence in product, customer service, and great hot food. Awesome Sauce!
The food is delicious. We had the pork tacos. The meat was tender and flavorful. The tortillas were fresh. It is also a grocery so don't expect atmosphere.
