East coast native and world traveler. I've had the good fortune to enjoy Italian food all over the world and the pizza and cuisine at Promo is fantastic! The staff, chef and owner we're friendly and generous. Highly recommend for those living or visiting the Phoenix area. Thank you.
This place has the BEST gluten free crust I've ever had! I seriously questioned whether or not it was gluten free. It's THAT good! Their bartender Tony is wicked awesome, too! He always takes great care of everyone and makes the best recommendations!

OMG, we went there yesterday and the porchetta pizza was amazing. I am already planning my return many more times for this particular pizza before February is over. One of the best ever. There was so much porchetta and flavor. Truly delicious. I love everything about Pomo.

Excellent food, I highly recommend. Our waitress was no good, did not welcome us, or tell us about specials, and did not check on us enough.
I had pasta and my sisters had Panini’s. The food was wonderful with great flavors. We sat on the outdoor patio and our server Terry took great care of us. I will definitely visit Pomo’s again.
Went here one week after we got home from a trip to Naples, Italy... We were hesitant to eat pizza so soon after returning, but the pizza here did not disappoint. The fresh pasta is also amazing! Would highly recommend.
What a great experience beginning to end! Being new to the area I couldn’t figure out the meters and the manager came out to help me..then I made my way in to finally have a date night and started with drinks and the eggplant parmigiana, which was delicious. We ordered two Italian pizzas. My hubby was missing good old fashion authentic Italian pizza and boy this didn’t disappoint. By the way the tiramisu is to die for..will definitely be back very soon! (Downtown Phoenix location)
We happened into this restaurant and I am so glad we did. Absolutely delicious pizza and salad and wonderful service!! Would I recommend it? No question that I would!!

best freaking pizza! the most amazing soft crust!!!! and the ambiance is perfection.
This was our first time here and I have nothing but great things to say about this restaurant, it is amazing! It's beautiful, the decor is great, the food is amazing, and the staff are very very nice and friendly. We can't wait to come back here!
Your waiter Terry in Scottsdale gave probably the best service I have ever had eating out. Very impressed.
I just love this place!!! The food is excellent and the staff is awesome!
Wonderful pizza. I love Napoli style, only thing is I wasn't huge on the ground sausage on the Quattro staggioni. Busy around 7pm when we arrived- to be expected. Otherwise an excellent dinner!
Local Italian-style very cute and nice. the pizzas are good although very small. the ingredients are fresh. The staff is very friendly and helpful. prices slightly above the average.
"The best Pizza in the country, may be in Arizona". I remember chuckling a bit when I heard that statement a few years ago.
Well, during car week 2015 I was able to try two of the very best Pizza places in the country. I was first surprised how different Pomo was from Pizzeria Bianco. Being a somewhat talented Pizzaiolo myself I was intrigued by the light and airy crust that Pomo produces. It is handled very delicately compared to what I am accustomed to. The crust is where it is at with Pizza. Forget the toppings, it's the crust that makes the difference. Pomo's crust is fantastic, plain and simple. The establishment itself is well run with a great bar and staff outside of a host who seemed a but strangely preoccupied. The service was 100% and the food was very close to flawless. This is a must do if you appreciate the Pizza arts. That said, also try Bianco while you are in town. Are these the best Pizza's in the country. I'm not able to say that, but they are for sure two of the best. Fantastic Job!!!
Chicken Salad, Bruscheta and Mushroom Pizza. Everything was fantastic - the mushroom pizza was the best I've had - the tomatoes on the bruscheta were fresh and the chicken salad was great -
The Pinnacle is the Quatro Stagioni. Indecisive? The best way to try a little bit of everything.
Pomo Pizzeria: Best Pizza In Scottsdale. Most of you know, I have an affinity for Neapolitan style pizza. And that’s what makes Pomo Pizzeria in Scottsdale one of my favorite places to eat.
The thing I love most about Neapolitan style pizza is that I never walk away with a “brick” in my stomach...the dreaded “I just ate pizza” feeling.
