Went to the Fat Ox for an anniversary and couldn’t have been happier with the food and service that night. We were wished happy anniversary by front desk and the waiter before we even sat down. We were given complimentary champagne to toast the anniversary and then proceeded to eat an amazing meal. The waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and did a great job all night. The meal was unforgettable and so was the atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Wow. One of the best nights of our lives. The food was out of this world. Our servers were kind and fun and on top of it all. We had the best three hours of our entire weekend right there at the table. The Fat Ox is a very special place.

Absolutely standout food, wine, and service. I would give Fat Ox a sixth star if I could. Check them out - you will be glad you did. Definitely some of the best service and presentation in Scottsdale. Can't wait to go back and will definitely recommend to others. Our server, Canton, was fantastic and made the evening a very fun, memorable experience. :)

We started with the brussels sprouts salad which was fantastic. Then had a pasta dish and salmon. Everything had such delicious flavors. Our server, Amanda, was attentive and personable without being obtrusive. She always refilled our wine glasses and checked to see how we liked our food. We didn't have a reservation yet they were friendly and able to find a table for us. We will return and we recommend this restaurant to others.

Chef Matt Carter and front-man Brian Raab have knocked it out of the park...again. These are the guys who brought us The Mission (including the new location in Kierland), The House Brasserie, and had a hand in Zinc Bistro as well. These guys are at the absolute top of their culinary and hospitality games, and it shows the second you walk in any one of their doors, where you will be greeted by professional, friendly, and efficient hosts/hostesses, and then served well-crafted cuisine by true professionals who are knowledgeable and passionate about the food and drink they are serving, prepared and plated by a kitchen brigade that puts out consistently delicious and impeccably presented fare. Fat Ox is a successful attempt by this team to exceed their already exceptional standards, and it is fine dining at its best: upscale without feeling overwrought; mesmerizing without being ostentatious; and satisfying to every sense and every sense of the word. The cuisine is inspired by Italian classics, with a modern twist, and includes vegetarian, pasta, beef, poultry, and seafood entrees, along with a substantial offering of charcuterie, cheese, salads, and other lighter plates perfect for small meals and/or sharing as part of a more extensive dining experience. A nice dessert selection is also available, along with coffees and after-dinner liquers. There are also a number of interesting and tasty hand-pressed cocktails to choose from, including some interesting combinations that really work well. The extensive wine list is fabulous, presented by an experienced sommelier who can guide everyone from the occasional wine-sipping novice to the more experienced wine enthusiast, with equal aplomb (in our case, it was "Stephen", who set the table up with a wine flight to go with each course, including a palate-awakening rose in the salad and cheese course, a couple of reds of varying fullness and profile with the pasta plate and entree, and a sweet lambrusco to finish it off).

Excellent service! Canton was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the restaurant, wine, food, distributors, city history etc. He really made this top notch. The wine and food gets a full 5 stars as well. Everything from salads, pasta, swordfish, scallops, desserts were excellent. Nothing was “okay” or “good”, it was all amazing. What a treat!!

Loved our dining experience. Went for my birthday. Our server, Jennifer was knowledgeable and was a hoot! And the rest of the staff was great. Loved the table side Caesar Salad. Also had the 25 layer lasagne, filet, salmon and Tiramasu to top off the dinner! Well done Fat Ox!!

The entire staff gave undivided attention to our guests on Saturday night. Mark, Jennifer, Mel, Anthony, and Caesar were amazing. They made my wife's surprise birthday party truly special. The food was superb and I would highly recommend The Fat Ox for every occasion.

Loved this restaurant. We had an excellent server named Heather. Her knowledge of the menu and drink list was exception. Very well trained. We shared a Cesar Salad made table side. outstanding. we shared two pasta dishes. Amazing. We shared the whole brine chicken. Tender and mouth watering. The steak was delicious. We completed our dinner with Tiramisu which usual isn't my favorite. This became my new favorite. The decor of the restaurant was also nice. Gave me the feel of being in Manhattan. I can't wait to return.

My fiancé and I have been to FO twice now for dinner! Both times were equally amazing and memorable! We had friends come in town and asked us to take them to the best restaurant in Phoenix and of course Fax OX immediately came to mind. Thank you to Brian and his staff for an amazing culinary experience.

The hostesses were ready with a friendly, sincere greeting. The storefront glazing allows for good light and a great open feel. Their air conditioning was blowing quite ferociously but the staff offered to adjust it without hesitation. The bartenders were a highlight. Interactive, positive and talented. Will made us a few excellently shaken Grapefruit Basil Martinis. We ordered the charcuterie tray at the bar before heading to the dining table. The meats and cheeses were of the highest quality. The dining room was lively (some may say a tad loud) and the service was excellent. The food was unique, fresh, expertly prepared and rich but not overly heavy. I may book another flight just for a serving of the 25-layer ‘zag and the amaretto gelato. Absolutely delicious!

The food and service was amazing! The place is noisey but this is the energy that makes this a hot spot. If you prefer a quite dinner request the patio. Salmon, pasta, and deserts were delicious.

