I try to get over to this joint for Brunch whenever I am in town. The food is good, and the bloody marys are some of the best that I have ever had. It is always full of diners, but the waits are never more than 10 or 15 minutes, and the wait staff are welcoming and friendly folks. It is rare that I want to give more than a 5 star rating, but the folks at the Athenian consistantly blow me away the quality they bring to every patron on every visit. Thank you for being awesome!!
We stopped in Seattle on our way cruising and visited pikes market and Athenian Seafood Restaurant. The chowder was delicious and the fish and chips was one of the best I’ve had. Everything was so fresh. The waitresses were friendly and very helpful. I recommend this restaurant. It’s very family friendly too.
It was amazing everyone was nice from the host to the server reasonably priced probably the best view down there loved my experience
This is an excellent restaurant. We were very satisfied with our Fish-n-Chips & Clam Chowder. Beautiful view & great service. Highly recommend !
Good old town atmosphere, right in the mist of Pike Place. We got a nice window view overlooking the piers and big wheel. The seafood was great, my husband is allergic to shellfish, so he ordered a steak, but it was bland and dry :-/
So go for seafood.
And the Clam Chowder was amazing!
Delicious calamari. Seafood bowl & plate of clams. I would eat here again & I’m from CT. I know good seafood!
Hands down the best happy hour in town, the spicy tiger prawns, the muscles, the fish and chips basket and drinks... I loved every minute of it. They have a lovely view as well
Excellent food... Had the PNW salmon and was cooked to perfection! Interior decoration, ocean view and the “Sleepless in Seattle” ambiance add to the experience - a definite plus.
excellent place .would definetly recommend it to other people since im leaving the area.
As a local this is one of my favorite places. It has the best veiws of the waterfront. Happy hour is well worth it.
A perfect seafood dining experience in the heart of Pike Market. There was a 10-minute waiting time to be seated for dining, but it was well worth it as "Good Things Come to Those Who Wait."
There was the option of not waiting if you wanted a pub experience (especially during happy hour) or if you were comfortable to be seated by the front stool style seating near the kitchen with views of the chefs at work.
The halibut stuffed crab was delicious. The views by the window tables were superb over Seattle harbor. Make sure you take time to read the history recorded on photo frames on the wall. Great customer service made a perfect dining experience. We will go back again & highly recommend this restaurant.
Lovely little restaurant in Pike Place Market with views of the bay (and bits of a parking lot, lol). Lots of tables lined by the windows or facing windows, so almost every table has a view.
We came in for a spot of breakfast on a Sunday and were seated by the downstairs windows. We ordered a clam chowder bread bowl and the pancake short stack - both were pretty good.
My partner says it’s one of the better clam chowders he’s had. The pancakes were fluffy and nice enough.
In spite of being in the market, the restaurant is pretty quiet which was surprising.
Great place for breakfast.
Views are great.
Service was outstanding.
Seafood scramble was delicious.
Clam Chowder could use big pieces of clams. Very creamy.
You can get a genuinely beautiful view of the waterfront from any seat in this restaurant. The service is friendly and the restaurant has two plaques indicating where Tom Hanks and Rob Reiner sat in Sleepless in Seattle, which is pretty cool. The food was okay, I got the fish sandwich which I think was the wrong choice. My partner got the ravioli with prawns, which was much better than what I got!
Delicious food, friendly staff. Very busy but it moves quickly. My wife had the fish sandwich which she enjoyed. I ordered the seafood sauté, never had it and I’m in love. The food was amazing. We shared a clam chowder and finished it off with some cokes! Will return next time we are in Seattle!
Great atmosphere for Puget Sound views from the heart of Pike Place Market. The wait is pretty quick on a busy weekend as the restaurant is quite cavernous inside. 21+ only bar area. The chicken sandwich was a bit lacking but since this is a seafood restaurant I can't hold that against them. Server was a bit wishy washy. Said they would bring water and never did, didn't check on our table once. Prices are high, but then this is in a touristy area. Good selection of beer and local wine.
Great atmosphere during Sunday brunch.
Food to appeal to ages 6-40.
Got oysters to try after stopping in the fish market next door and seeing all the fresh seafood. Did not disappoint and they disappeared before we could grab a photo. Even out 6 year old enjoyed them (he loves sardines).
We got seated upstairs and had a great view of the water.
Loved it there, it was our first meal in Seattle, and it went beyond our expectations. The atmosphere, and the terrific view added extra points to the experience.
Would absolutely recommend creamy and comforting clam chowder. Famous fishwich that goes with fries and de-li-cious sauce. Mussels and clams are super fresh and perfectly seasoned. Also wide offer of local beer - I had the Red Racoon (not going to lie, mostly picked it because of its name) and it was fantastic.
Service is genuinely great, we were taken care of, always for what we needed.
I can only recommend to stop by.

