Super, super solid indian place. Hard to find good Indian food in Seattle, and this is probably one of the better ones.
The butter paneer was our favorite. Naan a little too thick and not that fresh, but maybe just because we did take out.
Jalfreki also was delicious. Nice and sweet with a good curry kick.
Will definitely be back to try some more of the other curries. I will say they give way too much rice for how much curry there is.
Indian is one of my favorite cuisines so I guess it's safe to say I have tried a lot. Without a doubt, Kalia on Greenwood has become MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PLACE FOR INDIAN CUISINE....so much that if we are in town, we go at least once a week! Yes, it's that good! We have tried several dishes on the menu (and enjoyed them all) but we have discovered certain dishes that have become our favorites - Punjabi Vegetables Pakoras, Aloo Tiki, Chicken Mulligatawany (all 3 were the best I've had in Seattle) Tawa Chili, Special Tandoor, Saag Paneer (best I've had in Seattle) and one that's not on the menu, Rogan Josh (they have made the best version of this I have tried)! I think you get the point. Beyond the wonderful flavors, this place succeeds where many restaurants don't...consistency. We expect a certain standard here and they always deliver. Plus, if you like spicy, this is a place that is not afraid to go bold - if you want it. Almost as important as the food, is the friendly service by the family who owns and runs this place. We've gone there enough that they know what we want before we even have to say it, and we don't just feel like friends when we are there, but we feel like family. This place has a comfortable, unpretentious atmosphere, and we have shared this place with several friends. Give this place a try, and we're confident you'll love it as much as we do.
Stopped in for a weeknight dinner and sat ourselves down quickly. The server was very kind and nice we felt welcome. Just an FYI this place takes spice seriously - we did 4/6 level spice and it definitely packed the heat! Its a very simple interior (no AC).
Samosas - delicious and pipping hot! only comment is that they did not have the green mint chutney but they did have tamarind.
Aloo Gobi - the best aloo gobi I have had in Seattle. Finally an aloo gobi that has a saucier consistency! it was delicious.
Chicken tikka masala - generous portions of chicken in a delicious masala sauce.
Naan - it was too good, my only complaint is that I wish it was bigger like some of the other naan's in the Seattle area. No problem - we ordered another one.
We ordered chana bhatura and veg platter. The ambience might not be great but the food was above my expectations. Curteous staff, clean place, good menu.
Traditionally Modern Food
+4
We visited the restaurant in the evening so ordered snacks, sweet lassi, mango lassi, and coffee
Paneer pakoda and onion pakoda tasted so good but they were served without any sides. We asked them then they brought 3 sides. Not sure why it was not served at first.
Chana samosa was ok. They had tamarind chutney but Missed the sweet chutney flavor.
Sweet lassi and mango lassi tasted good. The portion size was too big. It was hard for an adult to finish it. They served mango lassi with ice cubes which we didn’t expect but when asked they replaced them immediately.
Ordered coffee but it was not Indian coffee. They served American-style coffee with cream. When we asked they replaced coffee with milk. It was ok
This is the best Indian food in Seattle! We have tried spots across the city, and nothing else comes close. Great for take out, but even better to eat in person. Helps us to pick the right dishes, So great.
Ordered multiple items on Uber eats. Excellent food. Every item was delicious! I’m surprised I didn’t know about this place despite it being near me. Priced reasonably too!
Great place to visit when we are back in USA.
Reminds me of my favorite place in Bangkok near the Ramada waterfront on the BKK water way.
Kalia's food continues to be excellent in style, traditional flavors and serving.
Back to Thailand - takecare
Everything was delicious, as always. We even ordered extra planning to have the leftovers. It was so good we still ate too much. We got the paneer butter masala, the lamb jalfrezi, and the chicken Tandoori. Also the garlic naan bread is always good. Definitely recommend!!
Great food. Kalia never disappoints when I want some authentic Indian food.
If you can handle it I suggest trying the level 6 spicy, if you dare.
We have been coming here for years and are always so happy with the food, service, and just love the employees. We highly recommend Kalia. We’ve only been to the Greenwood location, but I’m sure the other locations are thriving and are just as fantastic as this location. We usually get the mango chicken, the curry, chicken, the garlic, naan and samosas. Everything’s been spectacular!
The coconut curry which is rich and delicious. Pakora chicken was great for an appetizer was also spiced really well
Very friendly and accommodating. Had samosas, pakora, paneer butter masala, and garlic naan with mango lasi. Everything was delicious. Come here every time we visit Seattle.
Get the garlic and Parmesan Naan!! It’s made in house and is incredible! The lunch combo on the weekends is under $10 and really tasty. The butter chicken and Chana masala are better than the chicken tikka masala.
This is my absolute favorite Indian food place. Their chicken korma is soooo good. I dare say it is better than most Indian curries I have had when I was living in India.
Our usual order includes the chicken korma, bread basket and veg samosas sometimes.
Excellent excellent excellent.
The food is absolutely delicious, so many sauces and sides to try. The naan is a good recipe, very soft.
We’ve been here for dine in before and we were doted on and had a great time. shout out to the young man server who gave us very good recommendations (we were fairly new to Indian food and Indian beer). The portion size is also wonderful, plenty of leftovers. Great place, I wish more people knew about this gem.
Probably the best Indian food I've ever had. They deliver, and if you run into Mr. Kalia himself, he's an amazing, bright, happy personality and is as hospitable as they come.
Amazing food, the 1-6 spicy scale is no joke, I love spicy food and I top out at a 4.
Perfect for the lunch buffet, or an amazing dinner. Share or oder individual plates, there's something for everyone :)
Edit: It's been 5 years, and I'm still amazed by how good and consistent the food is every time. The owner really loves and cares about his customers, I can't recommend this place enough
