The food was great! I really enjoyed the food! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming . I would most definitely recommend coming here! The only thing I didn’t like was the greens but everybody taste buds are different so it might be good to you all! Our server took great care of us, I didn’t get his name though! They are known for their banana pudding and they didn’t disappoint at all with it!

This was our first visit to Sweet Potatoes. The sign is on the side of a house, but the actual restaurant further back and has ample parking. Some reviews mentioned that the decor was dated but I disagree. It reminds me of some of my favorite places in the Caribbean. A bubbling fountain, bold colors, terracotta stained floor, ceiling fans, some stucco breaking off around the bottom of windows. It’s supposed to look like this, people!! The restaurant is very clean and cozy, the staff is welcoming, and the food was delicious ! The menu offers many tempting choices. My partner had a Greek salad with blackened shrimp, I had a crispy fried chicken breast with white gravy, beets and garlic mashed potatoes. We enjoyed both meals. For dessert, banana pudding. And, yes, it’s right up there with the best! So glad we found this little gem- we’ll definitely return!

Wonderful customer service from the moment we stepped in. Servers were quick and friendly. We ordered the Peach BBQ chicken and of course the famous banana pudding. Everything was wonderful. We were staying at a nearby hotel and the sign by the road "Worlds Best Banana Pudding" caught our eye. Glad we stopped by.

My other half and I dined here for the first time yesterday and I was so impressed. From the service and friendly southern greeting at the door, to our knowledgeable server, all the the way down to the perfectly cooked food it was perfect, every bite was infused with flavor. Just to top it off I ordered some banana pudding to go which was hands down best decision I’ve ever made. Loved it! We will be back! Thanks guys ✨

The food here is delicious! We ordered our food to-go and the lady who took our order was so kind and sweet. I ordered the Jamaican jerk chicken, Brussels sprouts and of course the banana pudding. Everything came out quick and certainly didn’t disappoint. I highly recommend this restaurant!

This 4 star rating is based on our overall experience. Off the beaten path, not in the tourist areas of Savannah. Had heard about this place from a friend, so had to try it out. We had to knock off a star for the cleanliness and appearance. It appears to be an older place that may have been here for awhile. Cute place, colorful decor, pleasant and helpful staff. Found floor was slippery, not sure if it was the coating on the floor, we had really good traction shoes, but felt like I could slip at anytime on the floor, almost felt like if they mopped the water they used had an oil in it. The ceiling tiles looked liked they had some water leaks and some mold on them. I am not usually particular about the tiles, but if you put that much effort to have a nice appearance, you would be attentive to the ceiling also. But we did not go there for the building, we came for the food. So we had the meatloaf with the glaze and liver and onions. Meatloaf was a nice size portion w/ a mildly sweet glaze similar to like a chutney. It was a sandwich, but ate it with fork and knife. It was not the typical dense brick meatloaf, it was lighter with a very enjoyable taste. Not heavy, but easy to chew and enjoy the flavors. Side was sweet potato fries, come on, if you are at a restaurant named "Sweet Potatoes Kitchen" you have to have something sweet potato, unfortunately there really wasn't anything special about them. They were sprinkled with possibly a mixture of brown sugar and other things to add some sweetness to it. The liver and onions were good, I get weird cravings every once in awhile and it happened to be on this trip. Nicely sauteed onions on thin strips of liver, not overdone, good flavor. Sides sweet potato w/ butter pecan butter, and cabbage which i think was a special side for the day. I enjoyed the sweet potato w/ butter pecan, not too sweet. The cabbage had a nice flavor to it and was not too soft or watery. The biscuit, was a biscuit. Nothing special. We did save room for the banana pudding. It was good, but not sure if I would order again. The wafers were crispy, real bananas in there. It was sweet, little airy for me. Not sure if they mix the whip w/ the pudding. I kinda like mine separated. It was good, but I think I would try something else. We enjoyed our time there and the food, other people's food looked good, people seemed very happy with their orders. We would enjoy going back and trying other items.

Really good food and service! I ordered cod fish with some collard greens and garlic mashed potatoes. Cod fish was really fresh. Collard green was alright but the hot sauce made it really yum. Mashed potatoes were also nice with the hot sauce. Price was really good for the portion. Service was really friendly and meal was served on a warm plate (so proper!!!). Really had a good experience there.

