Boat Bar is a nice place to celebrate or enjoy a meal of seafood and meats. The atmosphere is clean and inviting with a European feel. The food is a joy to try, I am finding some dishes are a little over seasoned but overall a very pleasant meal. I continue to come back and look forward to new dishes from the kitchen. Thanks
Great meal and good vibes at this Capital Hill stunner. Oysters were great as were all the salads. Fries were a standout - would def come back and try more off the menu.
Absolutely delicious! Their burger is the best burger I’ve ever had, I just wish it was offered in a bigger size. The drinks had an interesting twist as well which made them stand out from other restaurants, and the service was fantastic. Can’t wait to come back!
We walked in for Happy Hour on a Thursday and had no issue getting seated. This is definitely a place to get fresh oysters, a cocktail, and maybe a few small plates if you're interested.
I'll start by saying that the oysters were incredible. So fresh and generally delicious. The vibe inside was relatively chill/quiet which was nice, and aesthetically the white & turquoise played into a really pleasant ambiance.
We also tried the prawns dish and it just wasn't for us. It was a bit too savory and at that price per prawn, I would've much rather just gotten more oysters (especially during HH). They had lots of small plates that sounded good, so I'm sure there's something for everyone... but for premium prices, I'd prefer not to feel like the menu might be hit-and-miss. This came as a surprise/disappointment to me, as I have loved trying different Sea Creatures restaurants when in the Seattle area.
I know I referenced price above, but it is fair to note that premium experiences tend to come with premium prices.
Therefore, fresh (delicious) oysters come at market prices (as you'd assumed). For those wondering... my guess would be that their selection likely ranges between $4-6 per oyster (depending on what they're serving). Our Sippican oysters, for example, were on the higher end at $5 per ($4 with HH).
Their Happy Hour goes from Open (5pm) to 6pm, and offers $1 off oysters, beer, wine and house cocktails. This is DEFINITELY something to take advantage of if you plan to come to try a selection of their oysters, as the $1 off each oyster really adds up!
I'd come back - I just likely would stick to HH oysters and play it safe👌🏽
This is one of my favorite hang-out spots in the Capital hill area.
Great food, nice ambiance, and excellent service. It can be a great spot for a romantic date. Not cheap so expect to make a dent in your wallet.
Check them out if you are in the area.
Bottom line first: beautiful restaurant with tasty bites that are almost as satisfying to look at as they are to eat. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beautiful restaurant set atop Capitol Hill. The first thing you notice is the decor of the space. Stunning green and white tiles surround a marble bar with green bar stools. The space is gorgeous, and our waitress happily admits that many patrons simply stop inside to take photographs of it.
We started off with one of each oyster and locally made bread. Both of which were great. We then went with the fried fish skin. Obviously the most beautiful item on the menu. From there we tried the duck prosciutto. The smokey meat paired delightfully with the fatty olive oil and nutty pistachios. We finished our dinner off with the profiterole and canale.
Overall a great dinner. Would have like to have tried more of the garden and meat dishes but we got full too soon. I will eventually return, but I will likely try one of the other restaurants in the group first.
The food was amazing and the staff was even better. Everyone was extremely well versed in what oysters would best suit your personal pallet, and the staff surprised us by brining desert on the house!
Good French themed bar with yummy small plates.
The restaurants under the Sea Creatures brand certainly do not disappoint and Bar Melusine is no exception. We ordered a few drinks and ate our dinner here to try out much of the menu. We enjoyed the frites as they were fried to classic Belgium style and fully of flavor. I also enjoyed the lamb and oysters. The lamb tasted very much like pastrami, but combined with the aioli it was divine.
This is the best oyster selection in Seattle. However they source the oysters, they somehow just taste better here. The small plates are great, don't skip the beef tartare. The cocktails are fun, and the wine list is full of unique flavors. Especially the whites, full of unusual minerally french gems. Don't forget to ask for the house made hot sauce, have it with a side of fries!
So good! Lovely place to get a cute cocktail and not feel pressured to eat a full meal. Gorgeous small plate menu. Oysters are a la carte so you can try them one at a time or order a bunch of your fave. Pricey but feels appropriate. Great spot for a fancy first date: easy to find people and a casual but beautiful environment. Also excellent spot for meeting your girlfriends for happy hour after work, a solo date with just you and a book at the bar, or a first stop to bring a friend from out of town. Would recommend making reservations for parties over 2 people. Beautiful spot.
Graceful, friendly service exudes at this lovely spot. I always feel so comfortable at a Sea Creatures dining room, and I am always well taken care of. Went in for the burger, but got tempted by a small list of steaks being offered from next door. Clam dip was super tasty, but would have loved more pronounced clam flavor. Do not sleep on the bread pudding! DAMN!!!!
Amazing flavor combinations using fresh and seasonal ingredients in an airy, beautiful space! We had a geoduck dish with flavors that were incredibly well-balanced. The plates are small but are good for splitting with another person. It's pricey, but absolutely worth it!
One of my favorites restaurants in SEA. Renee Erickson, thank you!
The interior is bright and colorful. The service is excellent, far better than the service at Walrus and the Carpenter. I actually prefer Bar Melusine over Walrus. I think the food and scene is similar, but the service at Walrus is subpar.
At Bar Melusine, they’re menu constantly changes, but on their new burger is small and excellent. You can never go wrong with oysters or any of their seafood options.
We walked pass this place yesterday and decided to try out their desserts. We ordered their coffee flan and bread rum pudding. Both were delicious. Definitely will come back again.
A quite solid oyster & small-plate experience. The oyster bar highlights the local varieties and focuses on quality, so you can taste and compare the best oysters of the Pacific North-West. The atmosphere is rather quiet and relaxed, contrasting with the lively and noisy steakhouse Bateu, located in the connected space.
A friend and I stumbled upon Boat Bar because we suddenly decided that we were, and I quote, "looking for something fancy and sophisticated" while wandering Capitol Hill. I took one look at the menu, realized that I had no idea what half of it was, and happily wandered in to join the waitlist. When we arrived, most tables were already reserved and we were quoted a 15 minute wait time, and told that we would be texted once our spot at the bar was ready. After hanging outside for 20 minutes, we didn't get a text so we walked inside anyway and they immediately sat us. I suppose their software was acting up, which happens to the best of us!
Once seated we were offered a choice between sparkling and still water. I have never been given that option before, and having regular water referred to as 'still' really drove home the decadence of it all. The food here is served in a way that makes more sense for the whole table to share as opposed to everyone getting their own dish, which I absolutely loved. It wasn't nearly as expensive as I thought it would be either! Our server Brie (Bri?) was the perfect level of attentive. The food itself was incredible- They honestly served the best french fries and broccoli that I have ever tasted. I had no idea what steak tartare was and am pretty sure that I risked salmonella poisoning by eating it, I regret absolutely nothing.
Now here's the part that blew my mind.
While leaving, I accidentally left a bag at the restaurant from the shop that we had visited before dinner. The hostess ran *an entire block* to track me down and give it to me! That's some next level customer service and I appreciated it so much. I'm definitely coming back and making a reservation next time!
