Great chicken!!! If you want a spicy (or not) chicken sandwich this is a good place to get it. Great crust on that chicken!! Flavor is on point, perfect bread (sweet and soft and not thick) and a few sauces to choose from and they all are delicious. Tenders are 🔥 too.
Update: This place has now moved inside Benbow Room. There is a small door where they place all online orders! Still the best!
My fav friend chicken sandwich spot in Seattle. I have been on a fried chicken sandwich hunt and have tried several spots in Seattle in 2021 but nothing beats Maono. I have tried their chicken sandwiches at the UVillage location and I am so happy to have then close to home in West Seattle. The flavors, taste juicy chicken, pickles and toasted bun all tastes the same - Delicious. We also ordered the kimchi mac and cheese, soam musubi, side of corn, fries and brown garlic rice. Loved all the sides except the side of corn which was okay. The sandwich was amazing with perfect crunch, juicy, well seasoned fried chicken and a spicy sauce. You can add spice levels to your sandwich - naked, mild, medium, hot and x hot. I always enjoy the hot sandwich but thats cos I am a spice lover. My husband and friends stick to medium spice levels in their sandwich and enjoy it. Customer service was great. Ambience at this West Seattle location is also great. Be careful, even though this place is open until 10pm, the kitchen is open only until 9pm and the bar is open until 10pm. Highly recommend trying out any Maono location while in Seattle.
Great Hawaiian joint. The food has great presentation and the portions are decent. The lighting was a little dimmer than I like. The fried chicken is light and not greasy. I read a lot about the fatty saimin and looked forward to it, however, it was slightly disappointing. Although it had a great broth it was not bold enough. The taste is quite delicate compared to international chains such as Santouka or Danbo. The steak was absolutely delicious as it was cooked to perfection. The meat was tender and juicy. I would definitely go order it again and again.
I enjoyed my visit to Ma’ono. I’m not in West Seattle very often, but I found myself there on a Friday night and it was still open at 9pm so I visited. I’ve been to the window they have at U Village and enjoyed it, but had not yet visited the original location. There were a bunch of tables available as the main dinner rush was on its way out. When we left there were many more tables open. The restaurant does feel a little Hawaiian without being kitschy but overall it’s contemporary and rather dimly lit. The waitstaff were capable and helpful. I ended up sharing a mild spicy fried chicken sandwich, Ma’ono burger, and an order of fries. Everything tasted great. The fried chicken was moist and had a nice crust on it. The fries were tasty as well – nicely fried and not too greasy. My favorite item was the burger. The ground chuck had a deep beefy flavor and the toppings were tasty too. My favorite part of the burgers were the Hawaiian sweet roll buns. They’re similar to the one’s you’ll find in stores, but they are bigger to accommodate burgers. I had a good meal and would return.
Excellent service and value! Dining in was great and everything comes boxed up, so you can be taken home afterwards. I don’t have any complaints about that if it cuts down on serving time and everything made to go.
Everything is definitely priced well and lots of food! More than expecting.
Some of the most amazing fried chicken you’ll have in Seattle (yes it’s better than that local fried chicken shop that has become a local chain). Ma’ono as Hawaiian and other Asian inspired flavors to is menu to compliment the fried chicken. Me and my friend ordered the whole bird, which is 10 pieces and we finished the whole thing, along with our Mac and Kimcheese and sweet rolls. Absolutely yummy and definitely will come back soon
The food was good. A chicken sandwich and a 2 pc chicken combo. The chicken sandwich wasn't very crispy but still good. The 2 pc was split 1 tender 1 drummy. The tender wasn't crispy but the drumstick was. Bad night for tenders or they sat too long. Spam masubi was good. Overall pleasant experience.
Nice restaurant that serves Hawaiian fusion dishes. Their most well known item is fried chicken, but be mindful that you need to reserve one in advance when you make a reservation. Breakfast includes dishes like loco moco and spam musubi in addition to the fried chicken. Great for families too.
Very tasty food for brunch and the best options among our orderings are the fried chicken and the warm fresh sweet rolls. The sweet rolls are definitely highly recommended. Reasonable “Seattle” price. The staff seem overall worn with the amount of customer flow and taking care of multiple tables at one time. Better management needed.