...Neapolitan style pizza is so light and satisfying, you’ll never look at pizza the same way again!!
The lay of the land...
Pomo is located in the Shops at Gainey Village on the corner of Scottsdale Road. and Doubletree Blvd. The interior boasts high ceilings, an array of windows, and an indoor/outdoor bar concept.
But don’t let the sleek and modern atmosphere fool you...the centerpiece of the whole operation is a hand-built, wood-burning oven crafted from bricks and volcanic sand from Southern Italy. The oven is like a time machine that can transport your taste buds back hundreds of years to the heart of Napoli, Italy. And it’s right there in plain sight so you can watch the magic unfold.
Carpaccio Di Bresaola, the perfect starter...
Start your experience with a platter of razor-thin slices of tender cured beef carpaccio, buried under a pile of peppery arugula salad, tossed in a light lemon vinaigrette, and topped with Parmigiano Reggiano shavings. There’s plenty to share, and it’s not too filling so it’s the perfect way to start your authentic Italian journey.
Slow-rising Sourdough Crust...
The secret to Pomo’s light and chewy crust lies in the highly-refined, organic wheat flour imported 6,267 miles from Molino Caputo in Naples. This slow-rising sourdough takes 24 hours to rise and only 60-90 seconds in the 905 degree oven to produce a piping hot pizza with bubbly cheese and a perfectly charred crust.
The Bufala Verace -- it’s what dreams are made of...
The beauty of this pie lies in the simplicity of the ingredients: Tomato, basil, cheese. That’s it. With every bite there’s a burst of tang from the crushed tomato base, holding hands with creamy Mozzarella di Bufala D.O.P., and a fresh basil finish.
What is D.O.P.?
You’ll notice several items on the menu with initials D.O.P. This stands for the Italian phrase “Denominazione d’ Origine Protetta”. It means the product is a higher level of certification and authenticity. It could easily stand for “Definitely Oozes Perfection”. ;-)
Mozzarella di Bufala D.O.P. is a superior mozzarella cheese made from Italian water buffalo milk, and imported fresh each week. And Tomato San Marzano D.O.P. are the only kind of tomatoes have been designated as the ONLY tomatoes that can be used for a TRUE Neapolitan style pizza.
Ask for a some chili oil to drizzle over the top and dip your crust in if you like a little kick!!
Toppings vs. purity...
If you’re American, you’re probably used to Supreme or Meat Lovers Deluxe style pizza --- more toppings the better. In Napoli, this would be a crime... punishable by starvation or firing squad.
Neapolitan style pizza typically has more sauce than cheese, leaving a wet and slightly soggy middle which is why Italians dig in to their pies with a fork and knife.
When you taste The Bufala Verace in it’s pure form, your outlook on pizza will be forever changed!!
With food and love,
-Ashley
P.S. When you visit Pomo Pizzeria, please let them know you read my review. And then, come back here and tell me about your experience. I love to hear from my readers and get feedback from friends!!
Good food, good service, Scottsdale prices. Mothers Day lunch, place was packed.
Trio of guys, no mothers. Ordered antipasti meat & cheese board. Good quality, razor thin sliced meats Nice olives assortment, with oil & vinegar& bread . The disappointment was the two tiny, but delicious tastes of cheese. For $16, I expect a more satisfying portion of everything.
Lasagne was good. Pizza very good with a crisply perfect crust & quality cheese.
We shared desserts of Tiramisu, which was outstanding, and a cheese tart which was a bit heavy & dense.
Food was very good quality. All our servers were very friendly and efficient.

Service.......B+
Ambience....B (nice bistro)
Value...........C ( pricy, but it is the high rent district!)
Really, really great pizza. This is one of those places where the pizza is SO good that I'm sure the pasta must be as well. But who can order the pasta when the pizza is SO good?!! Ah...first world problems, right?! We shared the delicious Caesar salad (truly great) and the pizza with tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, EVOO, and basil. Fantabulous. Great wine selection, too!
Oh...and check out the olive oil lotion they sell...awesome!
