Pizza by Pappas is a nice, clean pizza joint near the Federal courthouse in Scranton, staffed by a friendly staff. The place was nearly empty when we arrived on a Saturday night around 6:15 p.m., but there were quite a number of people coming in for takeout. Pappas is unique in that they only serve 10“ pan pizzas with a variety of toppings. This would serve well for someone very hungry or a couple looking for a light meal. The dough is fresh and tasty, with plenty of melted cheese, so there is really no reason to order extra. I also ordered pepperoni, which was very good. Give Pizza by Pappas a try. The establishment provides a relaxed setting, with a train chugging along on tracks located around the dining room near the ceiling.

5 years and I finally tried this place. Pizza is not conventional, a bit on the greasy side but is very tasty. Also I’m assuming the grease is from the pan used to “fry” the bottom. Veggies could be cooked more but can’t before pizza burns. Overall very tasty pizza and recommend trying. They do only offer 10” personal pizzas but they are very filling.

I've been eating Pizza by Pappas for a good chunk of my life and during my last trip to Scranton I grabbed some lunch, and some extras to bring home. The food still tastes fantastic, just like the first time I had it, and the service was quick and cheerful. By the time I finished a couple of games of pinball my order was ready & everything was packaged well. Upon arriving at my families for lunch the meal was both correct & still hot. The take-and-bake pizza I brought back to Philadelphia with me traveled well & finished cooking with no problem (400° for 5-10 minutes). Even without the pan it still keeps its signature taste.

It never disappoints me, I lived in PR and now in California, I come on vacation every 2 years and my first stop has to be this pizzeria.

Pappas is the 1st place I visit when I return to NEPA…even before seeing family. I know that sounds terrible but when you’re coming in from Arizona and you need real pizza that makes it pardonable. Can’t wait for next week…Pappas, here I come!