Exceptional food, beautiful dining area and bar, excellent service. Table side Caesar salad was prepared perfectly. Nice size to share. We tasted 3 different pastas-all very flavorful. My salmon was cooked perfectly. My husband loved the short ribs. 2 sides - mushrooms and grilled asparagus. Would order both again. Dome shaped chocolate desert was delicious. Intense chocolate flavor. One of my new favorite restaurants in town.

The best modern Italian restaurants in Scotsdale that I've ever had. Richie, our waiter, was awesome! Can't wait to go back!

This was my favorite meal during our recent trip to Arizona! Our server made great recommendations and the food was amazing! They also have a fantastic wine selection even by the glass. I thoroughly enjoyed my glass of En Route by Far Niente. We also shared all of our dishes and left very satisfied. We had the Caesar salad and were pleasantly surprised with how much the fried capers added to the salad. Now, I must try this at home. Next up, veal meatballs served on polenta. They were incredibly moist and flavorful. Cacio e peppe was perfection and my favorite of the evening! And, finally we ended with the scallops which were also perfectly prepared. Hats off to the chef! I highly recommend if you're visiting!

9.1/10 - It’s odd for me to say “the best meatballs I ever had were in Scottsdale, Arizona” but here we are. The veal meatballs are phenomenal. This was easily the best meal I had on my trip. I made a mistake ordering off the happy hour menu only instead of dabbling more on the regular menu. The margarita and old fashioned were very good as well. Would LOVE to come back.

While visiting Scottsdale this week I dined at fat ox for dinner. I immediately loved the atmosphere and it had a great bar, so I sat down. The servers were very friendly and helpful in making menu suggestions. I was offered a drink in under a minute of sitting down, which was amazing, because almost every seat at the bar was taken. I ordered a dirty martini, glass of red wine and the grilled Calabrian shrimp to start. Even though the shrimp are grilled, they come out chilled! That’s something I wasn’t expecting so know that going into ordering. They were flavorful but have quite a kick to them, and no one explained that to me when ordering, so make sure you like spicy food when ordering. Thought they were fresh tasting, they were nothing to write home about and I probably wouldn’t rush back to enjoy them. Next I ordered the garganelli truffle pasta, which was a recommendation from my server. I love truffle anything, but unfortunately the dish was way too salty and there wasn’t enough truffle flavor. The pasta was cooked well, however. Again I wouldn’t run back to order. My favorite dish of the night was actually their homemade focaccia which was served with some yummy homemade butters. While I enjoyed the evening out, I didn’t love the food, but the excellent service and atmosphere made up for it.

By @iwanttobewhatieat @ilovefatox was BOMB. The photos are not my best work as the lighting was perfectly dim and I was trying to shove all the foods in my mouth. I HIGHLY recommend this establishment. The service was spectacular and the food mouth watering. The scallops melted in your mouth like butter, the house made pastas were so rich and decadent, the duck sausage pasta is everything. The Branzino for the evening was SEA BASS!! This is the place you need to eat in Scottsdale.

We chose Fat Ox for our 1yr anniversary dinner. Great menu. You order everything at the same time, then the food is brought out in courses. The meat and cheese board was top notch. We ran out of toppings and bread, before the meat ran out. (Usually the opposite is true, in my experience) We had pasta for the second course. Creamy. Buttery. Perfectly cooked pasta. My wife had the aged NY strip. Perfectly cooked. Great beef flavor from the aging process on high quality meat. I had the confit pork spare ribs, they just melted in my mouth. The crunch from the pistachios on top was a great touch. Perfectly balanced.

My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here and it was spectacular. The Caesar salad was perfect and the manhattans were made well. My partner got the short ribs and I got scallops, both of which were absolutely delicious. Our server, Rachel, was outstanding and brought us a gorgeous tiramisu for our anniversary. Excellent service and delicious food. Perfect for a special occasion. Highly recommend!

The Fat Ox is definitely worth trying if you would like a fresh look at prime steaks and pastas. It is not inexpensive but it's absolutely worth the price. The steaks are excellent quality and melt in your mouth. The fish is cooked to perfection and if you are a fish lover, this is a critical piece of the enjoyment of such a delicate item. The format of the meal is appetizer, course 1, course 2, dessert but you are free to mix and match as you like. I also like that the menu is one page and well organized. I know that sounds pedantic but I can't stand restaurants that have expansive menus because in my experience it diminishes their capability to be excellent. Fat Ox has a focused list of excellent dishes that stand out from the standard fare while maintaining a superb pallette of flavors. I highly recommend it in the general foodie, Italian or steakhouse class.

Our first time here and we'd go back. Loved the Appy meatballs! Service was friendly and attentive, but it did take quite a while to get our first cocktail. However, all the food was excellent, but don't expect your normal Italian food, it's just different. They have an excellent wine selection and we chose one we know and love, but could have gone for a great Italian, but maybe next time. We'll be back and thank you for accommodating our short notice for the reservation. (which I would recommend)
