Enjoyed some very yummy nibbles here on their covered deck on a weekday night! I'd made a last moment reservation just in case but turned out it wasn't necessary. Everything we tried was yummy but we particularly loved the raw octopus in fresh Wasabi, the spam and liver pate, and the tonkatsu sandwiches! Also their hot dog (not pictured) was great. Keep in mind they do have a one drink per person rule regardless if you're intending to just nibble, and they're 21+ only. The yuzu mocktail and calpico mocktail we ordered to fufill that both ended up delicious surprises :)

There are culinary adventures, and then there are mind blowing fusion experiences. Hannyatou is one of those experiences, and should not be missed. With a friendly and helpful staff, amazing drink selection, and phenomenal food options this is one of those small off-the-beaten-path places worth the time and effort to find. In today's age this is one of those places worth every cent, and them some.

Yummmmmm! Decided to stop by for late night snacks and of course sake! Started off with jalapeño ume shots which were soooo good! Then we of course we have to eat all the good food here. Smoke salmon ochazuke Spicy squid Sake flight No. 1 Kurobota pork sausage Summer sake flight Butter garlic edamame Curry quail eggs Tsukemono pickles Sake glass Happy dog If I had to eat all of this again… I would do…. Pork sausages, quail eggs, sake flight, edamame, pickles, happy dog, bottle of sake (summer sake), and ending with the ochazuke. And of course bringing my dog to the back patio.

This is a great addition to compliment Kamonegi; which doesn’t have a bar but has great food and usually a long wait. This place is truly as authentic Japanese as you can get in town, down to the tiny restroom. Hannyatou is a small yet cozy little spot with a nice selection of sake, that is nice for small plates and drinks or just for drinks while you wait for Kamonegi. Highly recommended!

Delicious sake options. Had a few bits too. The spicy squid, bar mix, cats sand and the paté were all amazing! In addition had a non-alcoholic purple drink that was yummy. Great start to a lovely evening - went to Kamonegi for dinner!

Stopped by here while waiting to get in next door, the food was amazing! Wanted to just sit down here all night but soba noodles were calling my name.

We got a seat at the bar, which I highly recommend since it’s fun to watch food get made, and it piques your curiosity too—we definitely ordered more after watching delicious-looking items head out to other tables. Apparently the menu rotates by the day, but if there’s a katsu sando on the menu when you come in, I would jump on it. Not pictured, but the small snack of dried squid in gochujang sauce we got was also fantastic, as was the “okonomi-latke.” Fantastic service, great ambiance, my partner and I had a great time. Thanks guys!

Fantastic spot for a relaxed date night. The sake menu here is diverse and has real depth. The sake flights are a great deal and a terrific way to learn about various sakes. Super friendly staff, charming ambiance, and outdoor seating as well. Love the small bites here. We’ll be back for sure.

Can be confusing with Kamonegi, but they’re the same owner. You can come here and have both! The sake selection is insane, I’ve never seen so many options. The waitress was super helpful and recommend Hoyo “Summer Breeze” and Kameizumi “Eternal Spring,” which we loved. The vibes are lovely here too, even the little bathroom reminds me of Japan.

Came here for dinner & drinks. Everything was really tasty and beautifully presented! Just don’t expect to get full unless you order a lot of things. The menu itself groups the food as “snacks” and “big snacks.” We got the okonomi-latke, takowasa, konbini dog and a few other things since we were still hungry. The okonomi-latke was our favorite! It had great flavor, just the right amount of (potato) batter + sauce.

5/31/19: Stopped in to visit the new space and had a great experience. Sat at the bar and chatted with Russell and Bruce. Ordered spam and chicken liver mousse, tanuki tofu, and oysters. The Watari Bune 55 paired deliciously with the mousse. Looking forward to stopping in again.

Low key, cozy spot for creative Japanese/fusion — sake, cocktails, apps & snacks. I’ve been here a couple times now — Such friendly staff!! I’ve had a whole meal here and also popped in for a drink and app before heading two doors down. Will surely be back again.

This place is amazing. Such a cool find in Seattle. We scheduled a Sake tasting with Sage and he took us through a bunch of really interesting Sake pours, all with background on the brewing process and his personal preferences. It’s clear the staff on hand is incredibly knowledgeable about the cuisine, but also cater to a very laid back and community atmosphere that I feel Seattle is sometimes lacking. We didn’t have any food but we sat by the bar/kitchen where everything looked amazing. We’ll definitely be going back.
