Came for restaurant week and we will definitely be back! Seafood and sushi is super fresh! We had the best waiter so we couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience! This may just be one of our regular spots, wish you had a location of the Eastside!!!

This is a first rate restaurant and arguably my favorite place to dine in Seattle.

Really good real Japanese food! They have pretty authentic and traditional plates and sushi rolls, try the Black Dragon. They have courses that are delicious, enjoy anyone and at last the chestnut creme brûlée, it’s unbelivable good :)

Service excellent, food beyond fresh, sake on point. Non pretentious environment. Prices great. Fantastic first time experience.

Wonderful sushi and very friendly and helpful staff. The Hamtastic and Golden Dragon Rolls were our favourites. Book ahead like we did to guarantee a table. Would recommend

Came here twice. Both times the sushi were all really fresh and the appetizers are all unique here (none are your typical ones that you can name). Also great service. Only cons is a year ago the omakase came with real wasabi while rolls come with horseradish wasabi but this year it was all horseradish wasabi. Also this restaurant is not kid friendly. No real high chair and no diaper changing stations in the bathrooms.

Incredible sushi of course, but if you have a chance for the oyster, definitely get those - you won't regret it. The interior is crisp and warm. We tried almost everything on the menu. Also got to see Chef Shota drop in at the bar for a bite, which was pretty exciting for this fangirl. The only thing was that the wait for food was a bit long (each time we put in a sushi order), I think it was a busy night, but we weren't in a hurry so still had a very enjoyable experience.

Had omakase sushi take out for a friend's birthday and it was amazing. The Toro was absolutely buttery.

The sushi was real good and real good for the price! However, the atmosphere wasn't amazing (though looking at the chef seats it could have been - reserve there if atmosphere and service are high priority for you). The waiter was knowledgeable, but we definitely got not as good service as some of the folk who looked more traditional (we have dyed hair, etc). We did not like the sake selection when we were there, but the lychee margaritas are incredible!!

Update: I had my birthday dinner, also took my day for her birthday dinner. We ordered “five”. We both liked chawan mushi, deluxe sushi, and lychee lemonade, and Yuzu panna cotta. The service was excellent. The bill includes 20% service fee which I have no issues. However, it is explained in a piece of paper as “ living wage charge” which I did not think it was really appropriate. It should simply say “ service fee”. When you run your business, why don’t you want to pay living wage to your employees in the first place? What is wrong with paying their employees living wage? This note gave me a bad taste. Quality Japanese food. One of the best in town. Everything is tasty. Great back ground music and service. My favorite place for sure.

This is one of the best sushi places in Seattle. They have definitely outgrown their space, it's hard to find space and takes really long to get your order. Still, the sushi is somewhat worth the wait.

Hands down the best sushi I've ever had. Try the geoduck - you won't regret it. Everything we had was incredible, from the Black Dragon Roll, to the halibut tempura, to the spider roll. Perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. And our server, Edward, gave us super helpful tips on how best to order. We will most definitely be back.

Very good food and service. I like the black cod with miso the best. Can’t describe its taste with words, just try it! The five course menu also has great value. Though they make steamed egg counts as one course, but the other will also make you stuffed.

Great sushi! Pretty tasty and fresh. Love that they have some specific fantastic nigiri pieces that isn’t just fish on rice. For example, the scallop is seared and topped with yuzu juice. Takeout was a great experience. There were signs all of the front door to call into the restaurant and they came out with my order. Didn’t even need to enter the restaurant. Still isn’t as great as places like Wataru, where the chef carefully micro scores each nigiri piece, but this place is close to the top of my list for sushi.

Really good sushi. The service was pretty impeccable. Really elegant space with lovely plate presentation. I had the black dragon roll and a sushi combo. It was all well executed and clearly of the highest quality. My only gripe is that it felt like something was missing? Maybe in the rice. Some of the nigiri pieces were underwhelming especially given the freshness of the fish. Overall it was great. Just lacking a little oomph.

Some of the best sushi I've ever had. The Rosanna roll was superb and the pistachio balanced sake was nice

I would say it is quite a bit over priced for the food. The service quality and the restaurant vibe is unquestionable. I do recommend the Hokkaido uni sushi here and the chef special black cod belly sushi, which is their equivalent for unagi. The server said because of eel is in danger so they do not serve unagi. Seared scallops are pretty good too. Overall I recommend for celebration but not for sushi enthusiasts.

Incredible experience. They grow as much as they can on their rooftop garden. The American Unagi is something special that you can’t easily find here in Seattle. The homemade mochi and matcha ice cream top off an exquisite meal.

Alex was a phenomenal and attentive server. We got the 3 course tasting menu and our favorites were probably the starters. I would definitely recommend the oysters and tuna with mustard greens—unreal! Sushi was tasty as well, next time, I think I would just select the nigiri along with guidance from our server. Desserts were great—the crispy mochi is very tasty! I want to try more of the prepared dishes next time! Wine was lovely as well. Overall great time and would recommend! (Thanks Kenji Lopez Alt for this rec.)

Came here for a special anniversary dinner and we did the omakase experience. Pretty small restaurant and typical omakase bar seating. Service: service was good but not great. It felt like I had only seen our waitress once or twice over a period of 2.5 hours. My tea was empty for a good portion of the meal while looking around while I am totally okay with that, paying that much (in my eyes) should warrant better service. Atmosphere: friendly, casual, nothing snoooty which was appreciated. Chef was very nice and concerned with us throughout the meal. Food: food and quality was good. Very solid sushi and it all tastes very fresh. However, I do wish it was a bit more creative but maybe that is not what they are going for which is fine. If you are looking for fresh, traditional sushi, this is a great spot but I also don't think you need to pay for omakase to get that.

One of the best quality sushi I've had so far in Seattle and the prices are only slightly more than an average Japanese restaurant here. The service has been excellent both times I've gone and they actually know the menu well. I wish they had a parking lot since street parking around dinner time is super tough (free street parking as of Dec 2019). Otherwise, Sushi Kappo Tamura is a perfect spot for a date night or special occasion.