This spot is definitely a must go to, I know it's a little on the outskirts in west Seattle and that drive can be tedious especially with the bridge bring closed. But the chicken i mean look at the picture and how much it glosses and the drinks were definitely amazing had to get two of them. I liked the glass they were served in. The interior design is very nice, a little dark on the lighting but a nice spot to enjoy a good chicken sandwich and islander drinks after work. Check out this spot if you're ever in the area I know I'll stop by again for sure
good fried chicken is something that's more of an art than science, and it's very easy to slip and wind up with something soggy, tasteless, or heavy. This place does none of those things, and delivered a fried chicken was crispy and tender and full of flavor. Major bonus points for the service as well, which was efficient and fast even on a slammed Sunday afternoon. The only knock I have on the place was the $9 side of macaroni and cheese that was more salt than spice, though it was plentiful and could have been its own meal.
Pretty decent lil joint. I went for the chicken and Spam sushi and the Spam sushi does NOT disappoint. The chicken was so so, but just too crunchy and not what we were expecting. The ramen bowl was pretty average. I'd recommend this place for happy hour (5pm-6pm, -Thursday-Monday)
Six things:
- Gosling Ginger Beer: out of four restaurants in two days, this was the best sparkling drink I had. Super great, not too sweet
- French Toast: I took this home and finished it for dinner but this meal tastes as pretty as it looks. Completely worth it with six/seven pieces of the softest french toast you'll ever have
- Biscuits and gravy: To be honest, this was more of a mini meal than a side. I was almost full after finishing this wonderful biscuit and the gravy can be eaten like soup after. 10/10 would order again
- Fried Chicken sandwich: the egg was perfect. I have never seen a more perfectly done sunny side egg. Just wow me. Literally wow.
- Potatoes: You get like 20 of these diced and tangy tasting potatoes with a side of sauce and gosh darnmit if we didn't have our main meals this would have been finished. The best freaking potatoes.
- Malasadas: order these. Just do it. Who knew you could make apples taste so good.

Finally checked this place out tonight. On the weekends we see lines out the door waiting for brunch, lunch and dinner! We were lucky tonight because there was no line and plenty of open tables. I liked that they asked if we were celebrating anything special, wonder if they do anything for birthdays?
I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich (mild) and potato mac salad. I got mild because the "burn warning" on the menu scared me off, but I like spicy food! I thought this sandwich was pretty good. The Kings Hawaiian role was good, but not sure it holds up for a sandwich, the bottom was almost non existent. Not soggy just very smooshed and small. The chicken was perfectly cooked and crispy. The sauce almost tasted a little barbecue-y. The mild definitely was not spicy. Had a VERY tiny hint of heat, though it did linger. I would get this sandwich again but get Medium. The pickled daikon was awesome! The potato mac salad was OK. It just tasted like mayonnaise to me. It needed some acid, crunch, some mustard and surprisingly some salt and pepper.
My boyfriend got the quarter fried chicken (white meat) with chili sauce and a side of fries. Those fries!! Delicious. So good. The chicken was super tender, juicy and perfectly fried. A little salty for my taste but my boyfriend loves his salt and was super happy with his meal.
I got a glass of wine which you could tell the bottle had been open for a while.
If I could I would give 3.5 stars. Definitely not a 3 star place but not quite a 4 star either.
We will be going back for sure! I want to try brunch there and also try their poke and their corn!
This place is legit. We tried the mild fried chicken, the Mac and cheese, the okra, and the hot chicken sandwich with kimcheese. I can't say anything bad. The best meal we have had in a long time. Our waiter, Bruce was fantastic. If you are in West Seattle, you must come here.
The fried chicken is cooked in a much different way than you may be used to, but it is a delicious taste. The dipping sauce that comes with the chicken is unique as well, a little spicy but loaded with flavor. The loco Moco is a bit pricey but the meat is of higher quality than you normally would get. Not an everyday thing, but great when you want something nicer.
Please never change Ma'Ono. The perfect balance of light and heavy with a cold asian pear and beet salad with roasted sesame, and my favorite chicken sandwich. Don't underestimate the spice either! No refunds if you cannot handle it! The pickled daikon adds something really special. Best chicken sandwich in the city. No 🧢
The service was great!!! I noticed at least 15 chicken sandwiches were ordered and sadly I'm a vegetarian and couldn't try but I'm told they take 2 days to prepare it before it is served. YUM!!! They are very creative with the menu and as a non- meat eater I had plenty to choose from. Highly recommend!!! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾Oh and the drinks are good and strong 😁
Battery was crispy and pretty tasty. Medium hot-level was not too hot (but that's totally subjective).
$11 plus tax and tip for a sandwich with no sides or drink is a bit on the high side. Probably on the low side given the rent has got to be high in this shopping center.
Take note that it shares a location with the Giner Beer place...
Overall, recommended.