First time in Seattle, Washington, and the first stop was the Public Market Center! On my agenda were the mussels, fish & chips, and clam chowder! The clam chowder and mussels were both one of the best seafood I've ever had. If I'm ever here again, I'm definitely coming back here!
1. Baked brie appetizer.
2. Mussels (favorite)
3. Halibut (fish & chips)
4. Salmon burgerm
5. Clam chowder. (Favorite)

I had the seafood bowl and it was AMAZING!!!! That will be what I order on all future visits.
Super great food and amazing views of Elliott Bay. This place is a must when visiting the Pike Place Market.

Overall cool experience.
Not top place therefore I think it's a little overpriced, yet good food!
A bit crowded seats for my taste.
But, good food!
Great spot in the Seattle Market area! We had a window table with a magnificent view. Our server, Melvin, was outstanding! We ordered the halibut fish and chips, and it melted in our mouths - so good!!! To be honest, the price we paid was less than other places advertised, which really surprised me based on location. The Athenian is a must stop if you're in the area and have a hankering for delicious fish and chips!
Really great spot for happy hour for locals and tourists both. Good food (especially fish and chips), good beer, and good prices at a classic Pike Place Market institution with wonderful views of Elliott Bay. My only qualm is that they close way too early now; they used to have much better hours.
If you visit Pike Place Market you NEED to eat at the Athenian Seafood Restaurant. We sat upstairs and were able to enjoy their delicious food and stunning panoramic views.
We had their clam chowder which is one of their signature dishes, it never disappoints. Served super hot, the soup is thick and creamy and served in a delicious and fluffy bread bowl. We also had the calamari and it was perfectly cooked, with a crispy, golden brown coating that was not greasy. The calamari was tender and not rubbery at all.
The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. All the staff was awesome, making it an even better experience
This place has and will continue to be a must every time we visit from Las Vegas. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed
Great Seattle must visit. Enjoy market at Pike place then good food at quaint restaurant. We may have forgotten Sleepless in Seattle, but this place is still charming. I really like the unique harbor views from the second level. All the back windows are interesting.
Was on a tour...this restaurant was fantastic. Great callimari...crab stuffed red snapper. Good coffee.
Nestled by the picturesque waterfront, I ventured to the Athenian Seafood Restaurant, captivated by its silver screen fame. Tom Hanks' choice in Sleepless in Seattle did not disappoint. First, I indulged in a piping hot cup of clam chowder, its velvety texture and rich flavors taking me on a savory journey. The Fish and Chips, featuring flaky cod fish enveloped in a crispy batter, was a true delight.
Opting for the Sautéed Assorted Seafood, I relished in a medley of succulent salmon, plump mussels, tender fish, briny clams, and juicy prawns, all intertwined with earthy mushrooms. Settling into my second-floor indoor seating, I marveled at the breathtaking view of the majestic ferris wheel. Despite the dinner hour, the sun still adorned the horizon, casting a golden hue upon the glistening sea.
The Athenian Seafood Restaurant embodies the essence of coastal charm, delivering a delightful culinary experience. From the renowned clam chowder to the tantalizing seafood dishes, each bite immersed me further into a world of flavors. Combined with the enchanting ambiance and stunning vistas, my visit was nothing short of a memorable seaside escape.
Wonderful visit to Pilkes Market Place. We walked into the Athenian Seafood restaurant. We were greeted and promptly seated. We had an amazing view of the harbor. Great vibe, fantastic food, and great drinks. Our waiter ( didn’t get his name) was a bit of a pill. (Bad day maybe) Aside from the service…….. It was awesome! Would definitely go back.
Went in for a glass of wine and mussels. Mussels tasted very fresh and delicious. Food was prompt and hot. View was beautiful. The place seems a bit worn inside and needs some updating. Service was friendly but a bit distanced and he seemed distracted by the game vs service. Overall pretty good and would recommend for an app with a view but wouldn’t stay for a full meal.