Good pie! Mushroom and pepperoni rocks
Simply perfect pizza and great service. My only gripe is the price. I'm sorry The Parlor, Pomo is my new favorite. I had the Bianco and Pomo. Both were delicious! 2 pizzas and soda came to $48.
The food is excellent! Great ingredients and skill make for quite an enjoyable meal. I always play with the great assortment of salads and pizzas, in addition to the available pastas or soups, in the quelling of my hunger. However, I never skip the tiramisu, which is the best I've had outside of Italy. The setting is modern and somewhat sophisticated and certainly makes for an enjoyable experience. I will say that the only thing keeping 'Pomo down is the occasional rushed service. Aside from that, this is one of my "go-to" places.
Love it. By far my favorite pizza place. All of the ingredients taste super fresh. I love the crust and the robust sauce. The staff is always so friendly and the place seems super clean. No reason to not come back!
Good Stuff. Having lived in Italy for many years it is great to have a place that brings back great memories of evenings with friends enjoying wine and pizza. Many reviewers want an American Style pizza whether NY or Chicago styles, well this is not the place for them.
I for one really enjoy this place and if you have ever lived in Italy you know that this place can be in any little town in Italy and fit in!
Best pizza I have encountered outside of Italy!!! If you are in the Phoenix area, you must try this place!! Pizza and desserts are to die for!!
5 Star Pizza, 1 Star Service. If the pizza wasn't so amazing, I would NEVER go back to this restaurant. First of all, the place is small...very small. I would recommend eating there for lunch on a nice day where you can sit outside. The inside lacks atmosphere and much needed acoustics. The two hostesses took 5 minutes to even acknowledge we were standing there, even though we were the only couple waiting. In typical Scottsdale fashion, a very rude woman barged in front of us and blurted out that she had a reservation for 8. For some reason, both hostesses felt the need to help her first, and then the woman and her date took the last two seats at the bar that should have rightfully been ours. Despite the annoying start to our Pomo experience, the pizza was amazing. We ordered the Caprese, Carpaccio, Buffala BOP pizza, and a Calzone, and it was all beyond delicious. The menu is authentic Italian, Naples style pizzas, using mostly Italian imported products. The wine list is adequate and reasonably priced. We will go back, but it will definitely not be on a weekend.
Great atmosphere!!!. Our sever amber was great!!!! The food was good but I will definitely request amber next time I come here. Nothing but great things to say about her. Our food was prepared in less than 10 minutes on a Saturday night.
I hace to say this is the best Italian pizza in the USA. I'm Italian born and raised so I can talk about pizza and this is by far a real pizza. I recommend this place.
Good but expensive. I'm kind of a pizza geek so I was excited about trying this place. Me and my usual group of friends ordered 4 different pizzas to share. All were good to very good. We especially like the crust, tomato sauce, and the Italian Salame Piccante. All the ingredients were top notch. The Don Alfonso pizza was my favorite. My only complaint about the food is the ingredients didn't blend, you taste each ingredient separately one over powering the other. You don't even taste the crust your first few bites of a piece. The service was good, nothing special or bad there. The decor is trendy but comfortable. What would keep us from going back is the bill. 4 people, 4 pizzas and no drinks, $67.
There are much better values for pizza geeks out there than Pomo.
BEST OF BORGOTA. What a GREAT addition to the Borgota and surrounding area!! I have lived here long enough to remember all of the tourist traps that have occupied (and some still do) the Borgota and around it. A tourist would be LUCKY to stumble into Pomo. Pizza that is so delicious you want to order another to go, because you will wake up craving it. The interior is a little non descript and a tad too bright, but the rest is ALL good!!
