I’m always looking for unique ice cream, and this is the place. The ice cream and cones are dairy free and gluten free and you’d never know it. I had the California Cabin, and the smoked pine was the perfect touch to cardamom cookies and vanilla. I love supporting small, local, woman owned, and delicious. And this checked all those boxes. Will be going again soon.
The Sundae Shop has arrived!!! As a long-time fan of Frankie & Jo’s and life-long fan of soft serve, I was absolutely THRILLED when I heard they were adding this to their roster of already delicious vegan ice cream!
I was hoping that the sundaes wouldn’t be coconut based like a lot of their ice creams and sure enough, I was delighted to find it wasn’t!
There were a gazillion delicious and creative toppings to add on like lemon thyme blondies, zucchini pound cake, and cone shatter or you can go with one of their sundae options!
I went with the Pickled Blueberry Sundae which came with their pickled blueberry jam, lemon thyme blondies and added one additional topping. With a 15% tip this ended up being $18 for a small sundae BUT you can truly taste the quality! The mixed flavors reminded me of a European waterside with a cute blanket, a book, a glass of something sparkly and my ice cream!
I know it’s expensive, but summer is meant for treating yourself with dessert that is worth every penny 🍦✨
Never would have believed this was vegan ice cream. Tasted just like regular ice cream. Base was coconut milk and delicious. Monthly flavors. The Carrot cake was so good!!! Definitely will come here again.
Stopped into Frankie & Jo’s for some plant-based ice cream. They have two other locations (Capital Hill and University Village).
They had a total of 13 flavours available (10 everyday and 3 seasonal). Scoops are pricey; $5.00 USD (mini), $7.50 USD (standard) and $9.50 USD (large).
- Large ($9.50 USD) - for our two scoops, we opted for the love of lemon and California cabin. Texture was rich and creamy. California cabin was unique (pine!) and refreshing.
Pricey at F&J but the quality and flavours are on point.
Really great stop for ice cream! I highly recommend you be bold and try California Cabin. It sounds weird (black pepper? cardamom? pine ice cream? what is this?!), but will knock your socks off. I took off one star because of the price, it's hard to justify $8 for a relatively small scoop of (admittedly great) ice cream when there are so many other yummy options out there. The coconut taste of the base is also quite overpowering in some of the flavors (like the chocolate). That said, still worth a visit!
Edit - This is the best icecream in Seattle. I have stopped eating icecream from anywhere else. There is no competition at all to the point that it seems unfair lol. I no longer buy scoops. Straight to pints.
A cozy place in a cozy neighborhood. Caramel cardamom and jamocha chaga fudge were great. Never thought vegan icecream can taste this good.
With tax and a tip, it was pushing $8 for a small cup of ice cream. Everything in Seattle is expensive, so maybe this is just par for the course, but it felt a bit much.
As for the non-dairy ice cream, it was good. I honestly might not have even noticed it didn't have any dairy if they hadn't said anything. It was a bit too sweet for my taste, but not totally overboard. The texture and flavor were generally good. Staff were very friendly and offered samples before we chose.
Excellent. I look forward to coming to Seattle so I can visit Frank & Jo's. Super cute interior and their flavors are deliciously innovative.
Awesome, awesome ice cream. What can I say? It's all vegan but really you can just ignore that if it isn't a factor for you. It's just superb ice cream and flavours.
The vegan ice cream is really. Don't worry about ingredients like eggplant. It all tastes good and usually like normal ice cream. The place is popular so is crowded and could use more seating.
So impressed by this shop! I love Frankie and Jo’s ice creams. You would never know it’s vegan/gluten free and I love the ability to build a sundae. It’s a little expensive but it’s worth it.
The best ice cream in Seattle. And it’s vegan. The seasonal flavors rarely disappoint.
I am OBSESSED with Frankie & Jo's. I actually prefer their plant based ice cream over regular dairy ice cream. Some of the flavor names may throw you off, but they end up tasting like better versions of flavors you're used to (e.g. Taro Root Sea Foam tasted like caramel cookie dough). My favorite flavor is Jamocha Chaga Fudge, which they have year round. Their waffle cones are super good too. Pro-tip: If you're just buying a pint, skip the line, grab a pint from their freezer, and head straight to the counter.
I have got to be honest I wasn’t too excited by the idea of icecream made without any dairy products, but after many people telling me how great it is I had to give it a try. OH MY GOD! Amazing!!! We had the ginger turmeric one which was heaven if you like a little spice and herbaceous tang. My five year old had the vanilla with swirls of caramel through it, incredible! After your first lick you forget it’s vegan. It is everything you want an icecream to be., sweet, creamy, decadent. Do it! Try it!
Also be sure to check out the little covered patio out the back at the end of the hall. It’s a cute spot to enjoy your cone.
Delicious plant based ice cream! I had the seasonal kombucha flavor and it was amazing! The cones are made from oat flour and flax, but smelled and tasted like the real thing. Definitely have to come back to try more of the unique flavors without the gut bomb that's come with traditional ice cream.
I have food allergies, so I have to be careful when I eat out. They avoid using common allergens and post all of their ingredients, which makes it easy for me to know what I can have! Every flavor I've tried has been yummy. And I can eat the waffle cones! What?! I know. It's the best ever!
