Went here for lunch on Saturday. The food was actually very good, but our service stunk. Unfortunately I think our waiter gave up on us from the beginning when half our table ordered water instead of the bloody mary's he had suggested. It was like pulling teeth to get him to come back to our table, which the restaurant was dead at the time, and when he did come to the table there seemed to be some underlying attitude towards us. It only became more obvious when the tables around us started to fill and he was so friendly to them. It was no surprise when one of my friends made the comment that perhaps the bad reputation of Sewickley being snobby was actually true.
Dinner at 424 Walnut was wonderful. I chose the Arctic Char special and indeed it was special. The presentation and taste made for a wonderful dining experience. Adding to the evening was the waitstaff who were friendly, knowledgeable and eager to please. It can get a little noisy, but that certainly wouldn't stop me from stopping by again.

Great. I've been meaning to write a review about this place. The eight of us joined together at 424 to celebrate my sister's birthday back in November, and it was a fabulous experience. The waiter as well as the owner were both attentive (giving wonderful appetizer suggestions for all of us to share), and when we all opted out of dessert, the owner offered a free after-dinner drink for everyone. Of course, our dinner entrees were delish as well. As we left, the owner shook everyone's hands and thanked everyone for coming. It blew me away in regards to how kind and respectful he was to us. Although the majority of the party was in their early thirties, for most dining experiences, looking young for my age (as well as my friends) can make us feel like we are not taken seriously. I feel like at other restaurants maybe servers think we aren't going to tip well (haha). Servers and owners should not think like that because it's hardly the case. I couldn't have been more happy to choose this spot for my sister's birthday celebration. I would like to see more young professionals dine here and would recommend this place to anyone. Walk into the bar area and receive a great smile and warm welcome. Order from a table and receive wonderful service. Talk to the owners, one out front and one in back for ideas on what to eat. I have been to many places throughout my travels and this is home to me. If you haven't been go. If you have been you know what I mean. This place is just great. And I know cheesecake is a staple dessert throughout the country but the best is found here. If you don't order the Marscapone cheesecake you will have passed up the best.
Had ANOTHER nice night at 424 Walnut last night! I ordered the Chilean Sea bass special and it was excellent. Presentation and flavor were amazing. The service and owner/host were very good and made you feel really comfortable. Can't wait to go back and try something new again!
I took a friend to 424 Walnut and thought it was one of the best meals i had in a very long time. Both my friend and i had the large portioned veal and linguine which was out of this world ! The bottled wine selection was excellent and reasonably priced. The service was impeccable and food came right away. Most of all the owner - host was so friendly, welcoming and made you feel you want to come back again and again. I really appreciate the wonderful food and service. We will be back again. Thank you. We decided to give 424 a try and so glad we did. Our meals were delicious. I had the Talipa special and my husband had the pork chop. Both were served with a soup or salad and our entrees were super hot. The staff was attentive but not overwhelming. It was a perfect balance. We split the mascarpone cheesecake and finished with a delightful cappuccino. We will be visiting again. :)
Delicious!. I ate here with my family last night and we all loved it! (The crab cakes and the chicken penne pasta were our favorites) The service was very friendly and attentive, and the food was really delicious. I highly recommend this place.

We had dinner here on May 25th, their 9th day of being open. We were a little cautious knowing that they probably still had the normal new opening "bugs" to work out, but wanted to try it.
The place was BUSY, so I'm glad that we made reservations. The location is beautiful, and the outside of the restaurant is very inviting. Municipal parking lot that's free on weekends is right behind them.
We were promptly seated. The first thing that we noticed was that its a very noisy place. We're accustomed to the city restaurants, so noise doesn't typically bother us. However when crowded this place is LOUD.
It took our waitress over 5 minutes to greet us and take our drink orders. The sharp owner noticed this, came over to apologize and sent the waitress. She was very friendly, but it was her first night. She was overwhelmed and visibly preoccupied.
We ordered a bottle of wine from the menu, and were told 5 minutes later that they were out of it. Instead of suggesting something else off of the menu at a discount they asked us to wait while they made a run to the store to get another case. So it didn't arrive with our appetizer- not a huge deal but still not great service. To his credit the manager recognized the issues that were going on, and did his best to correct them.
Now the good news- the food here is FANTASTIC, and they give very big portions. We started with the crab-stuffed roasted artichokes with lemon butter. They were good, but lacking something. Maybe garlic or pepper? My wife got the chicken breasted with peppers, cheese and prosciutto. I got the crab-stuffed salmon. Both were phenomenal, especially for the price!!
The waitress kept coming back to check on us with a smile, but never filled up our wine glasses.
The once again great owner came back a few times to make sure that we were ok, and offered us a complimentary dessert for the troubles. The bread pudding with brandy, cranberries and raisins was outstanding!!! We were very full by this time, but couldn't leave this incredible dessert go to waste.
This place has a lot of potential, and I think they will be able to overcome some of the "new" issues to make it. In order to do so, though, they may have to buck up to attract more experienced, professional servers rather than the college kids home on break that they seem to attract.