I had to be in Savannah for a few days for work, so my partner and I stayed for nearly a week, so we'd have a bit of time to look around. We flew in from the UK, and were staying right on the Savannah River, so there's no way we'd ever have stumbled across Sweet Potatoes Kitchen if it hadn't been for a recommendation from a local. So glad we made the effort and took the trip out of town. It really felt like we got a true taste of Savannah/Georgia/Southern food and hospitality. I had the pot roast (also recommended by the local mentioned above), and my partner had the blackened chicken recommended by our waitress. Both were excellent, and well complimented by the side of collard greens. For pudding, we decided to be sensible and share a piece of the coconut layer cake. It was fantastic. A lovely taste and texture of coconut with layers of sponge that were delightful 😊. I can't recommend this place enough. If you're in the area, do yourself a favour and call in!

If you're looking for authentic southern cooking and hospitality, this is the place!! We are from Pennsylvania and wanted the above, so we decided to give this place a try. It exceeded our expectations! Everyone was very friendly with a "Welcome Y'all!" Our food was delicious and reasonably priced for the large portions. Don't leave without the famous banana pudding as tried by Man vs Food!! It was fantastic. We are already planning our next visit!

Ok so the food here is straight up incredible! Numerous choices and sides. The Banana Pudding is the best we have ever had! Only reason I didn’t award five stars on the actual location is due to wear and tear. Not the most well kept interior but that doesn’t bother you, this place is fantastic!

Sweet Potatoes is a "Southern Find" for me. It has everything I can ask for from service staff to food and bar if desired. Tables are nicely spaced in multiple eating sections for a comfortable feeling. I had grilled catfish in a sandwhich that was made with one of the yummiest rolls I've had. The catfish was done to perfection. Really was tender and juicy. With it I had great black eyed peas and Lima beans. I noted the black eyed peas were properly firm, unlike most found in other restaurants that are soft, soggy and much smaller. You can really see why a black eyed pea is a bean. These black eyes weren't giant, rather just right. Sweet Potatoes has everything from chicken to fish to meat and other offerings you can choose from. You won't be lacking choices. Give it a try. Sweet Potatoes is a winner.

Staff was amazing and got us seated quickly. They are very busy so you could have a wait. Daily special was fried chicken and looked good. I had the gumbo and it was fantastic. Wife had the jerk pork chop and it too was so well seasoned. We will visit on our next trip.

Came early to best the crowd. It's hidden from the street, but that does not stop people from coming. Our server was wonderful. Food was delicious. Will definitely come back.

I've been to Sweet Potatoes Kitchen in their current and previous locations. Each visit was excellent. The staff is phenomenal. This last visit I called about 2:30pm to pick up an order at 3:15pm. The staff didn't say anything. Turns out they closed at 3pm. However, they stuck around to make sure I got my food. You never see this level of service. Some of our favorite dishes are the Liver, the meatloaf sandwich, and the banana pudding is beyond amazing. Definitely going back to see them again and again.

I ordered the peach BBQ chicken and it was absolutely delicious! It was so tender, it fell off the bone. For $14 you get a thigh, drumstick, wing, and breast. I also got the sweet potato fries and roasted brussel sprouts. Excellent excellent excellent! And the banana pudding is the best you will ever taste in your entire life. I highly recommend! You are in for a treat.

Absolutely lovely experience. My friend and I were coming from a long roadtrip and heard about this place so much, so we decided to stop by. We came in 10 minutes before closing time, an I have never felt more welcome. The servers did not rush us out, to the contrary, the attention was amazing, so warm, and attentive. The food on the other hand… was so delicious!! And comforting. I first learned from this place because from Ollie & Josh on their Youtube series video “Brits try REAL Southern Fried Chicken for the first time”, since then I wantes to come! The food looked great, and the service aswell. Lastly, the banana pudding… they can keep bragging about it.. indeed is ONE OF THE BEST!! Magnolia in NYC has nothing on them!

Best southern meal we had in Savannah. The fried chicken is moist, the Brussels sprouts are cooked perfectly, and when they say the banana pudding is best in the world, they’re not lying. We scarfed down the banana pudding and sweet potato pie faster than we realized. This place is a must for anyone visiting the Savannah area!

Best restaurant in Savannah!! We ordered the jerk chicken with mashed sweet potatoes, black-eyed pea relish, and dilled Lima beans, and the pecan crusted chicken with sweet potato fries and lemon collards. It was all fantastic. The jerk chicken was sweet and smoky with just the right amount of spice. The mashed sweet potatoes and relish were the perfect accompaniment. The pecan chicken was just as good, with crispy fries, and tangy greens. The food was fresh and so flavorful. Save room for dessert! The coconut cake and banana pudding were amazing. My wife has sampled the coconut cake at restaurants across the country and said it was the best she ever had. Also, excellent, friendly service with great food recommendations! Pro tip - come early on Saturday to avoid the rush. On his way out, a local said this is the best restaurant in Savannah, and we agree!