Pizza Rules. How fortunate we are that Stefano Fabbri, owner of the new Pomo Pizzeria in the Borgata, is a pizza fanatic. He is obsessed with the authenticity of his Napoletana style pizza - so much so that his restaurant will be vetted by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana at the end of the month. There's a lengthy set of rules to be followed: specific imported tomatoes and cheeses, the proper kind of flour, the dough must be shaped to a certain size (12 -14 inches) and thickness after a particular rising time. You get the idea. Fabbri has an imported wood burning brick pizza oven that heats to a blistering 950 degrees and cooks the pizza in 90 seconds. It's smoking hot coming out of the oven, which gives the toppings time to meld to perfection.
There's something you have to understand and be open to experiencing in this crust. It's thin and light as a feather, but what most of us are not used to is that it's slightly moist in the center, not crispy. That's because one of the above rules says that the crust must be foldable. Stefano says that after you've tried it two or three times, even die-hard crispers will be converted I say that it's possible to enjoy both crusts. The one concession made to American tastes is in the variety of toppings. Traditionally the pie is made only with tomato, oregano or basil, mozzarella di bufala, garlic and oil, but 17 varieties of pie are offered here - though for sure you won't find pineapple and Canadian bacon. Also available are some appetizers and salads. We had an antipasti platter with meats and cheeses, sliced on an imported hand-cranked slicer. I learned that if an electric slicer is used the blade becomes hot enough to start to cook the prosciutto. There's a soup and pasta of the day, five paninis, and some amazing desserts made in-house daily by a well-known local pastry chef.
Pomo occupies the space formerly used by Thai Thai. It's done up simply in dark browns and white, with a floor to ceiling mural of Naples on the back wall. The bar, with a selection of Italian wines, and the open kitchen takes up about a third of the space, while banquettes, tables and chairs (somewhat crowded together in European fashion) uses the rest. Patio dining is available. Our server was delightful and efficient although I have read some complaints about the service at peak hours. This is not a restaurant for the faint-of-wallet. Our antipasto, pizza, and molten lava cake came to about $40 without tax or tip. But believe me, it was worth every penny. YOU'VE GOT TO TRY THIS PLACE. Like I said, pizza rules!!
Great place!. The minute you walk in the door the aroma's overtake you. The food is great and service is perfect. I suggest trying this place. It's worth it.
Good pizza though they need to cook it a little longer. The middle was a little under done. On the website they mention that is the true Napoli way, but I think that is an excuse. Good service and prices, Just cook the pizza a minute longer
Loved It!. Been to many pizzeria's around US including athentic neapolitan pizza places. This one is fantastic. This place was modern, comfortable, friendly and they backed it up with a high quality product. Will definately go back.
Pizza that is absolutely faithful to its Neapolitan roots with the VPN certification to prove it. Come for the pizza but stay for the affable owner, Stefano, and their amazing desserts, start with the Torta Della Nonna.
The thing I love most about Neapolitan style pizza is that I never walk away with a “brick” in my stomach…the dreaded “I just ate pizza” feeling. ...Neapolitan style pizza is so light and satisfying, you’ll never look at pizza the same way again!! The lay of t
We have been hearing the buzz about Pomo for months now but have not been able to visit and sample the Verache Pizza Napoletana because Mrs. P Chef has been on a Gluten-Free diet for 4 months now (as a way to try and combat headaches). She unreasonably requests that we eat at places where she can find a filling, satisfying Gluten-Free Meal. She even phoned Pomo in advance in December 2010 to see if they had any Gluten Free Pizzas, but being true to the ancient traditions requires gluten in the pizza dough. I am a lover of tradition as you can tell from the posts about what James Madison or Thomas Jefferson ate here or there and was dying to try authentic Neopolitan pizza. I am not against modern items either, in general if it is good, I like it, but there is a special place in my heart for the foods of our ancestors. Perhaps Mrs. P Chef's headaches stem from an insistent husband but she gamely tagged along (as did our friends Steve and Debbie). Mrs. P Chef had a nic
