Friendly owner greetings at entrance. Place is immaculate. Bathrooms were clean and tidy. They sell Coke products, a plus. Beer batter onion rings were pretty good, got the chili large dog. No slaw on the dogs π, π’ they don't have it. French fries are mashed potatoes shoestring fries π. Parking is on the street. Hopefully they will add crinkle fries π and coleslaw to the menu so I could change my review to a 5 βββββ. Pistachio milkshake is flavored, if Id of know I'd had a chocolate or vanilla.
But all in all the waitresses were very helpful and traded the fries to a cup of soup. So there are several cartoon pictures on the walls of locals that enjoy eating here. The pictures were created at the local newspaper, the locals sent their pictures to and are created, Neet idea π‘. Can you find the picture of the couple visiting today on the wall?
I like hitting off-beat local food. If you do too, then this fits the bill. They serve a small rectangle shaped burger (take that White Castle!) with onions, mustard and chili. If you want something different, they have a hot dog with chili, mustard, and onions. The fries are good and they can be had with several toppings. The service was pleasant, but I could tell that they are more accustomed to people who know that you just grab a table and they'll come to you and who know what they serve. The walls are covered with drawings of people. Are they famous? Maybe....maybe not. They're famous enough to be on the wall which is more than I can say for myself.
Very cozy semi-below grade eatery. I live the black/white tile floor! Just passing through Scranton. I like to check out local restaurants. I got a Texas foot-long & onion rings. The Coney dog (Coney sauce, not chili) did not ring bells for me. But the rings seemed to be hand made. Very good!

My opinion Coney Island has pretty decent corn dogs hot dogs, friendly service, clean atmosphere, and they are pretty accurate on time when it comes to picking up your food if they tell you 10 minutes within 10 minutes your food is ready and prepared. The pricing is okay, for me the most part some things are a little high. Also the milkshake I believe it should be a little bigger for the price you paid for it.
Great little spot for lunch as you wander through historic Scranton.
Come here every year for my birthday. Best hot dogs and fries in the area. Would highly recommend dining in as the food gets soggy quick when it's takeout.
