Ohhhh man, Hickory Pit! This is the place that taught me pulled pork, slaw and hot sauce are the perfect ingredients for a BBQ sandwich. Their sides are the bomb too. Try the fried green tomatoes.
Good service. Jumbo BBQ sandwich is big. BBQ was a tad dry but still good. Had great plate lunch menu as well. Sweet tea was just about right. Will eat there again.
Good Lawd, SOOOOO GOOD!!! A gem found passing through town, thank you Urbanspoon reviews!!! My country fried steak & gravy, okra, baked beans and deviled eggs were phenomenal! Felt like a plate from home! Oh, and the chocolate pie was pretty awesome too. Friendly girls, smiling and wishing you a great day... God I love the South!!!
I love the bbq! We also love the chicken salad sandwich made with real smoked chicken. The baked potatoes were hot and fresh. Service was fast and friendly.
The food was amazing, perfect stop for anyone passing through.
Three categories to rate this restaurant. 1. Food - BBQ was average, vegetables were GREAT! Fried chicken fingers were awesome as was sausage on sausage and cheese plate. Sweet tea was the bomb! 2. Scenery - spectacular!!! Some quite attractive scenery waiting on our table and I don't care how old she was - she was HOT! 3. Service - the sweetest, kindest, and most genuine people taking care of us. I'd go back just for the service. Don't expect Memphis BBQ, but all else was great - we'll go back.
LOVE LOVE LOVE. I love the Hickory Pit! I eat here all the time. My favorites are the hand battered chicken tenders, neon cheese fries, hickory switch, and of course their famous barbeque sandwich!
Great place to eat. My wife and I stopped by the Hickory Pit while on a trip across TN during Thanksgiving week. We both had the pulled pork sandwich and were both pleased. I'm a pretty big boy and I was looking for a doggy bag so get ready if you order the jumbo.
Awesome as usual! Good pulled pork, and chicken too. Check out this half eaten HUGE platter of onion rings. Couldn't eat anymore. So hard to waste them but so stuffed!! Thanks HP for awesome kindness and excellent iced tea!
My husband and I were headed into Bruton Branch Campground and decided to grab a late lunch. We rode through Savannah and made a quick U-turn to pull into this amazing place. We have eaten bbq across the south and were excited to try it. I was so impressed by the service, the food and the portions! I opted for the Piggy Fries and they were AMAZING (and enough for 2 meals). My husband had the mini pulled pork sandwich and an order of onion rings (again, enough for 2 meals). Always tasty! I like the Southwest Eggrolls, cheesesticks, BBQ, and the Chicken Potatoes. They a plate lunch too, and a large selection of pie.
Not bad BBQ. Not the best I've ever had but I don't regret eating there. Had the pulled pork plate, came with more food than I could eat. Pork was good and they had two choices of sauce; a hot and a mild. Both had good flavor but hot wasn't really all that hot. Came with crinkle cut fries - average, coleslaw - good but a little dry, beans - good, and a really good dinner roll. Also had the onion rings as an appetizer - excellent! I'd probably go back just for those. Overall I was pleased with my decision to visit the Hickory Pit
I have visited Hickory Pit numerous times in the last few years. Consistency is the word that comes to mind. The staff is consistently friendly and will go out of their way for you. The food is consistently fantastic. I'd rate them 10 stars if I could! Keep up the great work!!!!
Really Good Food and Unbelievably Fast. Great Service!! Nice little place to have lunch and more than reasonable. I think everyone that passes thru or lives there should frequent this place.
My favorite resturaunt in the area. They are small but the food is great. Generous portions and a good menu. Fair prices. Clean store and friendly staff! Love it!!