The interior of Pomo is simple, even Spartan, with clean lines, dark wood, and an open kitchen. A large photograph of a typical Neapolitan street complete with Vespas and hanging laundry fills a whole wall,
This was a beautiful restaurant in Scottsdale which was really pretty. We ordered a few pies. Only one was sort of photogenic which was the Bianca. Which was white pizza, proscuitto and house made mozzarella. They serve the delicious pizza with a crushed red pepper oil for the crust. Wood fired pizza really is my favorite of all pizza. So delicious and light. Their crust was exceptionally delicious. Crisp outside and fluffy inside crust. Below is the Profitterol which was: Cream Puffs Filled with Chantilly Cream and Chocolate Topped Mousse. Really delicious. The chocolate mousse was delicate and not too sweet. Profitterols were really good. Pat had the Semifreddo Di Mandorle which was: Traditional Italian Dessert Term for "Half Cold", Very Light Cold Mousse Topped with Amaretto Cookies. This was wonderfully simple but a bit too almond-y for me. Phil had the MILLEFOGLIE Layered Puff Pastry: (thousand leaves) with Pastry Cream and Flavored with Amarena Fabbri ( Wild Cherry). I had a bite
Pizza is amazing the best thing at here to check it out. Everything else I tried was great too but only eggplant Parmesan is super oily. Service was great both times. Will be back for sure
The pizzas at this place are simply amazing! They've got to be one of my favorite pizza spots in Phoenix. The service was good, although it was a tad slow even when the restaurant wasn't too crowded. I also tried the lasagna, which was delicious, though it had slightly burnt edges. Another cute feature was that they had half of the restaurant dedicated to selling gelato. Overall, a solid option for pizza in the Valley!
Great Food… my favorite is still the pizza! Very authentic pizza, reminds me of Naples pizza. Anytime I get a craving of Italy, I head here with my family.
While our service wasn’t amazing (waited for a table far longer than we were told while there were tables empty for quite some time), the food 100% made up for it. It came out quickly and tasted SO. GOOD. And was worth the wait.
We just returned from Naples and Sicily, and this neopolitan pizza is as close to having pizza in Naples as you can get in Arizona. Good service, nice atmosphere, and delicious pizza. Try the pomo, and Burritella frito misto was good also. Don't forget Gelato too! The pistachio and marina cherry are favorites.
I have been coming to Pomo for the past 5 months, on a very regular basis. My favorite place is at the bar section, but, all the other restaurant spots are lovely. The delicious food at Pomo is mouthwatering good! What really stands out, though…is the AMAZING staff: Bianca, Cody, Peter, Chantal, Corey, Mia, Shawna….. and so many, many more. They all work very hard, have a great attitude, make everyone feel welcome & nothing is ever too much trouble for them. It’s truly a family atmosphere 😊! It’s my “Cheers” place 🤩.
Grazie Mille Stefano for creating this beautiful spot in Scottsdale!
There was a recent article that stated "the best pizzerias in the continental United States". Arizona had two restaurants that came up and Pomo was one of them and I can see why. The pizza was light, airy, and fresh.
Wonderful place, amazing food and service. Great, great homemade dishes, you can taste it. Highly recommended...Enjoy! They have the games as well with very cold beer...
Place was super busy, but we were able to be seated ahead of our reservation. Waitress was friendly and attentive without hovering. Appetizers (Caprese & Forno Bread) were ordered and arrived at the table in 3 minutes. Mozzarella tasted very fresh and the bread was delicious.. We sat next to the brick oven and watch the chef churn out the pies one after another. Our margharita pizza was hot and the crust was incredible. Mrs. bBP ordered the Affogata and devoured it. Definitely will be back.
So I was dragged to an event across town by the Mrs. to Pomo Pizzeria for an event of theirs introducing a mobile pizza truck. The Piaggio Ape ( a mobile oven pizza truck pictured). The pizza here is one of the best I've ever had, you can taste the fresh ingredients used and the sauce has a pleasant kick.
The atmosphere is lively and welcoming with a bar, small Italian goodies sold and a great in house made gelato bar as well for your sweet tooth. If within a 20-30 min drive, more than worth coming! Had the pleasure of meeting Bekim, the Manager, an outgoing man with a great smile..
P. S. Dough is fantastic 🤩