Sweetwater Grille is Back. My girlfriend and I decided to try 424 Walnut for dinner, after hearing that it had finally reopened, since closing its doors as the former Sweetwater Grille months ago, due to circumstances regarding Liquor Licenses and other issues. Sweetwater was missed amongst the Sewickley restaurant scene.
The decor looks mostly the same, with a few color and lighting changes here and there. We arrived and were greeted promptly and seated accordingly. Being that it was a Monday night, it still wasn't very crowded, and I only saw 2 servers working the dining area. Even so, it still took us 5 minutes to get acknowledged. This is unreasoable, even in a busy restaurant on a Friday night. A table should be recognized within 1-2 minutes. Even if it's just to say Hi, alert me and know that we're going to be taken care of.
Our server then pleasantly introduced herself and rather than ask us for our drink order. Drinks took another 10 minutes. All we wanted were 2 waters and a beer.
At this point we order our first course and entrees. I had to ask if the entrees came with Salads, because it's not denoted on the menu, however this was the case when it was Sweetwater Grille.
Our appetizer seemed to take quite a while, so much so that the Manager (I assume), Joe, asked us how everything was going, when I politely alerted him that we had been waiting a bit for our Stuffed Banana Peppers. As he goes to check, both he, and our server arrive at our table to provide us with the same update within 30 seconds of each other. Lack of communication or through service. You choose.
The Stuffed Banana Peppers were excellent, and the amount of "Stuff", (seemingly hot sausage), was enormous. The Marinara sauce seemed homemade and had a nice taste and texture to it.
The House Salads that came with the entrees were Okay. Standard Spring Mix with few veggies. Smaller than I would have liked, but that's to be expected. The real salad here is the Wedge or the Duck Confit.
For our entrees, I had the Seared Scallops and my girlfriend had the Seafood Diavolo. The scallops were cooked perfectly and breaded nicely, and were accompanied by fresh Broccoli, as well as their new featured side, Pan-fried potatoes. Perfectly seasoned , crispy on the outside, a nice accompaniment to the meal. My girlfriend said the Diavolo was excellent, the pasta property cooked to Al-dente, and plentiful seafood.
Overall, I understand the service issues are kinks that can be worked out. They've only been open less than a week. The food is excellent, but if I had any recommendations, I would suggest a different approach when greeting tables. As a former server, I always made sure my people were greeted upon arrival, even if I had to get a manager, another server, or a busboy, doesnt matter who, as long as they deliver the message that they will be taken care of shortly.
We had a wonderful time here.
I organized a large group for dinner (just over 20 folks). Our waitress was absolutely wonderful and did an amazing job of taking care of us. I was also impressed at how the kitchen was able to handle our orders, prepare them, and deliver our food quickly and at the same time.
Our food was very good and we all enjoyed the atmosphere. Several members of the party commented about how much they enjoyed the food.

Called 10 minutes before to check if we could get a reservation before concert. We got a bar spot. Food and employees were great! Started with stuffed peppers which I would highly recommend.
We had a pleasant experience here despite the menu being limited. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The restaurant got very noisy as it got busier.

I’ve been here three times now and I still love this place. The waiter we had was wonderful he did an awesome job.
Great service and food! Will definitely be back! We enjoyed a large side salad (shared), chicken penne entree, crab cake entree (gluten free), oreo/reeses cheesecake and dark chocolate creme Brule' (gluten free) (desserts pictured).
Food is amazing. Soups are top tier. Service and employee attitude are great. Atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. My favorite go-to date spot.
We love the crab cakes here and anytime there is a chef special for dinner. The French Onion soup is my go to on chilly days for a quick lunch.The interior has been remodeled and it is so modern yet comfortable, a wonderful mix. This restaurant has been a life saver too in the community for offering pick up orders. Joe and his staff are committed, hardworking individuals. We look forward to many more meals with 424.
