This is a nice restaurant in downtown Silver Spring that has a pretty decent happy hour menu and a nice aura and aesthetic. It was a Tuesday evening but surprisingly slow traffic so it was a very enjoyable experience. The food was very timely, brought out and tasty as well. Not to mention feeling too
We ate here on Saturday, 2/25/23. It’s a smaller space, with a long bar, and a kitchen/food prep space you can see from the dining area. Service was immediate, and with constant attention. My glass was never empty. Food quality wasn’t outstanding - it was EXCEPTIONAL. Both chicken and pork had that “soft but chewy” quality unique to REAL Cuban cooking, with the sweet and tangy taste. The finishing vegetables and herbs MADE the dishes, all perfectly cooked. And the sauces - OH, THE SAUCES. Be sure to try ALL of them on EVERYTHING. You won’t be disappointed. I thought pricing was reasonable for both service and food. Portions were LARGE and ended up going home with us. Overall, A+++ experience. We’ll be back! 👍👍👍
Just finished (3/4/23) dinning at El Sapo. The seasoning and presentation of the dishes were excellent!! Drinks were also spot on. Don't let the steam rice fool you...it's not the plain stuff, well season with garlic and other goodness 😋. Sample the small bites and have an entree. You won't be disappointed.
This place is A M A Z I N G ! ! !
The atmosphere is electric, buzzing with energy. The food is sooooooooooooo good. I mean food for your soul good.
Good size portions. Couldn’t even finish my meal. The flavours…. O M G ! ! !
Listen this is the place to eat!!

I love coming back to this place. Staff is super friendly and food is excellent. "Chúpate los Dedos" makes me always come back; it is a pork meat pieces that have been sunk in lemon juice for days then they fry them and served with onions, cilantro and sweet and sour sauce. Wow, excellent flavor and staff always asking you if you're alright, if you're in need of help/anything. A place to have on "repeat" every single week!!!
The whole fried fish was amazing. It was so bomb. The croquets were delicious as well. We loved the margaritas too. Great chill vibes. Only thing is it would be cool if they hired an actual Cuban or two, I only say this because I went to Cuba and the waitress looked at me mad wild because she was from mexico and couldn't resonate with my cuban stories. lol.
I went out on a date here. The aesthetics are beautiful. The service is great. The food is delicious. The ambiance is amazing. The lavender margarita is perfect! I look forward to returning to this place.
I’ve been here twice, and I love it! The drinks are very good (also very strong) and inexpensive. The food is also very delicious! This seems to be a popular neighborhood hangout as there are always plenty of patrons, but I understand why. The staff are great! Very friendly and personable, they make the experience even better. I also love that they play Latin (mainly Cuban) music. This is definitely one of the better happy hour options in downtown Silver Spring, I’m sure I’ll be back soon!
I came here on Sunday. I received great customer service. Ordered the Papas Bravas, they were delicious! For drinks I had the lavender margarita, I really enjoyed that. I ordered the pitcher of mojitos, it was very bitter, not sweet, had a punch from the rum - which I wasn’t a huge fan of. Overall, great experience and recommend.

This place was lovely! The ambiance was amazing. The Mojito is a must! The best hands down. Everything that I indulged in was superb! The only thing that I could suggest is that the staff be a bit more attentive as far as checking in on the table periodically…(water, etc…).
This is going to be my new go to spot in SS. Great drinks..great food and service.
December 2021..went for brunch and was quite delicious..ordered the chicken and waffles..FYI the chicken has bones and be sure to indicate if you want white or dark meat if you have a preference. Meal was delicious and the lavender margarita was good too. Also come with cash if with a decent sized group as splitting checks could be a problem. My friends enjoyed their meals as well so definitely a place to check out
I really enjoyed the atmosphere here and the service is nice too. I went towards the end of happy hour (yes! Pitchers of mojitos on the Happy Hour menu!) and although there was a line, my party of two was sat pretty quickly. I like how they dont take names for those waiting for tables but instead sit parties as they come in. They also take your drink order, etc right after they seat you
For food we ordered the Croquettes de Bacalao, Ropa Vieja, Scallops and Coconut ceviches, and churros with whipped cream on the side for dessert. Everything came out great and tasted amazing. I was a little disappointed that the ceviche didnt come with a side item but it was still a great dish on its own. But I guess since this is a Cuban restaurant and not a a typical tex-mex restaurant, this should be expected. I wanted to order a scoop of ice cream, but was bummed they only served ice cream with toasted coconut flakes on top and didnt offer individual scoops--so it seems there arent many options to customize menu items.
I'll definitely be back to this great spot in downtown Silver Spring. So excited this food option is here with nice outdoor seating options (though not shaded). The corner wall of the bar restaurant can even open to provide an open air experience with the bar being accessed from outdoor. So perfect!
